Not my cup of tea.
31 January 2024
I will preface this by saying I'm not a huge fan of stand up. I like some of them but others I feel are trying way too hard. Like this one. I liked KOQ and when I saw Kevin had a special I decided to give it a whirl. When he was coming out and started rolling around on the floor I had a feeling this wasn't going to end well. It's just not very funny. I also think it's way too athletic with all the jumping around and frantically gesturing while making annoying sound effects. I'm sure plenty of people enjoy that kind of humor, but I guess I'm not one of them. He really lost me when he started talking about ripping the faces off of wild animals and eating it. I personally would much rather hear f-bombs than stuff like that. Yesterday I watched Gary Gulman's new special on Max and thought it was really funny so I'm not completely dead inside and do have a sense of humor. Just not for this.

It's got everything, including butt stuff.
24 October 2023
I'm a 50 year old straight white woman and I enjoyed this show. Is it perfect? No. I think they were trying to do too many things at once. The main storyline was the relationship between two sisters after their mom died. There was a whole bunch of other stuff sprinkled on top, such as LGBTQ+ issues and relationships, the pros and cons of gentrification, witchcraft, a ridiculous amount of sex (much of which had nothing to do with the story), butt stuff, politics and more. I get that they were trying to promote sex positivity, but being that the show only had 3 seasons before being cancelled I would have liked if they turned the sexy time down a notch and spent the time developing some of the other characters. I could've found porn online if that's what I wanted to watch. I felt cheated when they had to wrap up the whole series in one episode. I'm sure they did the best they could given the circumstances but they deserved more time to give the story an appropriate ending, because the one it had was very anti-climactic (no pun intended).

Oh Ginny, turn that frown upside down.
2 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This kind of show is my kind of show. I should love it. But love is a strong word. I just kinda like it maybe a little. It has a lot of good qualities. But it also has Ginny. Geez Louise, someone needs to punch her in the neck.

She starts at a new school and in the first day, two guys are into her, one being the most popular guy in her class? Then she gets approached by a cool chick who invites her to have lunch with her and her friends and now she was miraculously accepted into a tight knit group of 3 popular teenage girls? I'm sorry, but that's not the way it works. Especially with someone who allegedly has never had friends in her life before, and is not exactly the next Miss America with that permanent scowl on her face. Her personality ain't winning any contests either, unless it's the 'which character on TV is the most insufferable' contest. I think they went a little over the top with the teen angst thing. Seriously, how could anyone want to be friends with some bi***y girl who yells at and talks down to everyone and bores holes in people's heads with that evil stare she seems to do every 5 minutes? If you played a drinking game based on every time she cracks a smile, you would be that night's designated driver. She is the least fun high school student that has ever existed since the beginning of time. She and Hunter have zero chemistry and their relationship is about as believable as Santa and the Tooth Fairy playing poker with the Easter Bunny. The relationship between her and the other one is possibly a half a nanometer more believable but I may only be saying that because he's really pretty and we (I) really need to see more of him. And what could be even more nauseating than the tap dance scene you ask? The song that what's-his-face sang to her with his band backing him. There' no doubt in my mind that a 3 year old could come up with better lyrics. The most popular kid at school is a tap dancing, piano and guitar playing singer/songwriter? Why not make him head of the football team, lead cheerleader, class president and valedictorian as well? What these silly kids won't do to express how much they love the most miserable and hateful little brat in the world who they just met 5 minutes ago. Bless their hearts. They should have called the series 'today is Opposite Day and this is what high school is really like'.

Sorry, had to get that out. Thanks for listening.

I'm so glad someone did it.
13 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I rate this a 9 compared to all other Christmas movies that I've seen. I've watched a ton of them and kind of hate myself a little each time I do because they are so cheesy and sappy. This is the movie I needed to feel better about myself. Two sisters, one super upbeat who loves Christmas and the other grumpy and hates it. The upbeat one wishes she could be in a perfect Christmas movie and her wish comes true, and the grumpy one is forced to come along too. The upbeat one is in heaven from all of the perfectness and sweetness that is typical of a Hallmark type Christmas movie and the grumpy one is in hell because it's nauseating (this is the one I relate to). The sap and cheese is so over the top, like Hallmark on steroids. I'm guessing that's what they were going for. It's hilarious! Finally, something different than all the formulated ones where you can figure out how the movie is going to end in the first 5 minutes. I highly recommend if you can handle spoofing on your beloved typical Christmas movie.

Not the worst show I've ever watched.
29 October 2022
I liked it. Yes, it's a bit far fetched but that's ok. There's enough edge to it, mostly stemming from the Aiden, the brother (who is hilarious BTW), to differentiate it from a sappy Hallmark show, but it's along the same lines. The family is totally dysfunctional but somehow they all accept and love each other. It's only one season long, and the story wraps up nicely so it's kind of a long miniseries. I wouldn't call it a comedy, it's more like a lighthearted drama that revolves around some serious issues without it getting too heavy. It's not the greatest show ever created but I don't think it deserves the one and two star reviews because there's definitely a lot of worse things to watch.

Gross
25 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Within the first few minutes, the girl meets an Italian guy who uses some cheesy line about how he has seen other American women but none as beautiful as her. Made me want to regurgitate my lunch. I was really hoping she'd call him out on his pathetic, stereotypical attempt at a compliment but she actually fell for it. Then he invites her to his family's gallery and has his paws all over her while showing her paintings. Ugh he just seemed so slimy. Maybe some girls like that kind of thing. I would have felt violated and called the Polizia. I'll probably watch the rest because I'm too lazy to try and future out something else to watch but my first impression was not a very good one. But, if you believe in the power of creepy guys and their cheesy pick up lines then this is the show for you. Also, I'd sooner believe that Santa is going to come down my chimney this year and hand me a winning billion dollar lottery ticket than believe that the lead character is in her mid 20's.

Could be worse.
6 July 2022
Imagine if someone stole a Hallmark movie and put some decent music in it. I kind of hated myself for watching it but kept on going anyway. Some parts even made me chuckle, despite all the cheesiness and predictability. Luckily I wasn't expecting much more so I wasn't completely disappointed. Baaabara stole the show IMHO.

Let's take every aspect of abortion, blow it way out of proportion, sprinkle it with a bunch of lies and Christian propaganda and make a movie out of it. I'd be willing to bet that even God is looking down and shaking his head at how ridiculous this is.

What kind of drugs...
23 May 2022
What kind of drugs does someone have to take to come up with this stuff? I wish they spent more time telling the story then dragging on the fighting, which went on for about an hour too long. I fell asleep after awhile, then woke up to realize that basically the same thing was still happening. So I fell back asleep. At one point in the middle of the movie, credits started playing which got me very excited thinking it was over and I was done having to watch it, but it was a trick. The movie dragged on for at least another hour. My friend liked it though, which I don't get at all.

Kinda funny, actually.
12 January 2022
I'm running out of stuff to watch so I decided to put this on expecting to hate it considering I usually hate Adam Sandler movies, and Jennifer Aniston seems to play the role of Rachel from friends in just about everything else she stars in. So how surprised was I to hear myself laughing out loud not once but several times? I mean I wasn't rolling on the floor or anything but I definitely let a giggle or two escape. First of all it was a relief to realize that after Sandler started speaking that it was in his normal voice, without his signature fake speech impediment. That made the whole movie much more tolerable than most other things he has been in. But it was the daughter that did it for me. When she busted out her English accent I about died. That little British crumpet made the whole movie for me and she deserves an Emmy.

What were you expecting?
8 January 2022
You can probably tell by the name of the movie what you are in for if you choose to watch it. As far as teenage sex movies go, it's not the worst I've ever seen. But if you don't like stupid humor, boobs, or sex scenes, then you'll probably want to skip it. It kind of makes me want to take a hallucinogenic drug while talking to Rob Schneider though because it looks like it would be really funny.

I laughed once.
8 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I laughed once, when he feeds the moray eel a hotdog and it latches onto his arm causing him to start flipping the eel around. It was so stupid that it was actually kind of funny. The rest of it seemed like they were trying too hard to be funny which always has the opposite effect. This is the exact problem that has been plaguing SNL for the last bunch of years, so considering the cast of this movie is chock full of SNL cast members, the lack of humor makes sense. Then I realized it was based on a true story so I decided to cut it some slack. But then I got depressed knowing that people like the characters they are portraying actually walk among us.

Dear Christmas (2020 TV Movie)
3/10
Congratulations.
26 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Believe me when I say that I've seen my fair share of sappy hallmark type Christmas movies (and I hate myself for it), but this one is by far the sappiest, corniest, most far fetched, over the top nauseatingly sweet piece of torture I have ever endured. Good lord, every single thing is perfect...the lead character, her family, her job, her outlook on life and love (despite being like 40 and never experiencing the latter yet having a job that requires her giving advice about it). I threw up in my mouth a little when she gets a flat and the guy who rescues her just happens to have enough perfectly seasoned hot chocolate to share while he fixes her tire. And somehow there is so much time in his days that he has enough hours to be able to work in like 15 different places, and still be able to hang out with her everyday. The only thing that isn't perfect about this movie is the chemistry between the main characters. There is none. Nada. Zero. Zilch. I'm more passionate about cottage cheese than they are for each other. But alas, I watched the whole stupid thing. Why do I do this to myself?!? I must be subconsciously punishing myself for something horrible I did in a past life or something. Don't do it. You'll hate yourself in the morning.

I thought it was hilarious.
29 August 2021
I'm glad I started watching before I read the critic reviews because I probably would have skipped it. Most comedies these days try way too hard and end up being very un-funny. This one literally made me lol several times. It's ridiculous, but I'm pretty sure they meant it to be that way.

What the hell did I just watch?
20 August 2021
I'll admit I knew nothing about this movie except that two actors I like were in it and it said something about a stand up comedian so I was sold, and assumed it would be funny. Boy was I wrong. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen to redeem itself but a little over half way in I couldn't take it anymore. I know Adam can sing from A Marriage Story, but when started singing We Love Each Other So Much, I couldn't help but think about how embarrassed I was for Pierce Brosnan when he busted into song in Mamma Mia. I'm an artist and they say art is considered good if it makes the audience feel something. I felt confusion, stupid for watching it, mad at myself for wasting the time I put into it, and sad because it was so not good. So I guess as an art piece it is very successful. But as a movie? Not so much. At one point when Adam is flopping around on stage and screaming, my dog literally jumped off the couch and started staring and barking violently at the TV. Guess the art made him feel something too.

I hate them both.
17 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like it. This show has all the qualities of the types of shows I usually enjoy. But the two main characters are incredibly annoying. The have absolutely no chemistry either so the relationship was not believable in the first place. And all they did was fight. I've been in relationships like that and I couldn't get away fast enough. And these idiots end up getting married to ensure they live a long life of arguing with each other. Yeah right, if it were real life they'd be divorced in 45 days or less.

I really like Amy but...
16 April 2021
She's just completely obnoxious. She doesn't stop talking and what's coming out of her mouth isn't funny whatsoever. It's like someone is waving their hands in front of your face saying 'I'm not touching you! I'm not touching you!' That level of obnoxious. And I'm not impressed that she can pick up the phone and call her famous bff's. I watched several episodes and the extent of her actual cooking was chopping an onion. Her husband deserves at least a few stars for being able to completely tune her out and focus on his cooking. He should spend an episode teaching us how to do that.

Childless American here.

I'm a sucker for an English accent and although I'm not a 'kid person' per se, I always said if mine could come out with an English accent maybe I'd consider having one. All the English kids I've met in person and seen on TV until now have always sounded adorable and seemed to have excellent manners. The oldest boy in this show proved me wrong within the first 2 minutes of episode 1. This is how I always assumed it would be like having children, and watching this confirmed that I made the right decision 😂

An old person reliving their youth through TV
16 March 2021
This is a great show. The only question I have is why do they have to use first and last names when talking between friends? Do Angela's BFF's seriously not understand who she is talking about if she only refers to him as Jordan? Are there soooo many Jordan's in the school that she could potentially be talking about? I mean come on! Ok that was more than one question but you get my drift.

I hate myself for watching but I can't stop.
9 January 2021
It is ridiculously sweet and innocent. I feel like I'm getting a mouthful of cavities every time I put it on. But I wasn't expecting anything different. It's basically a 5 season long hallmark Christmas movie. Which I also hate myself for watching but somehow I can't stop. It is refreshing that it doesn't revolve about everyone doing the nasty with each other, however the cousin and the bestie are annoyingly boy crazy. I feel bad for any single guy who needs a room at the B&B or a meal at the Bistro. They're like sharks waiting to attack. But Cassie and Sam who are engaged don't even sleep together so it's 100% squeaky clean.

The real reason I hate myself for watching is that Cassie is sooooo annoying. She's a total know it all, always has a condescending comeback, always has to have the last word and has the most infuriating 'told you so' look on her face constantly. I want to punch the TV. She's portrayed as the kind and helpful one but she seems more like the person to go to if you want someone to make you feel like you're an idiot. And she seems about as excited about her relationship with Sam as I am about eating haggis. Ugh.

But yet for some reason I'll end up watching the whole thing.

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, this was bad. I put it on for background noise while I was doing something else and it didn't even work for that. It's kind of like a bad version of Home Alone for adults, where the squatter in the guest house and the homeowner plot to take each other down. Add drug use, sheer stupidity, and a horrid soundtrack and you get this. I especially feel bad for all the opossums of the world. Had the writers done any research, they would have known that opossums can't even get rabies. If I were an opossum I would sue Pauly for slander. Ugh.
