Malcolm X Film Review
5 December 2020
Malcolm X is someone that is known by many. A iconic black activist and leader that tried to make a difference. He was assassinated in 1956 but his legacy and memories still live on. This movie was in a sense a tribute to him and was a great movie to watch. The actors performance was phenomenal and each scene was excecuted very well. There are many different biographies and movies about iconic people in history that don't always do it justice however this movie did it's part. From providing great acting skills to providing information from something/someone in history was well played out. Definitely I would reccomend to others to watch

Manhattan Film Review
5 December 2020
A great movie with a combination of comedy and romance. The movie as a whole was really good but there was some things that I found a little strange. I didn't understand why the couple was not so compatible with each other. The relationship was not what you imagine a couple in movie to be like. One of the scenes that I thought was interesting and the acting was really good because you can feel what the character/characters are portraying. The acting in this movie was great and it was one of the factors that made you want to continue watching the movie after each scene passed.

A "classic suspenseful horror" is the best way to describe this movie. There have been many movies after this one that have been influenced by it. In this film the wife thinks her offspring is not from this universe. the actors and actresses in this movie played their roles incredibly. The plot of this movie along with the acting skill and dialogues allowed this movie to win many awards and become a movie that many people like to watch.

bonnie & clyde review
17 November 2020
When you think of a couple that is escaping somewhere and having some sort of rendevous for many people the first thing that comes to mind is bonnie & clyde. Atleast for my friends and I that is what comes to mind. The storyline of this iconic duo is something that will be forever known. Bonnie becomes Clyde's partner in crime and the adventure begins in the film. The combination of sadness, humor and love makes this film one of the most iconic american films. Definitely a movie that I would recommend and that I would re watch.

guess who's coming to dinner review
16 November 2020
The film depicts interracial marriage in more of a positive light. During that time interracial marriage was still illegal in the southern states. Even though this was a good film it was still controversial. One scene in particular was when john was introduced the miss draydon. Her reaction to it gave you a sense of how many people during that time reacted. However the sad part with this is that up to this day their all still people in society that have a similar mindset. Even though it gives you an insight to that time period it shows similarities to today's day and age.

who's afraid of virginia woolf review

Elizabeth Taylor is a phenomenal actress and this movie showed that. This movie gave an insight to a complex marriage. Many of the other movies consisting of a couple is usually something romantic and shows most of the good sides and good ones. However this movie takes you on a 360 and shows you another side of a married couple. It is a interesting movie and I think I would recommend it to others to watch it. However I dont think its a movie I can watch over and over again

This film was and is a classic Hitchcock film because of the humour shown in the movie. The actors Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason all played their roles very well which make the film a classic. A combination of suspense and adventure makes up this great film. The different scenes, acting and dialogues make this a film worth watching a few more times. It's a great thriller for any age range and is able to hook anyone in regardless of what kind of genre of films they like.

Psycho (1960)

psycho movie review
4 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film tested a lot of different areas and broke some boundaries in terms of what was in the movie itself. It was a very popular movie and still is a good movie to watch. The film has a combination of violence and sexual explicitness which was a reason why this was a popular movie back in 1960. The most iconic scene in the movie was the shower scene and the first time I saw the movie I could see why. Even though the scene wasn't as realistic it was still very violent and gory for that time period. It was in a sense a introduction to the psychological thriller and gory movies that we have now.

Singin' in the Rain
31 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After watching this musical film for the first time I have to admit it will go down as one of my favorites. From the catchy title song to each romantic, funny and emotional scene this film really does capture you. My favorite parts include the rain scene with the main character Gene Kelly and his happy jolly steps to the ending scene when the actual singer is revealed.

The Wizard of Oz review

This musical/film was and still is iconic. I have watched it so many times within the past few years and it is a musical that I can rewatch consistently. From beginning to end this musical film keeps you intrigued. It is lighthearted yet has a message within the film. Almost everyone that I know of any age knows what this film is or has heard of the film. A combination of comedy and music makes this film worth watching.

The storyline of this film was very interesting. There were also a lot of different twists through out the film which keeps the viewer intrigued. The lighting and shadows throughout the movie gave the movie a different edge to it which I really enjoyed. Any films regarding something suspicious happening or wants to foreshadow something should definitely incorporate "plays on lighting". Overall this is a movie I could watch again or recommend to someone I know.

double indemnity review
29 October 2020
This film was very interesting to say the least. I could say why many people had rated this either a 8, 9 or 10 stars. Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray had both played their roles very well. Some scenes included the staircase scene and the scene where they were discussing their plans. Even though some of the dialogues were cheesy it was still a very good film and the narration and scenes were very well excecated.

Warning: Spoilers
Calablanca is a well known film and rightfully so. The starting of the film gives you a voiceover of the cities significance. As the movie progresses it gets into the romance between the characters and also the escape and fight against the germans. Its a movie of a combination of love and sacrifice. This was a great film and one I would recommend to others to watch if they haven't

dark victory - insight on bette davis
27 October 2020
Bette Davis is known to be a very good actress and this film is a good example of why. The film itself was a cliche but it was portrayed very well. From having a not so interesting life, to her love interest and distraught moments the film "dark victory" was a well thought out film.Bette's performance was very powerful and a movie I would definitely watch again or recommend to others.

stagecoach review
27 October 2020
This western film in my opinion was a cliche film. Going into the film I was expecting more for some reason. However one thing that was intriguing about the film was the fact that there were so many different characters and each were extremely different from each other. Each actor executed their roles very well and the characters themselves were interesting. The thing about the film that didn't capture me was the fact it was another "cliche". Overall the movie was a good movie but not something I would watch again

my man godfrey review
27 October 2020
I have never been someone who watches a lot of movies dated during this time period. However after watching the film my man godfrey I can see why it is known to be one of the great screwball comedies. From the concept of the movie to the way the characters feelings were portrayed the movie was very entertaining. This romantic comedy is surprisingly a lot better than a lot of romantic comedies we have nowadays. It is definitely a film that I would recommend to others and something that I can even watch for a second time.

i am a fugitive from a chain gang review
29 September 2020
In the beginning of the movie you can sense the hope that all the men were feeling and what they would do with their lives. James along with the rest of the men seem very eager. However when he finally meets up with his family it doesn't quite go the way he expected. The movie has twists and turns showing how things may not pan out the way you may think. From having high hopes, to going back to a "regular life", to getting caught up in a huge mess. The movie i am a fugitive from a chain gang was a well executed film. The use of sound and the set ups/background of the scenes were well portrayed. The cinematography of the movie was great as well. This movie was nominated for best sound mixing, picture and also for best actor in leading role. Overall this was a great movie and worth watching. A well constructed film and one for the books.

insight on "the public enemy"
29 September 2020
I am always intrigued to see what types of "gangster" movies there are. Majority of them range from either extremely good or very poorly executed. In my opinion considering this movie was from 1931 I have to say that it was very well done. It gave an insight to the typ eof genre during that era. The plot of the story and the ending were very good. Everyone's dialogues in the movie and expressions were also very good. The movie's approach was very direct the portrayal of their life styles, slangs and scenery was well executed.

The Circus (1928)

the circus (charlie chaplin) review
29 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Charlie Chaplin is one of the great silent film actors. The first time I ever watched a silent film was one of his. However in the ranking lists of his movies "The Circus" was not at the top. In my opinion it is one of his underrated films. One thing about chaplin is that you can really feel the depth of the scene and the character's feelings just by his acting skills. His facial expressions are top tier in every single one of his film's including the circus. Another thing about his acting skills is that he every expression and act that he does is so organic that it is as if he is unintentionally funny. One scene specifically in "the circus" was when the ringmaster told charlie to be funny he was put on the spot but the minute that he was just "being himself" the scene was incredibly funny. He seemed lost and confused and trying so hard yet failing to do so which made everything funnier.

Warning: Spoilers
This Buster Keaton film was one of the greats. The twists and turns of Buster coming home and finally meeting his dad to him falling in love with his dad's arch nemesis made the film so good. Buster Keaton had played his character so well. From his facial expressions to the way he did his stunts just showed all of his talents. The one particular scene was when he was in the uniform and going back and forth on the boat and did a flip out of nowhere. These little stunts that he did made a huge impact because it was a silent movie. I have only watched one silent movie in my life. It was never a genre that I was/am a fan of. However this film as a whole may have changed my mind. The acting skills of each actor and actress was very well played.

Frankenstein Review
28 September 2020
The combination of genius and madness of the scientist doctor henry will forever make this movie one of the greats. The Frankenstein movie was one of the pillars for horror movies that included crazy scientists and doctors and monsters. The performance of the monster, the scientist and all the actors were very well played. The effects and scenes were also well executed. For a movie during this time in my opinion it was very good. The horror films over time have definitely progressed but this movie in particular was one of the iconic ones.

Dracula Review (overview)
26 September 2020
The movie Dracula was the setting stone for the horror genre. Even though the movie doesn't top some of the other scary movies I have seen there is a lot of suspense and eerieness. Everyone's opinion of whether or not it was one of the scariest movies will differ. Some of the things that caught my eye and made the movie more "creepy" then "scary" was the sounds, music and zooming in of characters. It gave you some chills. There are some scenes in the movie where it was not as polished and not as realistic however the overall movie was definitely one for the books. It also gives a insight to how far we have come with horror films. As one of the first few horror films I thought that the film itself was very good.
