South Park: Basic Cable (2019)
Simple, But Well Executed
Really, this episode is a welcome change of pace to the season. While the plot is nothing extraordinary, it's able to stay entertaining regardless.
However, this episode becomes more interesting for one major reason; Scott Malkinson actually gets to take center stage. After seeing this episode and the Vaccination Special, I'm legitimatly interested in the direction they'll take his character in. I'm always open to fleshing out side characters!
Yeah, that's really about it. See ya!
South Park: Free Hat (2002)
To Make A Long Story Short, It's A Rock-Solid Episode
For starters, the plot here is freaking hillarious. The idea of a group of people trying to free a child killer is outrageous enough as it is. But then you realize that it has nothing to do with what the four boys are trying to do, that being to stop directors from making changes to their movies. Somehow, the fact that these two groups with completely different goals somehow crossed paths is absolutely hillarious.
If I could make another comment about this episode, I liked what they did with Tweek here, especially in one scene towards the end. Seeing Tweek being brave for once while making homage to Raiders was a great bit, considering how he's usually too freaked out to do anything.
Finally, I'll say that the message here aged like a fine wine. With the amount of mediocre reboots that have come out in recent years, the episode's subject matter is able to stay fresh 20 years later. I really can't say enough good things about this episode. Definetely gets my reccomendation!
Chowder: Panini for President/Chowder's Babysitter (2008)
Both Great Episodes
These two episodes are both great examples of the show's brilliance.
For one, there's some great humor in "Panini For President". Thanks to the contrast between Chowder's naïve positivity and Gorgonzolla's cynical tendencies, their antics in the episode are hillarious to watch. Throw in a hillarious debate between Chowder and Panini at the end, and you have a very entertaining way to spend 11 minutes.
The second episode, "Chowder's Babysitter", is another good episode. Its premise is just plain golden; a manchild babysits a kid, and hillarity insues. It's just plain funny seeing the wacky journey that Gazpacho and Chowder take in the episode, which works quite given the strong dynamic the two characters have.
