Oderbruch (2024)
I am extremely impressed!
The sometimes completely unfair ratings can probably only be explained by the fact that you don't expect something like this on public television. Best vampire series I've ever seen. For the first few episodes, I didn't even think it was about vampires. Crazy!
The story, staging and actors are terrific, the main roles are all fantastically cast. The crazy thing about this fantasy story is that everyone reacts the way you would when confronted with vampire theories. In this respect - very realistic realization. The actors are also impressive in their performances as children. The cast is as good as in DARK. No kitsch, lots of sensitivity and emotion and a terrific finish! The fact that it takes place in several European countries and in different languages makes it even more interesting.
I watched the first 4 parts on TV and then, unable to wait, watched the remaining 4 the next day in the media library.
If this were on Netflix, it would be a hit!
I really hope for a sequel!
The Swarm (2023)
The Finnish (7/8) is terrific - now I'm in the mood for the book
I just saw the last two parts. Philipp Stölzl directed that one (Schachnovelle). It's actually pretty terrific! If you love a film like Contact, you'll love this too. Leonie Benesch: as Charlie Wagner is just as delightful as Jodie Foster.
"Boring" is that supposed to be? For me, this is the most exciting and inspiring thing I've seen in a long time and the best series ending I can remember.
The story is not mainstream one-size-fits-all (unlike the much worse Avatar 2). There isn't even an obligatory villain to fight (other than the human himself). That's also different from Avatar, thank goodness. It makes the balancing processes on the ship more believable.
When I then see that bad ratings for the saustarke finish were already given before the episodes appeared in the mediatheques, I can only wonder about the rating behavior of some people.
Maybe everyone who finds it too much of a hassle should watch the first part and then the last two parts right away. (Seriously meant!). Those who already don't like "Contact" should leave it alone.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Much better than Matrix 2 and 3 and a second chance
I don't understand the ratings of the whole season (Matrix 1-4). Matrix 1 is unmatched and that is reflected in the ratings. Matrix 2 and 3 are weak sequels reduced to action and shooting. I was so disappointed after Matrix 2 and 3 that I didn't even watch Matrix 4. Also because the trailer again looks like senseless shooting. All the more surprised I am now. Jetrzt only, in January 2023, I have seen Matrix Resurrections and am positively surprised. Vegesst Matrix Revolutions and Matrix Reloaded and try to imagine, there would never have been the two parts in the middle. This also fits with the ironic comments in the film, in which exactly that is implied. It's about the game "Matrix" degenerating into mindless shooting and at the end Neo and Trinity talk about a second chance. In my opinion, the scriptwriters took advantage of that. Maybe they should have trusted the story a bit more (at the end). The weak ratings probably come from the fact that Matrix is hardly seen by fans of the first hour today, but by action and mainstream fans.
For all the early fans who haven't seen Matrix 4 yet - check out Matrix Resurrections. It's not Matrix 1 yet (it can't be), but it's a real treat after the garbage in Matrix 2 + 3.
Ich bin dein Mensch (2021)
What a fantastic film!
I am very enthusiastic about this film. It's reminiscent of "Machines Like Me" by Ian McEwan, but better and more relevant. The main actors are fantastic and so are the direction and the book. Was there a better film this year?
