An error has ocurred. Please try againYou won't find a ton of sports or ecchi anime on this list (nothing against them) but I think theres a pretty decent variety otherwise. My favorites are often a mix of Shonen, Thrillers and Slice-Of-Life with a few niche picks here and there.
How I rate my anime:
STORY - What key elements keep you engaged and invested? Is the concept executed well? Are there any plot holes or loose ends? How original or generic is the story line?
CHARACTERS - Are the characters and their development believable? Whats the chemistry like between the main cast? Are the back stories good when applicable? Do our characters fall prey to tropes or cookie cutter tendencies?
PACING - Does the pace keep you engaged or does it drag along? Is it convoluted or hard to follow? Is there filler or recap episodes?
ANIMATION - This includes Art style, world building and character designs. How old the series is taken into consideration. Unique art style in a series like Kaiba for example can make up for lack of polished or low budget animation.
SOUNDTRACK - Personally speaking, the soundtrack can actually be one of my favorite things about anime. A good opening and/or ending theme can really boost the momentum in a show. A solid soundtrack also supports tone shifts and big turning points ect. when they happen.

Wonder Egg Priority (2021)
Hits close to home
This is another one of those short anime gems. It addresses a lot of real life issues like suicide, trauma and bullying. But the way its presented is really something special. I had some questions near the end but its hard to nitpick the show as a whole in light of what it accomplishes. Yaaa yeet.

Shinseiki Evangelion (1995)
It grew on me
I can see why so many people either seem to love or hate this show. Its a mix of mech battles, religious symbolism and psychological drama. I wasn't able to fully appreciate some of these elements until later in the show and its not for everyone. Its a master class tragedy with a small handful of flaws IMO. I went from wanting to give it 7 stars in the 1st half to 9 stars by the time it was over. Its one you got watch yourself to really see if you'll like it or not.
Steins;Gate (2011)
An ABSOLUTE essential
Oh man it's hard to express my love for this series. Steins; Gate is what I'd consider a benchmark for short anime. The plot, characters and soundtrack are all phenomenal. The English dub is among the best I've ever seen. And its equally funny as it is heart felt. I've seen over 40 anime and Steins; Gate is a contender for my favorite. It simply hits different.
Sora yori mo Tooi Basho (2018)
One of the best feel-good animes out there
This may just be the most wholesome anime I've yet to see. I thought the premise was a bit silly or cheesy at first but boy does it end up hitting close to home. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed!
Baccano! (2007)
Simply Amazing
By far one of the most unique anime I've yet to see. The story is hard to follow at first and some may find the initial amount of characters overwhelming. But its hardly a problem once the show establishes itself. Its easily one of the greatest 1 part anime out there and very underrated in this community. My only warning is to read lightly if you are sensitive to gore.
Devilman: Crybaby (2018)
Doesn't live up to the hype
I gotta be honest, this anime doesn't offer much outside of gore and fanservice. The character development is lackluster and parts of the show feel poorly executed or get in the way of the message its trying to accomplish with war and taboo. Was it entertaining? Yes. But to call it a masterpiece is a wild overstatement.
