The First Great Train Robbery (1978)
its brilliant, its funny, and has just the right touch of drama
Are there BETTER "Heist movies' ??? Well, Die Hard is hard to beat.. its a Heist movie, now, a Christmas Classic Heist movie.
But, this movie is simply fun. A list actors. A wonderful script, just the right doses of real drama.
No, its not based on history.
Its Connery and Sutherland, mostly taking over the flick, and working as well together as a Connery and Caine.
1800s setting, Jolly ol England.. robbing the un-robbable train..
anyone can see it down to 10 easily.. a few "slightly" sketchy interludes you might not want true youngsters to ask about.. thats about it..
kids though, wont "get" goodly portions of this movie, as it isnt filled with FX or car chases or flying superheroes.
For adults, its a great popcorn n soda Sat nite or lazy Sunday afternoon flick.
Really an 8.5, but they dont do "half" stars for us to use.
George and the Dragon (2004)
escapist fun, family can watch and enjoy
Simple things can be enjoyable.
This isnt competing with massive budgets like Lord of the Rings, or Arthur: Legend of the Sword, or "The Last Legion"
not much real blood, almost no "guts", hardly a swear word.
Its like a 50's reboot, but in 50's style.
Its a bit campy, and its SUPPOSED to be.. some comedy, some seriousness, and just light hearted adventure.
Wanna watch with young kids ?? Go ahead..
Some A list stars having a go in a B movie setting.
Just grab or cook some popcorn, and enjoy..
