Carnival of Souls (1998)
"Not for the Ignorant"*Spoilers Ahead*
This movie has obviously been lost on those looking for a Slasher/Blatant Horror Film. This film is Completely Psychological. Alex Grant (Bobbie Phillips) is a woman who while drowning has her "Life Flash Before Her Eyes". The whole film actually takes place in her mind as she comes to terms with her life, and finally accepting Death. Similar in this way to "Jacob's Ladder". When you actually realize this is what's happening, it is interesting to watch it again and see how things were made clear from Alex's Point of View. Maybe if some of the "Reviewers" watch it again with this in mind, they'll realize what a Wonderfully Complex film this really is!
The Crow: Stairway to Heaven (1998)
Should've run with Bobbie Phillips as Talon!
I saw this series only a handful of times. I tuned in because I heard the extraordinary Bobbie Phillips was going to be on. I thought her character was wonderful-she played it perfectly too! I watched for the next several weeks (of course hoping Bobbie would be on). Some of the episodes were interesting, others forced me to change the channel. I think after Brandon Lee in the original, it's hard to continue with the "Eric Draven" character. Bobbie's character as the VERY FIRST FEMALE CROW would have been more original and interesting to continue the story of THE CROW.
Die Abzocker - Eine eiskalte Affäre (2000)
Bobbie makes it worth seeing...
Although I became a fan of Bobbie Phillips' watching her in action roles "Chameleon" and "The Crow", she proves to be an actress with extensive acting talent. She is superb in all the roles she plays in this film. The film, I thought, was okay but a little slow. Maybe because I'm a big action fan. Even so, I enjoyed watching Ms. Phillips' performance so much I have to give the film an 8 out of 10.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
Sad to say, Not Good.*BEWARE* POSSIBLE SPOILERS
The ads were exciting, Angelina is beautiful, they had Hollywood Big Budget Money, What happened? Maybe the money went for all the hype and exotic locations (which were barely seen). There really is no story.Lara gets what she's after early on. The villain is boring. The action is okay at times but nothing special. The tv ads were the best part of the movie. I for one am very disappointed.
The Matrix (1999)
Who says Great Action Movies Can't be Deep? *Possible Spoilers
Amongst great action and special effects is a movie that makes you ponder reality. The theme to the movie for me is: Is Ignorance Bliss? Do you continue living day by day with blinders on to what's really around you or Do you dare to think out of the box? Mix one man's quest for truth with great action and special effects and you have one amazing action film!
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Gets better every time...
I just watched it again and I enjoyed it as much if not more than the first! The humor amongst the violence is done in such a way it causes such mixed emotion that I feel like I've been on a great roller coaster by the end! Tarantino pulled something off that is rarely done well in film. I think this is one of the most enjoyable and creative movies ever made!
