Odin (1985)

Liked it has a kid. Not so much has an adult
15 May 2024
If You take one of the more blander Star Trek episode, and extend it to one hour and a half, you'll get Odin: Photon Sailing Ship Starlight.

Just one big boredom to next, with occasional decent looking animated space battle. No reason to describe the plot because there is near to none.

I rented the VHS version from Manga Entertainment, years and years. I liked it back then. Saw it on Youtube recently and a give it a second go, i couldn't hardly keep my eyes on the screen, i was so bored.

Often when you're a kid, you are easily impressed, i guess.

If you're trying find something else after watching Macross: Do you remember love?

Skip this and just re-watch Macross.

Xenogenesis (1978)

A great start for a career
1 July 2022
I've seen several first short films by Directors, and some few show the brilliant talent that their later movies have. James Cameron's Xenogenesis not only shows his technical talents, it shows that he can make a spectacle on the same level of his future movies in his own house (or in his garage) with a much less of a budget then the Terminator had cost.

Though a fun short ride, it is however just a short Special effects ride, where the actors are the prop and its apparent that no attempt at screen writing was made since the whole thing is just a one single scene.

Bubsy (1993 TV Movie)

Has all the flaws 90s cartoons had
30 June 2022
Several cartoon of the 90s often tried to be "hip" and "cool" in attempt to gather has much young audience has they could. Characters with attitude and lots of slapstick, catchphrases. Though some did win its audience and later gained fanbase, some were were absolute duds and would years later become cringe to those who actually sat through them in their childhoods.

And if Bubsy, for some calamitous reason, did get green lit and had whole series, the memories would have been insufferable.

This single was unbearable enough.

More fun then i expected
28 June 2022
I wasn't a fan of Disney's Hercules when it was new. But after a re-watch some 20 years later or so, i found it to be enjoyable.

I decided to take a peek at its TV-show spin-off, and it is fun (though less, lot less colorful and fluid), though it should be called a prequel, since it follows Hercules in his teens.

I kinda like it
17 December 2021
A sweet story about a young boy and his loyal dog. The only problem is that the dog is a devils spawn, going around town murdering people and using their body parts for Satanic rituals and orgies. The only one who knows what he is the Grandfather, but who would believe a senile old man?

And that's the story. Is it any good? Sure, if you're looking for a cheap laughs. The show knows that it is a schlock and never tries to rise above that. Be warned though, it doesn't hold back on violence and gore.

Boy all alone in a rising new world
27 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In a old rural town, a young boy deals with daily struggles, being constantly bullied by classmates and mocked and shunned by all the adults. A torture that ends with bloody conclusion. All the while the town is in constant change, a construction of an Airport and rail tracks whose machines bring misery and devastation to the town.

Guess this is an allegory of how governments treats the lower classes all around the world, which makes the film somewhat interesting.

However, the animation and images are being thrown onto the viewer almost at speed of light, making it a chore to sit through. (Do not watch if you are epileptic)

Made by the same Director who made the controversial film Midori (1992), and there few shocking images in this, but not on the same level has Midori.

Marvel meets Shaw Brothers
27 October 2021
An awkward desk job man roams the nights has a malevolent magic magistrate, punishing those who have done wicked things to others. One day he may gotten more than he bargained for when his next target is revealed to be none other then his own boss.

Campy fun straight to video anime. I was never bored with it. But it may not be for everybody, so don't hold you hopes up high.

The Shout (1978)

Power of a man is his voice or "Shout"
9 August 2021
At an out-country Psychiatric Hospital, a man (Alan Bates) tells a story about a couple (John Hurt and Susannah York), living in a house outside of an unnamed Village are suddenly intruded by the storyteller whose agenda is (i think) enforce himself has the dominant man in the household. The man claims to have stayed with an Aboriginal tribe for some years and learned from tribes Shaman a powerful shout that can kill living beings within miles and can make any woman fall for him.

Has its all told through a man in a psychiatric care, one can realize that the mans words are not to be entirely believed. But yet, there might be some truth to it.

Unusal, but interesting series
7 August 2021
A folk tale like series that bases its storytelling almost solely on narration. Being made in that sort of way would make you think that it would be dull experience. But quite the opposite, it gives away this sort of vibe, like its teaching us the terrifying "imagined?" experiences of its (sometimes) oddball or disturbed characters. Like a sort of Psychiatric study.

who done it or rather "who bit it"
31 July 2021
An Agatha Christie story but with a werewolf on the loose instead of mad killer Judge "hint hint". Its an okayish time waster if you have nothing else to watch.

A Vampire with night terrors
3 December 2018
Series of three minute Shorts, that consist with bizarre adventures of a Vampire Bat with pair of teeth that look like they were taken from a Walrus, who in each night is doing a one simple chore or activity that starts turning into a really weird and sometimes scary experience that in the last minute before something awful happens end up with him waking up in his coffin.

Its like if Salvador Dali decided to make cartoon.

Beato!!!!
6 January 2017
In a distant future, (my guess is 2010) Scoopers centers around two reporters who are on the trail of a mad terrorist that goes under the name of Mister X who is sabotaging all space programs and all the satellites. The reporters Yoko and Beat or Beato (who's an android btw) soon find Mister X secret hideout, a Robot Theme park and you can guess how the rest goes.

A one hour Ova anime, which caught my attention because it was Directed by Monkey punch the creator of Lupin the 3rd.

Its just your standard stuff but fun for what it is. I had a fun time watching it.

A Christmas Story (1972 TV Movie)

I actually thought i dreamed this
17 December 2016
For a longest time i always had this faint memory of some Christmas related cartoon, that i think i might have seen in sometime in my childhood. It must have only aired once (in my country at least).

But of course the internet saved the day on this upcoming Christmas and i could finally take a look at that almost forgotten flick.

And its just. bleh.

Story: Someone forgot sent poor Timmy's letter to Santa, so its up to a Clever little mouse and his Dog companion bring the letter to Santa, before he goes to Timmy's chimney.

And that's about it.

There's is not much to go for in this Hanna-Barbera flick except their typical cheap looking animation and their typical cheap slapstick. There was this one song that was enjoyable and Dogs voice actor is the one who played Tigger. But still i would not want to sit through this again.

Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize
7 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The silent era is filled all sorts of strange surrealistic features, and The Haunted House enters you into a really fun and strange experience that no one should miss.

The story is simple, three friends take shelter to an abandoned old house where all sorts of spooky things (for them at least) starts to happen such has disappearing chairs and luggage's and dishes and cups moving on their own, Demon appearing in paintings and specter's taking possessions of their clothing. And that's about it.

A fun little spectacle with nice camera effects for its time.

If you are fan of George Mélés than this is a must see.

Beautiful and Charming Lindgren story.
29 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Its really hard for me to describe how wonderful this film is and how much magic it holds.

The story centers around a young girl named Ronja and her family of robbers living in a castle that got split in two parts by an earthquake during her birth. One day another robber family moves inn to one part of the castle and a young boy called Birk belongs to that family and the two children start to develop a brother and sister relationship, but the two robber families have a history of rivalry witch keeps them apart. Fed up with their families they run away to live together alone.

Astrid Lindgren has some of the most wonderful children stories and Ronja Rövardotter is most definitely one of her best and the film does a perfect justice to the book.

Every children should watch this wonderful film

Hmmm?
16 July 2009
I simply don't know what this movie is about because there is hardly any story in this film, even at the very end of it you don't have a single clue what was going on there.

the little that What i found out that its about three three teenagers on a trip on a mountain they get stranded right in front of an abandoned hotel (what are the odds?) that turns out that there's an old woman who lives there with her son, and they learn that there's some mysterious secret hidden in basement, and after we see whats hidden in the basement the movie starts to make no sense whats so ever.

maybe there are some people out there who can understand the plot but i don't and i really don't wanna find out what its about.
