What was up with the victim narrative for the father in the end?... (pun intended)
29 December 2022
Entered the movie hoping for witty feminist rhetorics, left it disappointed, as the ending made it painfully obvious the director was a man oblivious to any such ideas. The plotline of the story, although wombling a little bit, was able to stand on its own, however, what really made the movie pop was its simple, yet beautiful cinematography. Despite being constrained to one place, the cameras were able to masterfully capture the warm, homely feel of a Christmas night in a villa. The ladies did a swell job acting, however I must mention that youngest daughter's (Caterina, as I believe) behaviour was unbearable to watch - yet I'd put the finger on the director for the faults of such an unlikable character.

All in all, 5/5. Had the potential to become a Christmas classic, was dragged down by a pretty stupid plotwist and an undeserving victim narrative of the father.
