This is Fine

Studio Ghibli are known for rather beautiful films set around human connection, I think Whisper of the Heart is definitely a nice film, it just doesn't do as well in communicating experiences as well as other films have. The big issue is the pacing, it is a little awkward and creates a film that only really starts about 45 minutes in. Other than these issues the characters and story all make sense and wrap up neatly in a quick but important ending.

Ghibli's Sweetest
4 January 2021
When Marnie was There is a fantastic entry into the Ghibli catalogue and offers and grounded and emotional coming of age story. Truly a masterful piece of cinema, using its beautiful animation to carry the emotional rich stories and incredible characters. Hiromasa Yonebayashi shows off his incredible skills as a filmmaker rivalling the genius founder of studio ghibli himself. Overall When Marnie was There offers an emotionally rich story that delves into the psyche of a mentally ill girl as she learns to love herself through the amazing Marnie.

Not a Worthy Successor

Wonder Woman 84 is an interesting film as it holds together quite well, but has far too many issues to be considered good or even average. The pros would have to include the cinematography, the score, Pedro Pascals Maxwell Lord and Diana and Steve's chemistry, but the film is weighed down by unnecessary characters and unnecessary plot filler. This leads to a film that has an off putting mixture of some good and a lot of bad, leaving me with an empty output on the film as a whole.

Strange and Gorgeous

Spirited Away is a must see for all fans of beautiful animation and quirky story telling. Hayao Miyazaki's talent for bringing interesting and quirky characters to life, into a world that seems strangely real is sinply unmatched. Chihiro is a young girl brought into the spirit realm, through her brilliant characterisation and character arc, the story is fully realised. Although occasionally the pacing of the film can be halted, altogether it is a well crafted, well written and incredibly well animated film.

Head Count is Interesting
15 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I got the amazing opportunity to watch head count and it was pretty bad. So this movie is based around some guy who like has no parents (which is set up halfway through) and his Chad brother who is a legend (but our protagonist is rude to him). They meet some randoms in like a rock and he joins them to do the main girl. He stays with them at like a house and he summons a demon by reading some online story. The bad; basically a large chunk of the movie. The good; there's actually a surprisingly good scene at the end where we discover that the demon only kills, or is summoned when there are five people and puts a finger down when in the background we see a character slitting their wrist. Anywho if you like poor acting, no characters and everyone hating on a legit good guy you will love this movie. It's supposed to be horror but is generally more of a suspenseful film.
