Ash vs Evil Dead (2015)
Ash is back with a bang !
I've watched Evil Dead 1 and 2 long time ago and they were pretty horror-like movies, at least for me. Then I watched Army of Darkness the 3rd part in the series and was more humor than horror, but boy did this movie stuck with me. If is still one of my favorite movies of all time and if you haven't seen it, do it now ! Ash vs Evil Dead is just Army of Darkness with episodes and not making any moment of it dull. It has quickly become so addictive that I currently can't wait for every new episode. This is now truly one the greatest shows up to date. I'm so happy that it takes everything great from Army of Darkness and expends it into new heights
Breaking Bad (2008)
A simple work of art, a series that will be remembered
When I started watching the show I was excited to see Hal from Malcolm in the Middle (Bryan Cranston), as Malcolm is still my favorite comedy series. It never bores me to re-watch and that is something that makes a show amazing for me. On the other hand, I simply cannot re-watch again Breaking Bad, I can with a friend, but not alone. It's not that it's anything close to bad of whatever, it just has that strange effect of awesomeness that I cannot even begin to explain. IF I could wish to forget something, I would wish to forget Breaking Bad so that I can watch it all over again. In the beginning I did not understand whether it was a drama, comedy, thriller and by the end I still cannot determine. There are moments of everything, but in general it is just plain genius. I'm not gonna repeat the synopsis, but let me just say that once you start watching it and I'm not saying watching only 1st and 2nd episode, but give it several more you'll understand how unique is this show from every other you've seen. I guess one way to describe it is that it is now far from really and what really can happen. There also other just fantastic shows but not a lot can have everything perfect, the ending being the toughest part probably. Breaking Bad nails it brilliantly here as well. It was sad to know that this amazing show is ending, but it is sadder to see a great show just being ruined by prolonging it unnecessarily. The end of this one though, completes the whole package in an astonishing way.
One last word for the casting - Bryan, Aaron, Anna, Dean, Bob all play phenomenal job, it was like they were born for these roles and none else. If you've seen Malcolm in the Middle, you have a great treat to see the difference in Bryan's roles and how he plays them.
Supernatural (2005)
Very mediocre series
We are living in years where there are series like Breaking Bad, Dexter, Game of thrones....and this series is very bad.
All in all it has potential and some nice episodes and story lines at some points, but that about it. In a season of 22-23 episodes you have at least 15 of them are fillers (episodes that don't contribute at all to the main plot and if missed, nothing will be lost). This is a complete waste, especially if you want your viewers to be immersed in some plot story.
After season 6, the main plot...is done, from that point on it is season for season to think of something stupid in order the series to continue on. The fillers always there, to screw even the slightest interest of the plot.
The cool things are Dean's jokes and from time to time the ridiculous episode scenario they come up with.
It is not a small budget show, but it is regrettably wasted on bad script writers who can't seem to think how to make an intriguing series.
If every season had 4-5 episodes, then it would be great, cause the plot will be followed and every episode somewhat interesting. So if you like some relatively cheap shows, with jokes and don't really care about a serious plan where things are going and progressing, well then you are in luck - supernatural is for you. Bad thing is, X Files was created first.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
A little bit disappointed
From the beginning of this movie you can clearly see that this is Michael Bay movie. If you've seen the transformers movies, then you would know what I mean. I starts with some hint of nice story, but then...it fails to deliver. The story itself is...not very intriguing. They also strayed a little from the original beginning of the turtles which is very adequately portrayed in several cartoon adaptations, but why change it in the movie...who knows, maybe some genius though it would be better. Well...no! This is a portrayal of a cartoon classic and if you want it to reach the fan base of the classic, you make it stick to its roots and what made it great, not take chunks of what you like and throw away the other stuff. Shredder, wow I didn't think I'd see Optimus prime in the Turtles movie, but I guess I was wrong. The whole time I was watching Shredder, the only words that hung around in my head were "WTF"!!!!!!! Seriously, WTF was this !?!? This was what blew me off in the trailer, but I was kinda hopping it wasn't gonna be true or be just for a small/tiny part. WRONG ! The acting - well you know the actors, you should be familiar with what they're capable of. April's role in the movie, was just being there and making it harder for the turtles to complete their job, seriously if she wasn't there, they'd be better off, but I guess this is as far as the thinking of the role was - nuisance.
Overall I give it a 5, just because of the jokes, animation and seeing what a buffed up steroid induced turtles would look like (yes, I'm especially looking at you Rafael - you just gotta stop with the damn anabol)
Vampire Academy (2014)
Don't just don't watch this
I rarely write reviews, but when I do, they are either for a very good movie or for a horrific one. This is for the later. Oh my god, this movie is so awful that Twilight might be considered a better movie and this is still generous. But if for some very strange reason you like Twilight (REAAAAALLY strange reason, for such a bad movie) then lower you bar even more. The plot is ridiculous and simple. The acting...looks more like a high school tryhards. All in all, consider yourself lucky if you haven't seen it yet, if you do - I pity you. And for the love of god, why is the IMDb rating so high !!! It totally screwed with me to watch it
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)
Oh my God......
From the years I've watched many movies and I like a lot, although they were not really good one in rating, but still my tolerance for crappy movies is pretty high. This one however sets the bar so high for crappy movies, that you will not be able to see it with binoculars in a launched space shuttle!
I tried, I reaaaaaally tried to see it from a certain aspect in which it would appear pleasing, but I could not find one. Everything in it is done awfully bad, to the point of vomit at place.
If by any chance you gave something more than 1 hour and 30 minutes time, you should ask for a refund
Rating: Unholy Awful crap
Mr. Brooks (2007)
Exceptional movie, brilliant execution and idea
It's easy to write a review for a good movie or a bad one for that matter, you just start saying which are the good parts or the ones that sucked.
Mr. Brooks however, is not a good movie, it is not bad as well - it a masterpiece. The idea behind it is so brilliant, so fantastically written and then executed by the exceptional performance of Kevin Costner and William Hurt. It is magnificent to watch the two struggle with their own desires and how each one is fighting the other for dominance.
I cannot stress enough how rare it is to come up with something unique and then realize it in a great movie. This is so hard to accomplish and we can see how most of the movies today are either about effects or some over the top action without something good (as a conception) behind it.
Truly if you have missed this movie, you've missed much. No matter your preference in genre, this movie will entertain you.
Game of Thrones (2011)
A Song for the eyes and mind
There is no word to explain my gratitude to the Directors and George Martin for not messing with the main story in the books and adapting the show right as it should be, no like the mokery named "Legend of the Seeker".
For newcomers, this show is unlike what you normally see on TV, much as the books are. Everything is so real and every decision and turn of events is like what could've happen if this story was in the real world.
Every episode is a great feast for the eyes and must be seen if you are a fan of fantasy series.
Tooth Fairy (2010)
Surprisingly funny
To be honest I am a huge fan of Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) from back in the WWF days, and since then I haven't missed a movie he has made.
From the beginning of this movie it started a little slow and childish. I was about to slam this movie to the category of disaster, but right about after the first 20-25 minutes it started to be a delight. From a childish story, Dwayne put the movie a little above the 5 year old mark with some quite funny acting, jokes, lines and this was the part that really started to grow on me.
Yes you can predict what is going to happen, yes you know it is about kids, yes it's target audience is bellow 18, but despite all that it was a nice and funny movie.
One very important thing about it is that I can watch it again, all because of some of the ridiculous scenes in it. They really shine nicely here.
Legend of the Seeker (2008)
It's good and it's horribly bad
There are 2 types of viewers for these series - the ones that have read the books and the ones that haven't. Now I cannot begin to describe how big of a fan I am of the Sword of Truth novels, and when I heard that it will be finally realized on screen, I couldn't be happier. Well I was sorely disappointed when I saw the first episode. I really didn't like one bit what I saw and regretted ever seeing it. After a year or so, I sat again and made myself to watch the whole 1st season. Now if you are like me and have read the books, well I'm just going to tell you, this is NOT the books it just relates to them. Make sure that when you start watching the series you know that what you are watching is NOT "Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind but "Sword of Truth 2", with a completely different storyline. From another point of view, if you haven't read the books, then these series are quite entertaining, sometimes little amateur with the slow motion effects and acting, but overall very good. To wrap it up - I am VERY disappointed that they didn't even care to realize what was already great in the books, instead they just went on and created a new plot and storyline with some basic facts from the books. This was certainly not what I was expecting, but still, it's also interesting to see another way the books could have been written. Overall: 0 - for realization and desecration of the "Sword of Truth" series 7 - for TV Series entertainment
Speed Racer (2008)
Expected much more
I went to the cinema expecting another spectacular show from the "brothers", but I was sadly disappointed. The movie proved what I actually though it was, a huge special effect show, but apart from that is can be defined by only one word - CHILDISH. I am can definitely say that everyone with age 12 and below would love this movie, but come one, this is ridiculous! I give it a 4 four just, because of the idea for the movie and the effects, but in any other aspect it deserves at the most 1 star. I really reaally do hope that this movie does not have a sequel or at least, put some cartoon characters next, so that I know what I'm going to see when I enter the cinema.
