The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019)
If only it were true
Loved it, what a great alternate take on the tragedy. I don't think I've ever felt so satisfied with a "Fantasy" scenario being acted out. As with many I of course wish this had been the way things went instead of the other way around. I loved the supernatural element to this film and the philosophical arguments about fate and destiny. I honestly think it goes way above many people's head, and with that and the pan campaign, which the reasons for it are a total arrogant and entitled joke the low score by the mob pearl clutching sheep is actually quite humorous to me.
If you understand that you'll just ignore the score considering 95% of them have zero to do with the film itself. Brutal, deep thoughts, and a wonderful alternate "Wish" view, even though the story remains the same, it is nice to see what could have been, even approaching a tear up at the ending.
Fritt vilt III (2010)
A Prequel To Die For
I say ignore the haters, they do so gotta hate. This one had me by the grapes. As I went through the franchise one after the other in one sitting, I found myself in awe of how they managed to traverse 3 different genre settings perfectly. Each film felt different yet connected. Getting to see how our killer became what he became to some extent was mesmerizing. On future marathons I will know to watch this one first to keep them chronologically correct in the timeline. As a trilogy, this is one of the best slasher trilogies out there, with it's own unique signature and all will be classics for the future.. If you haven't seen this trilogy you are indeed missing a work of true slasher art.
Fritt vilt II (2008)
Sequel Perfection
I really fell in love with this franchise, from first to last. I love the way all 3 follow a different slasher formula, and "ode to". The first being shades of The Shining, this one being shades of Halloween 2 and the final prequel being Friday The 13th + a touch of Chainsaw Massacre. As to this one, it scared me way more than Halloween 2, which is sort of borrows the setting from. It takes what was great about H2 and shoots it with adrenaline. You just can't really go wrong with this franchise, if you are a horror/slasher fan. I adore it to the core and wish there were more.
Fritt vilt (2006)
A monster for slasher fans
This whole series has been a bone chill and scream fest for me. I found them recently, and the 3rd was so hard to find to watch, but I managed it. I instantly went and grabbed the 1st 2 from the Big E for my collection, though the 3rd is impossible to find. I suppose you just have to settle for the HQ file that is circulating. This movie was just great, everything was perfect, superb characters, Mysterious backstory, great kills, and flawless ending. A total must have for slasher fans, those with taste and whom still retain legit fun for cinema. (No "Critics" need apply). Give it a shot, you can't go wrong.
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)
Perfects 70s Throwback
The predictability of it is comforting and not too complicated. There's a nice twist at the end that ties it all together. It's a an easy teen slasher movie. Checks all the boxes. I did like the grindhouse aspect of the movie. It felt like a classic outsider revenge thriller. The story starts out like a classic '70s horror film. A horrific accident leaves a person dead, another blamed, and Mandy in flux since the death revolved around her. The movie then goes to the trope of a countryside retreat. All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is an intentional throwback that attempts to be modern at the same time. The movie will please horror fans if you give it the chance it deserves.
Sick Boy (2012)
Nice effort
Almost seemed like a 28 Days Later "this is how it got loose" prequel. It's low budget for sure, but it's not near as bad as some of these trolls make it. It certainly scared me in places and I've seen a WHOLE lot worse films. This was actually gross and tense fun for me. Glad I hunted it down after being told I might like it. They did a good job making the kid pretty scary. I'd love to see a big budget version of this.
In the Blood (2014)
Nice Ride
I really enjoyed the role reversal in this film, with Gina being the savior. It's nice to see a strong female lead being the hero, usually only seen in vengeance movies. Here we have Gina protecting her spouse and being the protagonist, doing the saving and doing the fighting, we need more of this type of roles for females, not all guys have to be the strong one. Girls can be the hero/protector too in a situation other than vengeance or motherly roles, as this film proves.
Acting is fine, storyline is good, and of course the action is well done and believable. Cinematography is well done aside form a fee shaky cams, but seem to be appropriately placed. Enjoyed, certainly worth having a collection. I still like Scorched Earth better, really dug that film, but this is certainly a nice addition to anyone's collection.
