Wormwood (2017)
90 Minute Movie not 6 episodes
One episode dragged out over and over into 6 episodes... Ending obvious... To bad an interesting story... Should have been a movie
Be interesting to learn the details from Seymour Hersh when his source passes or another source corroborates story at passing.
Som obviously smart like his father could have done something special for society... Instead he wasted away his life... But a heck of a lot of people would do exactly the same thing in similar circumstances... He was changed at an early age by this event
Sorry just not worth your time... Potential B rated sleeper film dragged out for six hours... Same shots over and over, the norm.
Kampen om Narvik (2022)
Huh?
Neutral Sweden's iron ore was important to Britain and Hitler pre-WW2... With the start of WW 2 and the closing of the Baltic Sweden's iron ore became critical to Nazi Germany... Sweden supplied nearly 50% of German supply, essential for tanks and more importantly submarines...
With Britain losing access it was important to stop ore being transferred via rail to Norway's Narvik... Many British, French, Poles and Norwegian soldiers lost their lives... Many Norwegian citizens lost their lives... Germany bombed Narvik into the Stone Age
Like many movies since the late 70s the choose of hero, heroine and story line diverges from heroic sacrifice, good versus evil... A collaborator and deserter are to be emulated as correct thinkers amongst the sacrifice
There is no mention of the production stopped listed at the end... There is no mention of the Tom's of shipping sunk by German subs at the end... There is no mention of total lives lost in WW2 both uniformed and civilian... Did the war end a day or a week early without the steel from this ore?
Four stars for a watchable dubbed movie.
Frontier (2016)
ludicrous!
Lu·di·crous...
So much great North American History... Incredible action movies everywhere, no need for such absurdity
Why not Benedict Arnold... Anri-American complex story with gorgeous women in period clothing... Fort Ticonderoga... Boston Harbor Guns... Saratoga... Philadelphia... West Point
Want more rustic... Ethan Allen... Green Mountain Boys... Dort Ticonderoga... Boston Harbor Guns... Montreal... Prison Ship
Why unnecessary idiocy.
Waiting for the Barbarians (2019)
Slow, Depressing, Pointless
The point of the movie is humans are depressingly cruel... Problem is it's made in the first few minutes of the flick
The movie moves at a snails pace pointlessly... Unless the monotonous point is humans are depressingly cruel ad nauseam... Particulary, Western humans are cruel, the rest being peace loving and wishing to be left alone
To bad, the acting is great... Problem is absolutely no story...
A completely unknown setting might be ok if a single character other than the magistrate was developed... A completely ambigious colonial power that seems French Foreign Legion then perhaps German might be ok if there was a story...
I guess Depp is good.. Like all the characters other than the magistrate he is never developed... Anyone could play a bad man in sun glasses, Depp's second in command is identical...The child catcher in the kids flick Chitty Chitty Bang Bang would be perfect
Does any rational watcher believe there wouldn't be a local nomad acting as a guide, or descendant of a local living just outside the fort that could have transported the abused young lady so the magistrate wouldn't endanger his troops... Certainly there are enough legitimate true local native tales of abuse iin every corner of the globe in addition to horrid colonial abuse to use if the book couldn't be translated into a watchable film... A true story with the location and powers known would have no risk of being slower or more aimless
I'm guessing this is a classic case of a good book horribly transformed into a screen play
If you want to watch a depressing pointless movie or monotonous to be generous, this is the one.
Sahara (1995)
Disappointment
It's amazing the 1942 version in simple black and white was better in every way. Ruined a good simple movie with terrible dialog and acting. Belushi is no Bogart.
Shadowlands (1986)
No Brian's Song
Brian's song without Brian Picalo... There isn't a single character developed enough to care about... The pace is unbearably 1950s slow... The woodsy outdoor shots should be beautiful but somehow don't work, 60s Christmas movie esque... Was the writer of the Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe a scholar really this boring... The writing is atrocious, the actors didn't have a chance... It's a failed attempt to study deep thoughts... Instead of being broken hearted Brian, in this case Joy is dying, I couldn't wait for the movie to end.
The Fighting Temptations (2003)
Waste of Talent
Beyoncé could have had anyone in this movie about a lead singer in a choir and the choir director... Not a single memorable song... Whitney had "I will always love you" and probably three more memorable pieces in The Bodyguard...
The movie was poorly written and directed, it wasn't funny and you didn't care about a single character.
Pinocchio (2019)
Roberto Benigni
Roberto Benigni is unbearable... Begnigni, plays Benigni like Woddy Allen plays Woddy Allen in every movie...
Benigni somehow is more eccentric and more unbearable then Allen... Benigni like Allen specializes in movies so stupid they are expected to be funny... If you enjoy Mel Brooks, The Three Stooges and Airplane 1,2, 3... 99... type movies there is a 1/4 chance you'll love it and not be bored...
Waste of a great opportunity... Pinoche to be honest isn't my thing but has potential to be remade for children or adults, or children and adults... This isn't it.
Galahad (2016)
Interesting
If you were alive when this happened and found the international daily story interesting, Galahad is worth a gander... Like the US activity in Granada and Panama knew the actual story would gradually appear over years and receive tons of coverage in England and none here... The rest of the story.
