Thanksgiving (I) (2023)

Good Gory fun
20 November 2023
So I saw this film opening day , I wasn't expecting much just a decent hour and a half slasher and I have to admit I was pretty shocked and impressed.

This was both absolutely hilarious and horrifying and I had sooooo much fun with !

Eli Roth is always praised for his crazy deaths in his movies, and this one 100% measures up as one of his best creative kill films and in general being his best film.

You can see a lot of planning / passion went into the movie as a project since the grindhouse trailer and the cast were all very invested in making it an exceptional and enjoyable slasher .

It's stands out as one of the better slasher horror films I have seen in a while .

And it will definitely go on to being a classic thanksgiving movie .

People , just go in blind , suspend your mind and have fun with it !

Enjoy !

Well that was bloody creepy

A creative new take on an ouija board with so much more to say !

I loved the concept of the hand it was so new and original , yet the movie still holds that idea of what can happen when u don't close "the door" .

I would highly recommend this movie to friends to see , it's majorly creepy but still entertaining and a gripping story . Everyone gives a pretty good performance but Sophie Wilde is really impressive in her role , it's role that would've required for you to have a lot of confidence and talent all of which she portrays on screen with such bold brilliance.

I believe she will be cast in a lot of movies in the future.

I also want to give credit to the directors.

Danny Philippou, Michael Philippou .

This was brilliant please make more movies !

Mia Goth deserves an Oscar nomination!

The film itself is the Texas chainsaw massacre crossed with whatever happened to Babay jane.

In short, its brilliant.

It provides a interesting look into the past of X's antagonist of the appropriately named movie, Pearl.

Mia Goth is incredible in this movie, the part where her characters deliver her monologue is nothing short of brilliant.

Quite frankly she deserves at the very least an Oscar nomination.

If she isn't nominated, I'm going to extremely annoyed.

Her talents deserve immense recognition, just watch the film and you'll see what I mean.

In all honesty it's a slightly better movie than X and i loved X !

Psycho Biddy's just make the best movies ever i think!

A classic horror masterpiece!
22 October 2022
To put it quite plainly this movie is worth the hype.

I can definitely see why it is one of the most highly upheld movies of all time and not just in the horror genre.

The film not only displays the claustrophobic and haunting environment of the overlook hotel but the ways in which it can turn people into monsters simply from staying within it.

Jack nickleson quite frankly is terrifying in this and I actually squirmed watching the bit where he was talking to the butler in the bathroom fully well knowing he was going to go mad !

It's worth watching not only for it being one of the best films ever made but simply for the experience, this film makes its audience uncomfortable and it's so incredible!

Suspenseful and psychological disturbing!
22 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When I first started watching this movie I expected it to be your run of the mill haunted house/psych ward horror with a few jumpscares here and there.

This film is farrrr Better than that and all of its haunts are psychological and really quite testing!

I found my self highly engrossed in the movie and at first thought it was the ghosts perhaps possessing the hospital itself , but in the final words of the movie the ghosts live within the weak and the broken.

The twist was solid and very believable and the tape recordings actually have me the utter chills !

I highly recommend watching this movie if you are a fan or Hereditary or Mother , it's definitely more of a psychological horror and the ending is pretty shocking .

It turns into the movie you didn't expect it to be , in the best way possible!

A dark descent....
3 March 2021
So listen out movie goers if you like films like the Nun (2018), The curse of La Lorona (2019) and overall just films that rely oh too strongly on jump scares don't even bother watching this movie - because honestly your probably the type of person that gave Hereditary (2018) 1 star. If you base how good a movie is on the amount of times you jumped watching a horror movie - you suck at watching movies. The Hole in the ground is a psychological masterpiece and although you may not realise that due to it not being mentioned in the movie you may need to read this review and watch it again. Sarah's slow descent into madness is mostly present within the symbolism of the movie, you don't need to see it completely displayed by the actor. It is mentioned that Sarah has suffered greatly in the past being the victim of domestic abuse (she has already been betrayed by one person her husband whom is supposed to love her), however her trauma is only present within one single scar and not in flashbacks. This shows she is already broken beneath the surface again this isn't shown outwardly apart from the scar, she is so traumatised by her past she cannot even think about it hence the reason why she is trying to create a new life by plastering up the new one, this is shown throughout when she is attempting to replace the wallpaper in the new house.

However when her son is secretly replaced by a monster representing her past of false love, a physical metaphor for her only being able to run away from situations which she does throughout the film. Eventually she confronts this problem face on by rescuing her son. She admits she can no longer run away. However she is left more psychologically scarred now fearful of her sons identity, this is the scene most cleverly representative of her now having major issues not only with her son but with the world and the monsters that live upon it. she is left having to check constantly if her son is her son, her second love has betrayed her the same way her husband has he has become a monster. She is terrified of the monster returning. So thank you for looking into my insight and hopefully understanding my definitions of the symbolism.
