I AM BORED
18 November 2020
I was there, whoever wrote this was not, do not recommend. The powerful voice, personality, movement, genre, you name it during this time, had no representation. I had to skip through many portions due to slow lagging dialogue and meaningless conversation. For such a unique topic as a powerful voice of the early 70's, I am miffed at this loss of perception. Keep you day job folks! ugh

Collin Surpasses Alexander Role
16 July 2020
Huge Collin Farrell fan with his range is beyond comprehension. To stay focused with such emotional scene after another non-stop and maintain character is quite impressive. This is a tough film to sort through but the dialog is magnificent. Tortured class struggle with love, lust and escapism. Alot of divisiveness with these reviews but clearly it is not for your average viewer. Very dense script and moves slowly but there is a payoff. If you have ever had one wild ride with your man or woman, this defines how crazy you become when that animal attraction bites you. I have only had one experience like this and that was plenty for a lifetime! Recommend for the subtle undercurrents of BDM, extremely well-portrayed by Mr. Farrell. Longer than required, Liv did some creative shots but otherwise distracted by dialog. Chastain's character was sumptuously dressed, colors vivid and clairvoyant.

Could I do better???
3 November 2019
After laughing so hard it hurt watching some of this footage, I gave this home video a true scrubbing for authenticity. How would I improve my own fake alien abduction story video? Hmmmm, I think I would have that alien blink, wave and stick his tongue out for more realistic effect. What else.... shake the camera more when filming a flying tin can and really obscure the object, keep cutting more to the spouse who believes everything he says but is cool with the child porn charges, act just a titch more surprised when creatures show up in the kitchen and scream louder, I dunno the list is quite long and distinguished. I spent the entire day with Joe Rogan, Bob Lazar and the FA-18 pilot as well as other sources but this one, my last of the evening, put a feather in the cap of Mockumentary Alien Abduction accounts. WoW! I had no idea Netflix would promote this as anything approaching real, but I did watch it waiting to see what other crazy bats*t crap this dude would add. I feel very sorry for Stan if most of this is actually true, he did a great disservice to those who have had horrendous experiences. Myself, my abduction was the best thing that ever happened to me and can't wait to go back. Time to get the camcorder ready for my next visit!!! Recommend for intriguing entertainment.

Judy & Barbra!
19 October 2019
I always thought Judy was a more powerful, engaging, enigmatic vocalist compared to the mega perfect pipes of Ms. Streisand. However, the clip of their duet was most educational. Barbra was clearly more technical with stronger range and clearer vocals than Judy. I was trying to assess why I felt the opposite. Well, when you have such a tragic life it really shines through in your interpretation of any form of words and music. Judy died so very young in obvious trauma seeped life events. Meanwhile her counterpart lives on in infamy with near perfect health. How can that be felt through the air waves? I am unable to conclusively state how but the difference is palpable. Just an observation that surprised me. Judy's final song portrayed such incredible depth and energy despite severe health issues and represents one of the most amazing talents in history. Wait till you hear how long she holds that final note, almost super human. The rest of the film concerns Luft's diary notes and provides some insight to her many career struggles as well as her affable, warm nature. The rumors of his pilfering her bank accounts were white washed and assume we may never know who stole what from whom. She didn't seem to care and guess neither do I. High recommend for her fans but certainly as a unique talent that rarely manages to touch those sentimental heartstrings. What a force!

Great Music
8 October 2019
Have seen all versions but I think I like this one the best. Why? The music is magical, endearing and catchy. I am still singing the Shallow song today and will for awhile. The singers, esp. Gaga, are strong and virile with great performance vibes. I doubt there would be that much canoodling in front of a massive live audience but the camera leads you to believe it's just us. The pacing never drags and it was delightful to see Sam Elliott, Dave Chapelle and others in minor roles. Watching on a small screen, had some issues with the garage scene, but overall good direction and smooth transitions between scenes. Watching a second time enjoyed the music even more but it does lose a bit of luster given the attraction of Lady GaGa dims. Recommend to complete the series.

How to Deal With Your Life Being Over (as you know it)
29 September 2019
I loved the Sunday afternoon Tea Dances at this Hilton back in the day. I was there a few days prior to the shooting, having a wonderful time dancing to Big Bands and then this occurred. I could not fathom yet another President's life in the balance, recalling that fateful day in 1963. I was not familiar with James Brady and his career trajectory. All I knew was immense sympathy for someone called "Bear" who mesmerized the press and was Ronnie's right hand man. What a tragedy and ensuing impact on this lovely family. Beau did a righteous job portraying the enormous challenge faced by victims of gun violence, stroke, heart attack, accidents, etc. He was imprisioned not by the hospital staff but by his brain function. He could still remember his finer hours and then know they were his last. However, the path one selects in this life can be extremely difficult and unpredictable, no matter the dedication and hard work. He and his wife helped pass the bill carrying his name and he should be proud of that legislation. It would never have occurred on his watch without Hinckley. HIgh recommend for those who were there during these events and for all who are affected by gun violence. I am pro self-protection but when you see this type of violence at an unprecedented level now, what options remain? Sad commentary.

Ben Bradlee Pleased
29 September 2019
I wonder what he thought of this documentary. A fair shot at his privileged background, his insatiable desire for crack reporting, and his reign of 29 years at the Post. I read the post and was familiar with both Kate, Sally, Ben and company. They had a stellar reputation unlike the MSM currently and I am blessed to have that experience in memory.

Watching Ben, with his handsome overpowering looks, wide toothy grin, slick tan and uber confidence was of particular interest, attempting to imagine life with his type of upbringing. How easy it was to make instant friends with a future president, taking in all the celebrities, fitting in anywhere, demanding the impossible and getting it with a sweet smile. I appreciate his hard work and dedication that helped propel him to super stardom but he had alot going for him that most of us mere mortal do not. I absolutely live for these more than superficial insights into the movers and shakers of this Universe.

Bradlee's life overshadows most but I give Kate Graham credit for having the guts to hire someone of that caliber. HIgh recommend for demonstrating that you CAN smoke 4 packs a day and live to 93! Amazing profile.

Amazing Film for a 10YO!
14 March 2019
I saw this incredible film in the theatre first run in 1966 and WoW! was it mesmerizing and full of over the top adult themes given my limited background. So when I turned on TMC and I saw the lush scenery and score and in two seconds I shouted: HAWAII!!! I really doubted it could have possibly been a movie I saw 53 years ago and never since. Sure enough it was and I was surprised and shocked. It mush have made a HUGE impression on me and I can understand why. I had a fascination with Island Culture from a very young age and perhaps wanderlust set in prematurely? All I can say is: What else is hiding in that brain of wonderful memories, it must be extensive and how to access? Second viewing shows poor aging in the over dramatic scenes with Max, had no idea who Gene Hackman was but appreciate his versatility moreso now. The Cinematography is outstanding spectacular and have rarely seen such verdant, bucolic, pastoral vistas save for other films featuring this alluring State. What a tragic story that is all too well known world-wide throughout history. You can only imagine what territories remain for future plunging. I believe this topic matter also impacted my deeply held Catholic beliefs as the Bible is shown as an evil instrument when all is said and done. However, Catholics are not particularly invested in Bible verses so I recovered. But the seeds were planted that all is not well and perfect in religious fervor land. High recommend for a grand sweeping epic under the careful direction of Hill who favored us again with the Newman and Redford team. Anyone else remember this in theatres? PDG

PM MAY MIA?
31 January 2019
When I started to pay attention to the wild and crazy Brexit debates in Parliament on BBC News I was mesmerized! PM May appears to be extremely tired, frustrated and angry at the equivocating nature of UK Voters. When is this thing actually going to occur? That question is never even hinted at and viewers are left with the Mercer's responsible for this havoc. There must be something more to establishing motive for each option. However, I failed to uncover much of anything relating to how the Brexit campaign started and it's roots. I could only conjure a simple "Need for Change" based on a whim, most disappointing! This film needs more episodes to assist with comprehending the impact of this grand decision. Will the Old World collide with the New? Will the Pound never recover? Will I still be able to buy my Bubble & Squeak and PG Tips? This is where the bottom line lays.

High recommend to start your journey of Brexit implications and how Obama is responsible. Thought you would find that tidbit of interest, lol.

Slow Start, Hang In, Worth a Watch!
15 May 2018
Started off rather tame but I still decided to watch and glad that I did. Alot of interviews with colleagues, friends, dancers, etc. that had interesting personal stories that explored MJ's private life. I never had much interest in his background but have been listening to one of his greatest hits CD and stopped to appreciate the genius production and magnificent sound he created. So I figured this guy has made so many negative headlines but his music is phenomenal, what's ticking here.

The background music is unrecognizable and most annoying, wish they would cut the unnecessary tracks that only compete with voices. This was made before his passing so they proclaim major optimism for his future career. I admit this was a huge loss to the music industry and wonder what he could have accomplished if continued his pursuit of melody magic. He apparently, according to many interviews, was the most talented musician they ever encountered among hundreds of clients. Mind you he never played an instrument.

I was surprised to hear such magnificent remarks on his abilities thinking the studios were mostly responsible but looks like he really was in charge of the show. Alas these superstars have equally strong penchants for dark interests and we never did get to find out what really happened with his accusations. I suppose given the notorious adventures of so many before him they are most likely true. This greatly saddens me but for now I am enjoying dancing to his tunes and getting a good workout.

No matter how bad I feel, I hit play on just one of his albums and I get transported to my delightful dancing days and am uplifted. Thank you for that Michael. RIP

Show Film in Reverse!
7 April 2018
How delightful to see Goldie again after all these years! However, the look of ashen, expressionless, dull, fearful over botoxed appearance was shocking. When her character has a huge revelation and shows off her tone physique and colorful wardrobe, she is ebullient! I would NEVER leave the first impression of looking well beyond your age associated with my name. She looked gorgeous in the end scenes but the initial scare was overwhelming and rather too late to recover from crypt keeper horror.

Amy is much better suited for the stage and does poorly in ensemble work. Awkward might be part and parcel of the character but feel the brother character was provided limited expectations of a contribution and a parallel was needed to capture Amy's durability.

Recommend "Banger Sisters" for last memories of screen time for Goldie and Amy's standup routines on YouTube, this option will dissappoint!

Supreme Script, Superb Actor
23 March 2018
I cannot recall being more enraptured with such a divine script and an actor, Jose Ferrer. Despite the poor sound quality, dark sets, and overall low budget production, I was overwhelmed with many unexpected emotions. This actor did not miss even half a beat for every line delivered with pitch perfect delivery and countenance. The obvious protuberance withstanding, nothing felt overtly theatrical but appeared so, definitely a mark of genius. Mr. Ferrer developed his character over the span of hundreds of performances but the film version still was fresh and nuanced.

This film is old, B&W with no other well known actors but delivers action, sorrow, joy, laughter and compassion. Perhaps it was just the right moment to explore the depths of unrequited love, impossible to even speak of, yet able to achieve. What a longing this created and expressed through tears unexpected. Where has this all come from? Dumas, Shakespeare, Fitzgerald? Most likely strong influences and a grand tally that redefined cinema.

If you have ever felt that depth of feeling for another who has absolutely no clue, or appreciate the power of the word over the sword, this film is definitely for you. Supreme recommend for lovers, dreamers and actors wanting to aspire to stardom. WOW!.

Gwen is a Genius Brainiac Beauty!
20 January 2018
Big day for race fans kids! Gwenneth has to figure out how to act like a genius that is humble, absolutely gorgeous but not worthy of any praise, kinda like downplaying how stunning beautiful you are on screen and be coquetish, clueless and alarmingly charming. Do you need an advanced degree in Physics or Chemistry to appreciate the spectacular fireworks that unfold in the genius that is Anthony Hopkins? No sirree, all you have to do is suspend your belief that true brilliance is an aberration fraught with instability, self adulation and insanity and you're halfway home. Hard to keep count of all the hotties in the Math department, well maybe the Computer Science geeks could eek out a dashing formidable run for the money?

Those of us who crave real conversation and a spark of life among the shadows will once again fall into despair believing no one in Hollywood will ever serve to educate, inspire, let alone entertain those whoe have a titch more than a room temp IQ. But for those of us who comprehend that Math is theee language of love will continue to foray for those minute details, subtle hints and secret code words to elucidate a modicum of spark, ignition and fire! I look forward to the stage play that hones it all in for our conspicous consumption and well deserved applause. I could barely finish this film it was too cooked, brittle, albeit more of a showcase for known talent. And who deals with Differential Equation concepts in Grad School, sheesh that's thrid grade material!

Warning: Spoilers
Rachel sure looks great for 60! Ronnie, not so much, a shave might have been a good move but we have to make our men feel better by looking most disheveled when they hang with young chippies, eh? The premise makes you think this will be full of twists, turns and great surprises. Well, they do have a surprise party for Rachel and that about sums up the excitement here.

I saw way too many typical American influences in the directors tool box and was very very disappointed to see no stamp of country of origin. I watch many foreign films just for this purpose to get away from the expected slow dialogue, non-value added story arcs, and mumbling actors.

Let's get with the program here folks and shine your country's ability to inspire, educate and entertain!

NB: Very Depressing Expose!
2 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
When I first heard about GE crops I was super excited. The scientific breakthroughs required to modify genes was immeasurably futuristic and full of promise. I had no concept of glyphosphate and it's toxic impact on human health. Now the Great State of California has declared it a known carcinogen. How do we fight this corporate giant when this substance is clearly ubiquitous?

Be prepared for some shocking revelations about the tactics used to intimidate farmers to either sign up with the Monsanto program or perish. It is revolting what our Government allows to occur to our food supply. I was planning on living a long healthy disease free life but that is in substantial doubt given these greedy players.

My deepest sympathies goes to the poor hard working smaller family farmers. Their numbers are being decimated due to this influence of quick profits. I pray to God that this evil is obliterated and soon!

Good Listening Skills Demo
21 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
How many people in your entire life would have any interest in such a long winded story that includes intimate details? Perhaps a few. But then include complete strangers and Mary seems like a doddering self absorbed egotistical nutcase! The camera work was dizzying like a ping pong tournament flipping from angle to angle of just two people's facial expressions.

The young man whose listening skills are beyond human as well as his patience and seemingly sincere appreciation of story telling seemed like a proper ghost. No real being has that much tolerance for boring old women with absolutely nothing to say. I was hoping for some fantastic plot twist with a paranormal aspect but nope. Unless....

I recall "The Prime of Miss Jean Brody" so many decades ago which introduced this lovely versatile actress. After viewing this dire droll drama I was shocked she dared to endanger her reputation with such drivel.

High recommend for 50's fashionistas, that yellow chartreuse (?) dress was spectacular and have never seen such a palette for that era. Even for Smith fans this is a huge disappointment...sigh.

WOW DARBY Borough Film Location!
16 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Was so surprised this was filmed in Darby, PA. I know you are thinking why would they do that, not exactly Beverly Hills let alone Compton. I think it is theee only time I have even heard a reference to this town and have not been there in decades. Well so much for all the excitement in this production.

Have known addicts most of my life and it appears the reviews praise such an accurate portrayal. I found the dialogue plodding and too many gratuitous scenes of Keaton being a jerk, we get it, he's an ahole. And then he spends 30days in rehab and is completely ready for a LIVE-IN relationship, yeah right. He shows no improvement in his dealings with anyone else, hence huge plot hole here.

Suggest you watch Ray Milland in "Lost Weekend", now that's an addict my friends and what a wild ride he took us on! "Clean and Sober" is just window dressing compared to Milland's portrayal. I was extremely bored with the incessant panning to dumbstruck facial expressions and lack of realistic conversations. This is a difficult topic to address, I appreciate that, but to downplay the process, even despite two deaths, was an insult to all struggling addicts in recovery.

I have enjoyed many Keaton projects and this is definitely a departure from Batman or BeetleJuice, so be prepared for a letdown. I cannot recommend this film for any purpose other than a shallow introspection of an addict in denial. Oh, and EVERYBODY smokes non- stop, extremely annoying, cough!

The Sully: Grey Goose in Water
7 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Having experience with complex simulations, I find it so difficult to believe they would not share any parameters used with the actual defendants due to media leaks! Not believable but would have an attorney present if true.

The sequencing of this film was disjointed and was in need of just a couple of sub-titles to let us know the time frame, location, and relative significance. I was never confused but those that did not consume main stream media during this event may need some help with connecting the dots.

I would highly recommend that the flight attendants come up with something more instructional and less elusive than the term Brace! What the hell does that mean, who even uses that terminology, and other than feel scared as F it does not help at all to assist frantic scared passengers. I live very close to LAX and sometimes late at night they change the flight path directly over my head and is so loud my windows vibrate. Seeing this film makes me even more worried that something like this could happen right in my neighborhood. Good Grief!

I have adored Tom Hanks since "Big" and imho he can do no wrong. Seeing interviews with the real Sully makes me think he did a perfect capture of his calm, cool, and collected nature. Bravo my friend! I felt most proud of this accomplishment by a seasoned pilot, who else could have pulled this off, Gordon Cooper?

High recommend for Clint's attempt to recreate the entire rescue scene, amazing! And the lovely sense that GOD exists and whatever force that is, protected 155 lives on the Hudson. AMEN

Great PR for Altoona, PA!
6 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
How many sexy socialites with mink wraps, up-dos, and designer luggage have you ever seen in Altoona? WOW! Angela Lansbury who I first saw in "Gaslight" was stunning. But not believable visiting from a hick town in the middle of nowhere. Geraldine Page on the other hand was the most annoying woman on the planet imho. I get the lonely hearts single spinster deal, depressing and desperate. However, everyone really seemed to like her and found her most kind. Perhaps Avalon, Ohio is even worse than Altoona? A dashing Glenn Ford would most likely pass on this lady for a serious adventure but there we see him pining away for this screecher from his hotel room with his fiancé.

I always try to appreciate the time, tone and morale of a films date and handicap the script to reflect code restrictions, current affairs, etc. There was no way to explain away the droll attempts at humor and elevated relationship themes.

One kick was to see the two Gladys's from "Bewitched" together with the ever reliable Mary Wickes to complete the lonely hearts club.

One way to sum up this film: you want to sit outside in winter vs a cozy warm restaurant and then choose the coldest seat in the house - cement! Avoid.

1973 Part II
25 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Anyone who was there will notice that this film captures almost perfectly what it was like when the music appeared. I was on stage with Led Zeppelin, Johnny Winter, etc. I could never convey the excitement and love of this era's music but this film absolutely did. Thank you Cameron for taking the time and effort to portray this PERFECT time of life. We were special, gifted, enlightened to be able to experience these events.

The music clips were absolutely capturing the element of life as a teen in 1973. God Bless everyone who was involved with this film, I have never seen anything like this that took me back to when I was this young. I feel so forlorn that life is so different now given the musical options we have and rarely listen to anything now. Sigh.

High recommend for those who were there, for those who wanted to be there, and for those who have no clue what it was like then. I feel so sorry for anyone who missed this era. Thank GOD I was!

Great Introspective of the Man's Man.
12 April 2017
I had an annual subscription to Playboy while I was in Grad School. That is saying something as I could barely afford food but loved this publication as a sweet indulgence. This series was intriguing, beguiling and fascinating.

Hef experienced extreme heart break when he found out his first love was cheating on him and then proceeded to insure his future relationships would never encounter such betrayal, what a supreme hypocrite!!

The history of the magazine and subsequent enterprises were detailed with interest and the many challenges and frustrations with first amendment rights are commendable.

The women were stunning, kind, and most of all very supportive of the Playboy brand. So even if Gloria Steinem revealed the seedy side of being a Bunny it was parlayed as an exploitation journalist which I feel was extremely unfair.

No doubt this is a controversial subject to both men and women but I found when I accepted this foray into pornography it actually helped my marriage, so I cannot complain.

High recommend for fans of First Amendment rights, gorgeous naked women, and of course those in-depth interviews. No comparison to what is available online these dayz!

Hemingway Anyone?
10 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I made the mistake of respecting online reviews for this film and delayed watching for some time. However, I liked the idea of time travel in Paris and thought perhaps the reviews were misleading and over critical. Wow, was I right in that assessment!!

If you have any notion of the music, art and literary genius of the '20s, Paris intrigue, and fantasy, this film is definitely for you. I was swept up in the concept and did not digress into the explicit formalities of complicated technical issues clearly ignored in this film.

I enjoyed the excitement of anticipation of interaction with so many illustrious artists and philosophers and invited discourse of who, when and where I would prefer to explore. This era probably fits the bill for most and addresses mostly romantic gestures of vague recall to move the plot along.

I am a futurist and spend little time thinking about what period I would like to visit in the past. Perhaps hanging out with Amelia Earhart on her last voyage, or Patton on his quest to quell Hitler's war machine? I am reminded of the remark by Owens that the past is not quite as romantic with the concept of lack of antibiotics. Only ONE effective reminder that is most sobering about a yearning for simpler times.

The ubiquitous guitar riff used incessantly throughout the film was extremely annoying but not more so than McAdam's portrayal of a high maintenance bride. Hard to ignore but when midnight strikes all is forgiven when the true adventure ensues.

The arbitrary voyage to "La Belle Epoque" was unexpected and further complicated the plot to appreciate a bygone era but did serve to exploit the imagination on why so many view the past with such reverence.

Many of my friends claim that the 50's were the Golden Era. Bolderdash I proclaim! Did they forget about how smoking was encouraged as seXy? And so many women just wanting to get married and never contribute to society or the family income? Or, well you get the idea, rainbows and lollipop thinking.

I am so pleased that this type of intellectual (well vs current offerings) script is mainstream and available to us who crave mental stimulation. I highly recommend this film for the many fantasy elements, Francophiles, and sumptuous scenes that excite beyond convention.

Bravo Mr. Allen for bringing such joy to the silver screen!!!

Dominique Strauss Kahn Was Here?????
21 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was unfamiliar with the type of prison demographics associated with Rikers and was compelled to watch this documentary. My only reference of late was that the IMF Chief, DSK was imprisoned briefly for a rape accusation. Given the potential President of France play, perhaps the US intervened in their election and forced him out of the running? Nah, we would never do something like that, eh?

The primary reason for incarceration at Rikers according to this film, is inability to pay Bail. Now how could an IMF Chief be unable to perform this basic fiduciary duty? Also, 97% of the population is either Black or Hispanic. Rather a racy crowd given a high profile elected international position. But I digress.

I saw more camaraderie and caring for others in this film than I expected. There was compassion exhibited for other inmates, especially the HIV+ born in jail gentleman as well as other positive emotions portrayed. I have great compassion for those unjustly imprisoned and for those who require mental health care.

High recommend for some insight into prison life at a very unique institution. But whatever happened to DSK?????

Gorgeous Leah and Horrors of Scientology
12 January 2017
Ms. Remini is absolutely stunning woman and sometimes I found myself distracted by her gorgeous hair and makeup, but sometimes a needed respite from the horrific stories relayed in this series. Having been shamed for still remaining in the Catholic Church despite all the cancer uncovered from lay priests all the way to the top, I had some, albeit less traumatic, experience that I was familiar. I have great respect for anyone who whistle blows on a powerful, corrupt, deep pockets organization.

It is such a disappointment to see the potential for immense achievement in personal growth outweighed by the negative gestapo tactics to maintain members. I was curious why the interview leaks were occurring despite the strict security during filming. Who could be responsible? Hmmmmm...

High recommend for anyone going through the loss of dear friends and family members as a result of cults, organized groups, etc., and the pain and frustration of feeling hopeless to reconnect. This is a tough series to get through and feel great sympathy for each profile shared in every episode. I do have a hard time still trying to comprehend that folks get hoodwinked into attaining high level positions in the organization. Totally appreciate the indoctrination as young adults but shocked that they put up with so much abuse voluntarily.

I attended a series of EST seminars 30+ years ago and was very surprised how easily attendees were so pliable and willing to cough up so much more cash to be exposed to even more abuse. Hence, my empathy is somewhat limited given many weaknesses illuminated. I pray that this so called Church is properly investigated and dealt with legally. Thanks A&E for taking on this sensitive topic!!

Truly Horrific
14 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Big fan of Sex, Lies and Videotape and was hoping to see James Spader in a juicy role with Maggie G. Complete molasses bore fest. I could not get past 30 minutes and even that required a pandemic of patience.

I was not anticipating grand action scenes, witty acerbic dialog, or inspiration. How about a working script or was this an exercise to see how slow one can answer a ringing phone or slice your thigh. I guess I'm with the Paralegal... annoyed with the whole scene. Wedding party, laundromat, office space, you have some potential with these as backdrop.

However I was impressed with the donuts dunk in the round file!!!

Good luck with this one, do not recommend whatsoever!
