Ozark (2017)
Absolutely No Redeeming Value
I tried oh so mightily to like this show, or at the very least a couple of its characters.and in so doing watched every episode. Alas, in finality it has no redeeming social or moral value. Despite the acting being top-notch, it sickens on so many other levels. Not a single character in this series is redeemable, not a one, And instead of growing in character, each character sinks lower and lower into a bottomless abyss of behavioral amorality and depravity. Each one of them each episode becomes more and more despicable. Adding to such utter worthlessness of character, the writers and actors seem laser-focused on getting this series entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for most F-words spoken. That in itself is a tip off as to how relentlessly mean, vicious, violent and totally self-absorbed the characters become, some of whom devolve into a life of crime they otherwise would not have but for the awful selfishness with resultant wickedness of others in the drama. And so unlike the sometimes twisted or dark or playful comedy relief bits that very good dramas like Breaking Bad blend in seamlessly Please have at it if you want endless profanity and viciousness for purely selfish reasons on the parts of the characters, who never show signs of longing for an honest life or truly caring about anyone other than themselves.
Nomadland (2020)
Worthless
This may be the most worthless movie ever nominated, lest awarded an oscar. It may also be the worst movie of McDormand's career. It goes here: ABSOLITELY NOWHERE. It's characters growth/positive change/learning ability is: NOTHING WHATS0EVER! Have traveled in an rv trailer and been to places, met people like these. Th movie is absolutely worthless - you need read no further pseudo-intellectual or ridiculously pretentious reviews.
Creed II (2018)
Good acting performances, yet predictable outcome and poor pacing.
Give it to Stallone - as aged and wrinkled as he has become, he has also become a better actor. And even Dolph is better with age. In fact, the acting by all in this movie is very good, which renders such performances unworthy of the achingly slow pacing - it drags on in far too many places to create any interest in what's to come, and speaking of which we can all see what's ahead for the fights in this movie. The last fight is especially predictable and cliche in how it was constructed. Happy ending for all characters. We really don't need another Rocky or Rocky spinoff flick.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Snoozer
Keeping a review simple is best: Nothing original in this movie, so nothing worthwhile here except to waste time.
Remember My Name (1978)
Decent Yet Defective
You need not have to wade through any over-intellectualized reviews of this film! Breaking it down into basics: (1) it is a low-budget indie; (2)you can figure it out by at least midway through for those with above a lukewarm IQ; (3) some very wasted time; (4) not quite as satisfying as it could have/should have been, since the predator who is really a victim is completely unsympathetic Skip it unless you really enjoy slogging through old B&W B-movies which offer
little more than simple revenge as character motivation.
Without Remorse (2021)
Terrible waste of time
Readers looking for reviews need not need to read through the lengthy ones - this simple one should suffice: this film is dumb in concept and execution, stupid in all regards and needlessly convoluted - worst in recent filmdom. Please honor the time of your own self worth on this earth and so not waste it on this film!
