Bonanza: Maestro Hoss (1967)
Hilarious episode!
A comic episode on a par with "Ponderosa Matador" as the funniest one they made.
Zsa Zsa Gabor excels in the role of a fortune teller and the regulars are clearly enjoying themselves under the experienced directing of William Claxton making it an episode well worth seeing.
Lost: Solitary (2004)
Poignant
Watching this episode in May 2021 with a huge degree of sadness knowing that Mira Furlan (Danielle Rousseau) passed away at the age of just 65 in January 2021.
She appeared in 20 episodes of 'Lost' from 2004-2010 and is excellent in this as the character who left the radio distress message for the other characters to hear fifteen years later.
Damon Lindelof, executive producer, on hearing of her passing said "Thank you for helping us find the island. RIP Mira"
An actress that will be much missed.
Combat!: Cry in the Ruins (1965)
Superb directing by Vic Morrow
With this magnificent episode of a superb series,Vic Morrow showed that given more opportunities to direct before his tragic early death in 'Twilight Zone: The Movie' he could have been one of the directing greats. All of the Combat episodes he made ( except perhaps the season 5 episode Gulliver when one of the cast was injured in a fall requiring changes to the shooting schedule) were well worth watching.
This episode features Lisa Pera as Madame DuBois in
her acting debut acting her socks off as a mother looking for her baby lost in the ruins of a bombed building. The ending is both surprising and heartbreaking at the same time.
Kudos to both Pera and Morrow for this gem.
The Fugitive: The Judgment: Part I (1967)
Good episode but overrated.
This final episode of 'The Fugitive' is a very good one but I don't think it deserves the rating of 9.0 on this site.
Yes it provides the conclusion to one of the best and most popular series of the sixties but check out the episodes 'Wife Killer' with Janice Rule,'Echo of a Nightmare' with Shirley Knight and 'In a Plain Paper Wrapper' with Lois Nettleton all from the Emmy winning 3rd series and hopefully you'll agree.
