How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014)

One of the best comedy shows out there

Definitely for me the best comedy show in my opinion, even better than Friends if you ask me, don't get me wrong Friends is awesome but How I met your mother is just somehow funnier.

The series is basically about a guy who is telling stories to his children about his friends and how he finally met their mother :)

My favorite character in the series is Marshall Eriksen the best friend of the storyteller. Just a funny cool chill guy to whom quite often funny things happen.

The show has one downside though, I am not going to spoil anything just saying that the end is a big "what an earth did the producers do there" moment, why just why this weird ending, who had this strange idea lol.

Lost (2004–2010)

A decent TV show

When I was younger I remember reading things like how good this series was, but I never watched it cause I felt like people in an airplane crashing on an island just sounded somehow boring to me. Then almost 20 years later I was looking for some series on Amazon and then Lost popped up for a few bucks, I thought why not giving it a try for that price and see for myself why people said it was so good. What can I see I was not disappointed at all, this series is really great and it's much more than just some people stranding on a lonely island. Lost is full of mysteries, emotions, stories and has a great character development. It sometimes can get a bit confusing though so be aware of that :)

My favorite character in the series was Hugo which was played by Jorge Garcia.

The only negative thing I can say about Lost are the cgi effects, they are really cheap and bad, terrible bad for such a famous successful series, not sure why they saved so much money on that.

However it's one of these must watch series in my opinion. I don't regret my buy for sure.

October Faction (2020)

So so

October Faction is a so so tv show it is like a mixture between Twillight, Baffy and Men in Black. The series is not bad but also super awesome, however I think it is worth watching though if you like vampire/werewolf stuff. Unfortunately it just has 1 season since Netflix doesn't care much about finishing their TV shows and loves to cancel things right in the middle of a story which gets more and more on my nerves. October Faction has some potential, its strong point is the story which isn't too shabby and kinda interesting in my opinion even if it looks sometimes a bit like a B-movie.

One thing that annoys me a bit in the series is this political agenda pushing which they try to shove down our throats again. I am fine with seeing it here and there, but man in every series that comes out these days? Get's kinda annoying after a while, I think we got the message.

Banshee (2013–2016)

Incredible good show

A solid 10 stars, I would even give it 11 stars if I could. Finally a series again where every single episode was thrilling, interesting and entertaining. And finally a show again that doesn't have an open end, I was so done with all these netflix series getting cancled in middle of the production just because they didn't want to spend anymore money on it, nothing worse than an open ending in a good tv show.

This series definitely comes in my TOP 10 favorite tv shows, it's so good, crazy that I never heard of it before. One strenght of this series is the development of the characters, whoever was responsible for this has done a really good job. Each character in this series felt special with a very unique personality and unique traits. Even the villains felt awesome, they felt like an endboss in a video game with a good story behind.

My favorite characters were Job and Kurt Bunker, Job was giving this series some good humor :) , he was a really cool character. And Tom Pelphrey who played Kurt Bunker is such an underrated actor, I wish we would see him in more tv shows and blockbuster movies.

The fighting scenes and the story weren't always realistic, but jesus christ the fightning were really well done, kudos to the choreographer, stuntmen and special effects here.

If you like revenge series or movies like The Punisher, John Wick, Taken and so on then Banshee is the right series for you. Be aware that the series is very brutal and there are a lot of erotic scenes. One of the best series out there.

Rome (2005–2007)

Pretty interesting historical show

I like the show a lot, the series is historically pretty accurate, some of the characters are maybe fictional but overall I have to say that it is very accurate. It gives you an idea of how the Romans may have lived and what was going on on the political scene and behind it and all the intrigues involved to get more power.

Ciarán Hinds who plays Julius Ceasar in the series did an outstanding job, this is exactly how I would imagine Ceasar to be.

The reason why I give a 8 and not a 10 is that there a loooot of talking in this series, a bit too much in my opinion and I would have loved to see more fights on the battlefield, most of the time the battles were just blended out.

I recommend watching the show, but be aware it is brutal sometimes and very bloody.

Limitless (2015– )

Unfortunately not like the movie

I am a bit disappointed that this series has not much to do with the movie besides for the pills. Something I didn't like so much either is that they turned this series into a csi fbi police tv show, we already have so many of these why turning this too into a detective show.

I found the beginning was not so interesting, but the show kept getting better with every episode, but to be honest most interesting for me was the end of the series which was the most thrilling for me of this show.

I am not sure if I would recommend the series unless you are one of these people that like fbi detective series.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008–2009)

A hidden gem

I had this series on my shelf for a couple of years now, despite being a Terminator fan I never watched it until recently, because I thought it wouldn't be so great since I had never heard anything about it, I was thinking it was probably a b-movie series, but oh boy was I wrong I and regret that I didn't watch ther series much earlier. The show is really really good and very underrated, it reminds me a lot of Terminator 2 which is my favorite of all the Terminator movies. Finally a series that really took me and made me glue to the TV screen :) . It is a must watch for every terminator fan.

However I had to remove 1 star, even though the series is awesome only the first season and the first half of season 2 was good, somehow the second half of the second season was kinda boring and dropping in quality :(

One more thing: Summer Glau is such an incredible pretty woman, just wow.

Agent Carter (2015–2016)

It was ok

I am a big marvel fan, but I have to say that I feel a bit disappointed about the tv show. I don't like it when the heroes don't have any super powers, I mean this could also have been a normal series just with a marvel logo to it. I only liked the second season which was pretty fun and had a cool interesting story. Whereas the first season was a bit boring and it was full with clichés like all men are women haters, machos who think that all women are stupid. If you like detective series you are right here, but if you are expecting any marvel feelings coming up while watching it then you are wrong here.

Money Heist (2017–2021)

This series is just brilliant, who ever made this is a man of a genius. Normally this kind of series are not so much my thing, but I got recommended money heist by a family member who didn't stop telling me to watch it, I finally gave in and thought that I should give it a try and thanks god that I did it. I have to admit that it took me a few episodes to really get into this series, but once you are into it you can't stop watching it, it is really thrilling, like a cat and mouse game between the police and the bank robbers of fighting over who has the better plan.

If you are fed up with all these american series I recommend giving this spanish series a try you won't regret it I promise.

Elvis (2022)

Good Elvis adaptation

The movie started really good I enjoyed it quite a lot, but after 1 hour and 30 minutes the movie started to get a bit boring :( too bad since it started so well. However this doesn't mean it is a bad movie it's just that after 90 minutes things started to get a bit boring. The movie was also a bit long, wish I would have been a bit shorter, 152 minutes is kinda lengthy.

The perfemonace of Tom Hanks was pretty good, I never watched him playing a bad guy in a movie, he did this really well. And Austin Butler was just wow, really outstanding perfromance here. Kudos to both.

I watched the movie cause I wanted to learn a bit about Elvis Presley's life, how he grow up, what his personality was and how he became a star which I think they portrayed pretty well in this movie (I know movies are not always 100% accurate).

It is sad to see how many of these music legends had such a sad life, maybe that's what motivated them to become such stars.

The Gentlemen (2019)

Some funny gangster movie

I have never heard about the movie before and found it by accident in a video store. This is some really good funny gangster movie, I recommend this movie. I almost switched the movie off, cause the first 20 minutes it was boring and I wasn't sure if I should continue watching it or not, but god thanks I didn't and kept watching it :) . The movie is about a drug seller who gets in a messed up situation that is getting worse and worse.

Colin Farrel in his role as a mma coach for troubled teenagers was just awesome, he played his role so well, kudos to him for his performance he just made the movie so good.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

Very funny and entertaining movie

I can not understand all these bad reviews, the movie was great and funny. I love the Venom franchise with Tom Hardy, the movies are awesome and Venom 2 was a very good movie.

I know I am probably alone with this but find the venom movies funnier than the deadpool movies. Venom 2 was super funny and I recommend the movie to every marvel fan (well at least to these that do also read the comics). I agree it was not the most elaborated story for sure, but it was fine and finally a movie again that didn't last 3 hours, this one here was even a bit shorter than a usual movie (about 93 minutes). Can't wait to see Venom meeting other marvel characters :)

Monster Hunter (2020)

It's ok, entertaining and fun to watch

The movie is an adaptation of the video game monster hunter. I have played the game some years ago, it's not a bad video game but it is pretty grindy and has a huge fan base. The movie is so so though, it's not bad but also not good, I put it somehwere in the middle. I didn't even know they made a movie of it, just found it by accident in a video rental store.

The special effects are good, I mean they do not look cheap or bad they are pretty fine actually. The fighting scenes are very good, but what else to expect from a fight choreography master like Tony Jaa :) , the master himself . The acting is also fine and good, nothing to complain about, the only issue in my opinion is the story. The story is a bit flat and could have been made a bit more interesting for my taste.

One more thing I have to say is that Milla Jovovich is still looking good for her age :)

Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)

Started good but then it went downhill

The movie started so good the first 40 minutes and then after it the more the movie advanced the worst it got and the more it went downhill. The movie was totaly predictable, there were zero surprise efects or interesting twists or turns, you always knew what was going to happen next and it happened in a boring way. And then all this took 2 hours and 24 minutes, way way to long for this movie where not so many interesting things happens. It has plot holes and the story and decisions are not always logical.

I can't say anything bad about the acting, as always and I repeat myself a million times :) Christian Bale was just outstanding, however the movie itself is boring. I am not sure if I can recommend this movie or not, in case you watch it you watch it at your own risk :D.

Cloud Atlas (2012)

Boring, confusing and too long

What was this? The movie has a lot of different characters that are playing in different time lines where you have no clue what on earth is actually going on. The scenes are constantly changing between the different characters and at the end you don't know anymore who was who and who did what again. The length of the movie is 2 hours and 45 minutes which is way way too long, especially for such a movie with such a weird story. Not even a Tom Hanks or a Halle Berry can save this movie. I did already hear that the movie wasn't good when it came out 11 years ago, I should haven't listened.

I can't recommend the movie.

Red Sparrow (2018)

Kinda boring and overrated

I watched this movie after hearing so many good things about it in the media, but man was this movie boring. Some movies get sometimes so overrated I can not understand it, the same thing happened with American Hustle a winning oscar movie and bla bla you have to watch it and so on and when I watched it I just wanted to fall asleep during the movie. And then this agenda they are pushing since decades, we americans are all good and the russians are all bad, for how long they still wanna shove this nonsense down our throat? I was glad when the movie was over, I do not recommend watching the movie.

American Hustle (2013)

Was ok but nothing more

The movie was ok, it was not a bad movie but also not an extraordinary movie. I am probably the only here who didn't like the movie that much. There is not much happening in the movie and it is a lot of talking.

The story is about a FBI agent who is a little bit crazy and who forces two small hustlers (hence the title) to work with him together to arrest some big fishes. The movie is - if I got this right - basing partly on a true story.

I can't say anything bad about the performance of the actors, as always Christian Bale was excellent in the movie. However American Hustler is not a movie I would watch a second time, but I can still recommend the movie though, I am sure other people will like it, I guess it was just nothing for me.

The Social Network (2010)

Interesting story

The social network movie was definitely much better than the Steve Jobs movie which bored me pretty much. I did watch the movie cause I wanted to know a bit about how facebook was created and how everything started. I liked the movie even if I am not a big Jesse Eisenberg fan. The story was told in a very interesting way and I liked how it showed the interactions between the different characters. Kudos to Andrew Garfield, this was some incredible performance.

I know that the movie is probably not 100% accurate, cause it is a movie, but if Mark Zuckerbergs personality is really like they represented in the movie then his is not a nice person you want to hang or be around with, he comes off as very arrogant, a know-it-all who doesn't care about what happens to other people around him.

The Matrix Resurrections (I) (2021)

Was this really a Matrix movie??

What on earth was this? What did I just watch? I can not believe that this was a Matrix movie, this has nothing to do anymore with the matrix movies and is an insult to the trilogy. I am pretty mad at the scriptwriter, I just can not beleive that actors and other people were fine withit when they did read the script, you can not tell me that they said or thought "oh wow that's a nice story let's do it" lol, come on. This is more like a parody like scary movie did with the scream movies and other movies, this is very close to be a b-movie and 5 stars is even very generous of me. I feel sorry for Keanu Reeves he is such a good soul and a down to earth person he deserves better movies and roles than this. They totaly ruined the matrix lore with this, there is no way you can make a matrix 5 now with the mess they did with matrix 4. The matrix trilogy was my favorite movie lore of all time and you totaly ridiculed it and made a laughing stoke out of it with this movie. You just threw it into the trash can, shame on you, where is the respect for the matrix lore :(

Dune (2021)

Very good science fiction movie

This is a very good science fiction movie and a must watch for every sci-fi fan out there. I am honest I have never watched any Dune movie and don't know anything about it except for the famous name :)

The landscape, the visuals and the cgi are just awesome, it reminded me a lot of Bladerunner with its awesome beautiful breathtaking futuristic looks of the landscape and cities, just incredible. It is a feast for the eyes.

Despite the movie being very good I was a bit lost in the movie, I didn't know who was who and who did what and who were all these different nation and folks. I guess you have to know a bit about the lore of Dune to understand what is going on. This is the only negative thing I have to say about the movie, I wish they would have made a bit more of narratives of the characters and the folks, I am still lost now lol.

Ready Player One (2018)

For all the 80s and 90s fans :)

The movie is about a world where more or less everyobody lives in a virtual reality that they access with one of these virtual reality glasses, a bit like the facebook metaverse if you want. This is a movie for all gaming and movie fans, there are so many references in this movie to old and new video games and old movies from 90s, this was just awesome to see old cool video game characters and some of them that I almost totaly forgot.

I like the story, the acting, cgi, just everything, the only negative point I have to say about it is that the movie has some clichés. Anyway I recommend watching this movie, especially if you are a gamer or a Steven Spielberg fan.

Gemini Man (2019)

Not bad but also not extraordinary

I am a bit suprised about all the 1 or 2 stars reviews, I admit this is not a super good movie, but it is also not a terrible movie, for a simple action movie to entertain you for an evening it is quite ok.

I like the concept and the idea of the movie, it has a cool story. It was wondering a lot where the Doppelgänger came from, he actually had an other origin as I originally thought which surprised me, cause I thought it was more of an science-fiction origin he had, however I like surpise effects in movies :) . The stunts and the action is great, it has a lot of both in it. The dialogues were ok.

My main issue I do have is Will Smith, since he slapped Chris Rock in the face on live television in front of millions of people I always have to think about it when I see his face now, what have you done there Will :/

Wonder (I) (2017)

Good drama movie

I very rarely watch drama movies but this one was a pretty good one. Wonder is about a little boy that has a disfigured face because of a genetic disease, he goes for the first time in his life to school where he has to face the looks of the other schoolkids.

Owen Wilson as father and Julia Roberts as mother were the perfect fit for the role as parents. His sister also played her role amazingly well, congratulations to the actors performance.

The movie starts really good, but it gets a little bit boring though at the end, this and that the movie has a lot of clichés are the only two negative things I have to say about the movie, otherwise it is a beautiful story and this comes from someome who normaly doesn't watch drama movies.

Jobs (2013)

Steve Jobs a not so nice person in reality

The movie is about Steve Jobs and how he build the famous brand that we know these days under the name of Apple. I already knew a bit about Steve Jobs from books and from interviews that I watched on youtube, I haven't met him personally of course :) but from what people said about him he was someone who was a not so nice boss and a person who was very mean and disrespectful to other people. I think they showed this character trait pretty well in the movie, I was actually expecting that they would only show him from his nice side and kinda glorifying him which they actually didn't and surprised me in a positive way. Even if he was a visionary we shouldn't forget how he treated his fellow human beings.

I was always wondering how Steve Jobs became so famous, yes he had some great ideas, but let's be honest he didn't write any single program himself, he didn't build anything himself, he actually didn't do anything at all himself, the only thing he was good at was being a businessman that knew how to sell things and even for this he needed a professional sales manager. Even the idea and the first apple was built and invented all alone by Steve Wozniak, Jobs didn't do anything besides putting it on the market. The real credits for me get all these people behind Jobs that made these things actually happening and not him.

The movie itself was yea kinda ok, I wouldn't watch it a second time for sure. I wish they would have showed more of his personal life, how he grew up, his family, his friends and so on, who he was as a person. The movie is actually only about how he built his company and that's it which I already knew from books.

Tomb Raider (2018)

First half a bit boring, second half much better

Compared to the old Tomb Raider movies with Angelina Jolie this is definitely an upgrade, the old movies with Angelina Jolie were just terrible bad.

I have not played the recent Tomb Raider games, I have only played the old games of it so I can not say if this was a good video game adaptation or not.

I think I do not need to mention that Alicia Vikander is very pretty woman and suits pretty well in the role of Lara Croft (the new one). The special effects are good in the movie, but the acting was so so. The first half of the movie was a bit boring, only at the second half it started getting interesting.
