Chernobyl: 1:23:45 (2019)
Captivating
This is an amazing start to an amazing show. One of my favorite things about it is the way meanings are conveyed without dialogue. It is beautifully done, especially in the scene where Sitnikov is sent to the roof to look down into the core. The foreboding music, the crackling of radiation, the look on his already burnt face as he turns around, knowing his fate is sealed and he is doomed to an unimaginably painful death. The atmosphere is heavy and dark and all consuming, leaving you as tense and uncomfortable and terrified as the characters are. Completely captivating from start to finish, 10/10.
Chernobyl: Vichnaya Pamyat (2019)
Spectacular
This show exceeded my expectations so hard. The acting, the suspense, the buildup is all perfection, as well as the callbacks to the first episode. We're shown in great detail how the accident played out, calling back on many of the characters from the first episode. The knowledge of their fates makes each line of dialogue and each miniscule decision even more poignant. My favorite scene in this episode, the conversation on the bench between Valery and Boris, was one of the more mundane ones, yet nonetheless hit harder than a freight train. Both of them, as well as Khomyuk, were absolutely vital in their bravery to stand up against those in higher positions of power. The scene at the end when Valery is driven away whilst the other two watch is indescribable. This show was incredibly moving.
10 MPH (2007)
"I was born here all my life"
This was one masterpiece of a documentary. Very funny, heartwarming, and captures everyone's dream of just dropping everything and going off to do something completely insane like riding a segway across the entirety of america. Loved every second of it.
Legends of Tomorrow: wvrdr_error_100 not found (2021)
Spectacular
It was really awesome to see all (most) of the og legends back together. I would have liked to have seen mick one last time, or maybe charlie or amaya, but I am completely satisfied with what they did. And Gideons character development was phenomenal as well!! Not an action heavy episode but it made up for it in dialogue and emotion. (Rip's and Gideon's interactions. Were. Just. Perfect). (And also Nate and Ray! I love their friendship so much I cant even write enough about it). Not going to lie, I totally shed a few tears at that end scene.
Overall, I'm partial to the idea of Bishop being the main or side villain again in season 7. I liked him last season and I think he'll do well in this one too.
Red Notice (2021)
Not impressed
Not a very good plot. The way dwayne johnson just up and betrayed reynolds for the random love interest was pretty stupid. Over all, it was predictable with disappointing twists, though the ending was ok in my opinion. The best thing about the film was Ryan Reynolds.
The X Files: The Unnatural (1999)
Amazing!
My favorite episode to date. Mulder and Scully's funny interactions mixed with the emotional stories make for a wonderful mix that had me inevitably crying in the end. The music was also a great touch.
World War Z (2013)
Mixed feelings, the book was better
When I first saw it, I thought this film was the epitome of entertainment; with amazing special effects, great jump scares, suspenseful moments that made my heart want to jump right out of my chest, and that "trains in the station" scene, wow! It has a few flaws, like his family being basically invincible, but I loved the plot line and, at the time, the perfect disney ending for Gerry and his family.
Then I read the book.
I was disappointed beyond belief. The movie was called World War Z, but had literally no similarities at all to the written version. They just ran with the title and made their own film. World War Z by Max Brooks has everything one could ever hope for in entertainment, complex characters, real gore, emotional turmoil and psychological horror. It was the perfect set up, and they tore it all down for a more "family friendly" version. Buy the book, you will not be disappointed.
The Dead 2: India (2013)
Pretty good zombie movie
The overall plot was alright In my opinion, and I eally enjoyed how it was executed. Makeup/special effects were as good as they were in the first film. Hated the father, he just "happened" to hear his daughter was pregnant over the phone and then proceeded to destroy their only line of communication. The dreams or premonitions the main protagonist had were cool in my opinion, and the ending was absolutely sublime.
The Dead (2010)
Great movie
I rewatched this again sit and just had to come rate it. It might seem slow, but it's totally worth it to watch it till the end. Makeup is amazing, and slow moving zombies are far more realistic than rotting corpses sprinting at you. I felt more suspense during this film than I did in world war z, which was mostly fast paced action.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
Thanks for the trauma!
I could write a whole damn essay on how horrible this was but I dont want to think about it anymore.
