The cynical premise, questioned by few, is that a digital afterlife is worth paying for. While most of the characters accept this, the show as a whole is constantly poking at the concept and yes, if you pay attention, it still hurts.
Much has been said of the charm and chemistry of the two main characters and it's all true, but there's so much more. Other characters have unexpected complexities, by turns appealing (Nevaen) or pathetic (Ingrid!) or dubious (is anyone really what they seem?), so many minor background throw-away details (corporate mergers that make you go, "What??? Oh, okay, that makes sense!" such as Oscar Meyer Intel for the owners of the Upload process, cosmetic gift bags at a funeral, choose-your-own seasons like a thermostat) - ack, this sentence is achieving a life of its own!
Tl;dr - a charming sitcom for people who hate sitcoms, clever futuristic world-building, a murder mystery in which characters may not be what they seem, and so many details that go by so fast you miss them the first time through, all make this a must-rewatch!
