Quintuplets (2004)
Dear Andy Richter
Dear Andy Richter, What happened? You came out of the side-kick gig swinging, and I thought "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" was damn near a KO. But you gave that up for this?
"Quintuplets" is like a cheap polyester rip-off of Malcolm in the Middle without anything original to redeem it. It's a steaming pile of vomit that belittles the actors in it. None of the people in it are as bad as the whole, and that's the sad thing. I assume the writers are at least semi-human, but they've done this cast a disservice. I hope that all of the people involved get a chance to get out soon and find other work that sustains them.
But Andy, if you need to pay the rent, and that's why you took this, call me, I'll hook you up brother. Otherwise, leave this stinker and wait it out for something worth your talents.
The Musketeer (2001)
An Uneven Movie
The action was great, and truly in the spirit of Hong Kong action movies, but the story itself, and the execution of most of the movie was just ok.
Tim Roth makes a return to creepiness ala 'Rob Roy', and Stephen Rea does an alright job as Richelieu and Justin Chambers is enjoyable as D'Artagnan.
This does not need to be seen in the theatre, this one can wait for rental.
Mallrats (1995)
Wonderful Kevin Smith Movie
While it is more immature than other Kevin Smith works, Mallrats is still filled with the wonderful insights, witty dialogue, and hilarious sight gags.
Maybe I'm just another fan boy, but it doesn't get much better than this for modern comedy.
