A House on the Bayou (2021)
Expected little, received a lot
I can't believe this film is only in the mid "5's" for rating. I'm not saying it should go down in history as a masterpiece, BUT, STILL, It's an extraordinary movie for sure. First off, finally someone made a film and did something different for the right reasons. Too often these days writers/directors make different films for the sake of nothing but just trying too hard to ge different which makes it the same old crap, or completely just makes no sense.
This film has twists and some different surprises and thrills that work very well. The wife was an excellent actor as they all actually did a great job.
Very good film. Good story. Even for thos who dislike horror movies, you can still watch this. And yet there's enough thrill to keep the horror fans entertained as well.
Fight Club (1999)
Trash
Easily in the top 10 overrated ANYTHING of all time. Not just films. I don't get it. Is it just the wannabe machismo in most men? Or is society just this plain dumb? Because this movie is absolutely horrible. The attempt at being counterculture and everything it involves it's just pour. And I'm usually a big fan of Pitt as well as Norton. Like I say often, when things or people have to put effort into being different, then they aren't different at all. And the only thing different about this movie, is how absolutely terrible it is. The only reason I gave it 2 stars with the cast. Otherwise it's a zero.
The Rental (2020)
Ehhhhhh
It was watchable. But I'd never consider it good. We pretty much knew there'd be an affair, and the death. So predictable. Not terrible, but closer to terrible than good.
Bright Hill Road (2020)
Sorta torn.
So it was incredibly refreshing to see a thrilling flick with such a unique storyline. But on the other end, I feel like this is kind of its downside as well because that gave it just so much potential that it didn't deliver on. It was OK overall. My only real gripe is this, I still didn't really understand why in the world she stopped and stayed at this boarding house. Because you know, that's generally what we do in America when we're on a road trip, is stop at a boarding house for some time I guess.
