Unfriended (2014)

A New Spin on Horror w/Skype
17 April 2015
Unfriended can be described as Paranormal Activity/Saw taking place over a Skype session. The pluses and minuses of Unfriended seem to balance out. This movie did well with using current technology trends such as Facebook, Skype, and iChat to bring a sense of reality to it and speaks to this generation about the growing concern of cyberbullying. What I really liked about the film is the role karma plays in the lives of cyberbullies. With technology these kids like to wear two faces. They will be your best friend in real life but in an online society, most of them will like to bring out a deceitful dark side or tough guy mentality. With that being said, Unfriended was a great idea for a horror film, but like most horror films, its script could have used some work, the death scenes were a little cheesy, and there was a lack of common sense. The beginning will be a little boring because it takes time to get use to a whole movie taking place on a computer screen.

Resident Advisors deals out great laughs.
9 April 2015
Resident Advisors is a fun, "Community" and "Animal House" like comedy staring Jamie Chung and Ryan Hansen. The formula is simple yet funny dealing with a bunch of college R.A.s getting into all sorts of hijinks with the students. The beautiful and talented Jamie Chung gets to show off more of her comedy side. Ryan Hansen plays a "Van Wilder" type character with a sharp sense of humor and fun banter which is a nice change from other roles he's previously had, such as Friday the 13th (2009) and Superhero Movie (2008) where he usually only has a few lines of dialog. Other stars which stand out were Alison Rich, with her wacky style of comedy, and Daryl Sabara, of which is all grown up from his Spy Kids days. Enjoy and binge watch like I did.

Cincinatti anyone???

Warning: Spoilers
With having to live up to the fist 80's flashback film, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 did bring the raunchiness and the laughs to the screen once again. Unfortunately there was not any 80's or Cusack, but the addition of Parks and Rec's Adam Scott was a nice touch. I can see why they did not ask Cusack to be in this film because his character wouldn't have been a right fit for this type of comedy. It's a hardcore comedy film without a love story, and that is simply not Cusack's style. The plot is a simple and with time travel, it gets weird, but I honestly went to just watch some dumb fun. The cast works great together and has a excellent chemistry delivering the laughs. I was slightly upset that they did not explain what was in the Cincinnati box. You see it and it looks like whatever is in it has been through some hell. Hopefully the production company will have a Cincinnati special feature on the Blu-ray. Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is a fun film. Go for the laughs, get a little silly, and don't take it too seriously...they didn't.

It Was Amazing !
15 January 2007
This was one of the few movies that I actually felt it was happening in front of my eyes. It felt so real. Maggie Gyllenhaal took this role and made it as real as it could ever get. She acted so well that I could not even sense a hint of Hollywood. I really hope that she is recommended for an Oscar. This young woman has so much talent and promise. One star that really made his mark in this film was Danny Trejo. I have usually only seen him in action, comedy roles; this role really proved his worth as a true actor. Not many movies have made me so emotional, but when the end credits started to role, I almost lost it. Thank you to Dana Fuchs for performing " Some Kind of Heaven ". Her soulful sound ended this film perfectly.
