Kwinmeikeo (2023)
Where Did He Go?!
I thought this series was really good and I loved how the women (and men) took down all the bad guys BUT they left one big one go?! The mean with the blue glasses? His name isn't listed here, in fact it says he was only in one episode, but that's wrong too. I believe his name is Lee Leyoung Young (but don't quote me) so it doesn't show and I'm not sure since this is one of my first English dubbed series. That was one of the bad guys I really wanted the women to get. That really got to me because I kept thinking "You just wait mister!" Haha :)
It was a good show though a bit slow at first. I honestly said out loud that there wasn't any one to like in the beginning but I'm glad I stuck with it. Thank you for the dubbing too because it helps me learn a lot of nice things in other cultures.
The Vast of Night (2019)
Drive In Movie Vibe...
I love the name... 'The Vast Of Night' it's the perfect set up for this amazing movie. I was watching this movie by myself and within minutes I went to grab my husband. The opening of the movie (all of it) in particular had that vibe of being at a drive-in movie on a warm Summer night. My husband grabbed popcorn and I grabbed ice cream and we settled in for this movie, it felt like we were on our first date. We loved every minute of this brilliant movie. I know it doesn't sound possible, when there are some bad reviews, but I honestly think that you have to go along for the ride. You have to "feel" it. It gets everything set up and then it grabs you. It's mysterious and intriguing and it's supposed to be. That gives you the feeling of strolling, walking and then running. It builds and builds in the best possible way. I won't do spoilers even though I really want to do just that. I won't because I don't want to ruin it for all of you. My husband says he doesn't like Sci-Fi or Thrillers, he's more of an Action movie guy. He loves it though and it's the first thing we talked about when we woke up. We then read good reviews on line and we talked about it all morning. This is the first time I believe, that we were both talking a lot about directing in a movie. The actors are perfect for their roles, the story is very, very well written and well done. I love the nod to 'War Of The World's in the naming of the radio station WOTW. I love the feel of the 50's and how everything was so much easier, simpler and safe. Where you know the name of just about everyone in town and how great it would be to change places with them. I know this is a very long review, and I don't do a lot of reviews at all, so thank you for reading all of this and I do apologize. Getting lost in a movie when you are going through a lot and you get to escape for a while is priceless. I do hope that you give it a chance.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
This Should Be Labeled A Horror Movie.
I haven't watched many Japanese series's but I thought this looked really good. I watched the first ep. And I was surprised at the pace. Once I had seen the second and third, I knew I should stop, but I was hooked. It's so interesting and the characters are really well done. I loved it but it's the goriest show I've ever watched. Including the ones when I was a teen. If you like gore and blood it's everywhere. Creepy people, killers, psychopaths, narcissists, deranged people, megalomaniacs and some nice people thrown in then this is for you. Season 2 had far less gore and yet, just as intense. The whole series could have been amazing if it wasn't for all the gore, etc. It is really good I'm skipping season 3 but you guys can watch it.
Expats (2023)
Terrific Interesting Series...
A few bad reviews? People who don't get it, and that's ok. The show is great and it's a bit of a slow burn and worth the wait. If you're lucky, it will get under your skin in the best way. I love the characters and the pace of it. It's hard waiting for the next ep. All week but that's part of the fun. I saw in these reviews, someone named realchillz (I believe) taking Nicole Kidman apart for her looks?! Seriously that doesn't help anyone. It doesn't matter that she is a bit older now, or her bone structure for God's sake. This is why women have to struggle with aging. Why would someone do that? It's mean and childish. Anyway, a great show and really interesting. Give it a min. And you could be hooked too. I really hope there's a season 2 as well.
World on Fire: Episode #1.3 (2019)
I'm Really Getting Into This Series But...
The show is growing on me more and more and I am grateful that I can binge watch it. There is something that is taking me out of it and it's not just this show, but lots of shows and movies. I'm deep into it and then I see that someone has pierced ears! It's like seeing someone with a Beatles tattoo. I know it may be somewhat small but It pulls me out of the story and right back here. Does anyone else ever feel that way? I wonder. I just saw Harry with piercings and I have to ask why they don't just have it covered by the makeup people? It's so easy to do and it only takes about 30 seconds. Anyway, I just wanted to say that and maybe some day they'll change that. :)
Respect (2021)
God Saved The Queen...
I love this movie, it really shows how the young Princess became the "Queen Of Soul." Young Aretha grew up around the greatest artists and many beautiful, strong people who wanted the best for her. It is sad to learn how her father treated her and how he controlled her. I'm sure he loved her and wanted the best for her but didn't always know how. Aretha married a man named Ted White who was a real s.o.b. And I wish she could have been safe and cherished in the marriage instead. There's lots of great music and history involved as well. Jennifer Hudson is amazing as always and her lovely, powerful voice knows no limits. She's fantastic as usual. It's a great movie and I feel like I understand Aretha more and her life here is really interesting. If you like Aretha you love this. I do want to point out that on the X-Ray on the screen it just kept the same five actors from the beginning and I didn't get to know who everyone was in the film and that's a shame. IMDB please fix this, I've never seen it on other movies incorrectly and it's deserves fixing. Thank you.
