well it was definitely something
I decided to watch the movie for Murray Bartlett. These stars are for him and him only.
The dialogue isn't great, the camera work is insulting, and the acting isn't any better. Best performance was given Murray Bartlett, although I may be biased. I've seen him in other projects though, so I'm going to blame the director and other actors for not giving him enough to bounce off of.
Whoever wrote the script needs to be stoned. Such a cliche with the same old boring stereotypes. The story itself did nothing for me. A good movie will make me sit there in my thoughts for hours. Manchester by the Sea, for instance, had me up for a whole night because I just could not stop thinking about it. After I post this review, I will never think about this movie again. Let me emphasize the terrible dialogue again. Although I'm not quite sure if the dialogue really is that bad or the line delivery just sucks. Also, the time jumps are NOT done well. We'd be in the present, then jump to the past, and then back to the present and I wouldn't even notice.
I enjoy watching the earlier on projects of my favorite actors, though, and bonus points if it's terrible. Like seeing them in something so terrible and thinking about where they are no makes it so enjoyable to me. I just love seeing the growth I think. So actually this was kind of a 10/10 personally. I really will not be thinking about this movie again though, it was a fun first-time watch and that's all it'll be.
TLDR; Plot? Nonexistent. Cinematography? Bland. Direction? Meh. Murray Bartlett is the only reason this is worth watching, basically (i'm biased).
