Bandidas (2006)
Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz ? what more do you need?
This is a very good entertaining movie. Its no secret that Hayek and Cruz aren't the greats stars Hollywood has to offer but they do a very good job at keeping you entertained. It is a comedy and it offers just that. Both girls do a fantastic job playing their humours characters with a ton of sex appeal. The Movie also does a good job of making this duo a trio when Steve Zahn comes into the picture. The three have an incredible on screen chemistry, that is very delightful to watch. Dwight Yokme is an incredible badguy and he is the villain we all love to hate. With all the action, comedy and compassion the movie has to offer, it leaves you felling very satisfied. I'm hoping we will see more movies staring Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz.
Tristan + Isolde (2006)
close but no cigar.
This story is probably one of the most beautiful ever told. It has a good cast and beautiful location. But, it seems to come up short. The story line seems to move to quickly and it doesn't spend enough time convincing the viewer about the undying passionate love Tristan and Isolde have for each other. As well as James Franco doesn't seem to be enough of a heart throb to play Tristan. After watching Isolde and King Marke together, it almost made me wish it was a love story on them and not Tristan. Rufus Sewell does a great job as King Marke, a little too good. As he clearly is a scene stealer, and becomes the hunk in the movie. This movie had great potential, but the directing and screenplay left me a bit disappointed. It is however still worth watching.
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006)
Save your money
We took our 2 children ages 3&4 to see this movie before Christmas and it really had me wishing we stayed home. The movie starts out OK, but really goes down hill very quickly and stays on that track for the entire movie. The only Character that was worth watching - and only part of the time - was Martin Short who plays Jack frost. The rest of the Characters came off as annoying and the delivery on any humour was completely off. Half way thru the movie my children became very restless and uninterested in the show (they both are very good at sitting thru whole movies). Santa Clause 3 completely failed at keeping Parents and children entertained. I would not recommend this movie to anyone - not even as a renter.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
Love this movie!
I first saw this movie in the theater when it first came out, it was one of my favorites then and still is. The story is based around 2 teenagers, a little sister and a talking cat. Its very thrilling without a moment of dullness and lets kids escape the world of parents for just over an hour. This is a very cute movie that introduces young viewer to ghoulish creatures like witches and zombies, without scaring them to pieces. From beginning to end it is very well put together with lots of humour to enjoy.
All three witches are charming (as are the other characters in the movie)and almost have you rooting for them. The only bad part of the movie is that it only has two musical numbers, which are both very catchy and well done. Both my Children ages 3&4 love this movie. Excellent entertainment for the whole family.
