Firewatch (2016 Video Game)
10/10
One of my new favourite games
19 September 2022
(SPOILERS LATER BUT FOR NOW YOUR GOOD) I have played and bought a bunch of games and beaten a lot as well, but even in other 3-6 hour games I normally beat them in 3 or 4 sittings. For this game, I started playing in the morning after eating and as soon as I started I immersed myself into this story that made me completely forget that these characters weren't real people because of how great the writing and voice acting was. I normally give video games the benefit of the doubt when it comes to voice acting even if it isn't great, but this voice acting would genuinely pass in a film. I was very surprised to see how many criticisms this game has in the most helpful reviews such as the gameplay, which is not the center of this game. The gameplay is simple so you can listen to the dialogue while playing. This games story moves forward by you simply hiking around while talking to Delilah. If you had some complex epic combat gameplay you wouldn't be able to focus on the important dialogue. (spoilers from now on) The ending is the biggest criticism, but I think the ending is great. Everybody expects something huge but you don't always need that. You just have a good conversation with Delilah and leave, but it leaves you wondering. Wondering if she was possibly teaming up with Ned, and all the possibilities about the teenagers, but that's the point of the game. It's about paranoia. You fear being watched once you see that shadow figure, it's a really creepy game when you think about it. Overall I'd rate this game a 9.5/10, it should be more well-known and it's extremely underrated.

12 Angry Men (1957)

Writing is the most important part of this film
4 March 2022
This film deserves its #5 spot on the top 250 best films of all time (According to IMDb). And there is one thing that I noticed about this film. Everything great is because of the writing. The acting, Emotions, Characters, Plot, personal self-enjoyment, and even the cinematography are all vastly improved by the writing. The acting is excellent but without such a great script all of it would seem unrealistic. For example, see some of the scenes in the star wars prequels. I believe that some of the people who acted in them were good actors but had horrible dialogue written by George Lucas that made their acting look awful. For example, I haven't seen it but Hayden Christensen is known for having a great performance in the film "Shattered Glass" Made in 2003 but since his most popular films are badly written, he is known as a bad actor. This films writing however made all of these actors well known for being some of the best of their time.

The emotional core of this film is driven by the writing and although that might seem obvious to you, other people may still think it's driven by the excellent acting, but don't realize that the acting is driven by the writing.

The characters in this film are some of the best I, and most people (who have seen this film) have ever seen. We start the film in a room with 12 strangers and get to know them over time until the point where they feel like real humans and you don't feel like you're watching a film anymore. Once again the writing is the main attribute but this time it's driven by the acting and the writing. I will admit that even with this excellent writing you can still have a bad performance.

I've seen a few people saying this is boring, but I have no idea how you could ever think that. The premise might seem boring, you may ask "Why one room for 99% of the film?". But trust me and almost everybody else when I say that this is not boring at all. The writing and the plot make this a very enjoyable drama/mystery film. Whenever you see a film, don't assume that it's boring, read the plot, look at the genre, and decide if it will be your thing.

Lastly, the cinematography in this film. It's very creative and has a lot of hidden things in it. For example, (SPOILERS HERE) When Juror 7 (Henry Fonda) slowly convinces more people, the camera moves down because he is becoming the boss and he is now above everybody else, but at the beginning the camera is above him, showing how everybody else is above him. (END OF SPOILERS) Now that is really cool and the writing helped make that possible.

Overall, as I said at the beginning this is truly one of the best films of all time and it deserves its place on the IMDb top 5. It's a masterpiece and it goes straight into my top 10. This is my longest review yet so I hope you liked it. Goodbye! 9.8/10.

Little chart thing to see why I rated it a 10:

Acting: 10/10

Cinematography: 9/10

Plot: 10/10.

Self-enjoyment: 9/10

Characters: 10/10

Emotions: 9/10

Score: 7/10

Editing: 9/10.

Writing: 11/10.

Flawed but overall entertaining film.
4 March 2022
Finished after 2 days. I was hoping it would go uphill, (because I watched the first half yesterday and the last 20 minutes of it were REALLY good) but this just stayed at a solid 7/10 with some bad elements. Catherine Zeta-Jones's performance is mixed, as sometimes she is decent, and sometimes her performance is bad. Sometimes the scenes drag out and overall I think it could have been only 2 hours long with some scenes cut out, but the cinematography (especially in the first half) is surprisingly amazing, the editing is great, and the score is good. Overall this is an entertaining, fun film that is flawed. 7/10.

Great, but what can I say that hasn't been said already?
28 February 2022
I think this film is great. I don't have much to say about it as others do though, it is certainly scary, and it's funny imagining people so scared they're screaming running out of the theater. This film is tame by today's standards, but I respect how long ago it was made, which added to how scary it is. The makeup is VERY good and Max Schreck's performance is just as good, everybody has already said what I am saying about this film though so I will summarize this by saying this is a great film. 8/10.

My Oldest watch, boring but that doesn't matter
31 January 2022
There isn't much in the film, just a bridge and people going across it, but it's cool how there is footage from this long ago freely available on things like YouTube, still boring and the only reason to watch is to see 38 seconds of how people lived in 1896. 4.5/10.

What a great film.
29 January 2022
I thought this film was going to be confusing, and I didn't know what was going on at the beginning, so I assumed that it would be like that the entire film, but... no it's not that bad. Although you do need to listen to almost all of the dialogue because everything they say is important, it's not as confusing as some people say it is, just make sure you don't zone out while watching it. This film is not for really young audiences, but not for people over 40, some people over 40 WILL like it, or maybe even love it, but a lot of them would think the action is too fast-paced. Something that enhances the action is the amazing score, and the score just got better and better as I went along. (My two favorite tracks from it are the credits track and the ending track) I love the ending to this film, it has my favorite part of the score, and it keeps you thinking, it keeps you thinking so much that people are still talking about it to this day. There are so many positive things to say about this film, the CGI is amazing, the screenplay is amazing (As I said earlier, it could be a confusing film, but it isn't because of this screenplay) and it also has one of the best casts I have ever seen, along with Christopher Nolan's Batman films. Overall, I love this film and cant wait to watch Interstellar as my next Nolan movie! (As I have heard it has a score composed by the same guy)

Shockingly Amazing!
18 January 2022
Wow. Just wow. I started watching knowing this was a good film, but for some reason, my expectations were around a 7/10, and I was wrong. The beginning of this movie is probably only a 7/10, it was a good character introduction but it isn't really anything special. The ending is so good though. If this entire movie was the quality of the ending, I would have this in my top 10 animated films. This film's animation is incredible. I think the character designs are pretty good, and the backgrounds are REALLY good. The thing that surprised me the most about this film is the really good score, the score to this movie seems like something I would listen to in my free time and it really surprised me. Overall, this is an amazing film that you should watch if you haven't already.

Great film.
4 January 2022
Wow, I haven't seen this film for a long time, so I forgot how good it was! This is a creative, funny film, and I was surprised at how interested I was in the plot. At first, I didn't love it, but once they caught the first ghost, I was hooked. It's got a good cast, and I LOVE the theme song. Many jokes made me laugh out loud, and overall this film is very well acted. The special effects were extremely good for the '80s, and overall I just love this movie. 7.8/10.

This film is decent, but that is not what this review is for.
3 January 2022
This film is decent but very forgettable. That is not the topic of this review but I just wanted to mention that. The topic of this review is the fact that a lot of people say this is their favorite star wars film, and I am pretty sure I know why. (Keep in mind, if you genuinely think this is the best film, that's fine) it's an easy answer, nostalgia. I love the score, and the effects but every star wars film has those qualities, it is nostalgia. A lot of people who were born in the '90s or even the '00s grew up on these films. And because it is easily the best out of the prequel trilogy, people who grew up on these films say it is a 10/10 from straight nostalgia, ignoring the sometimes terrible dialogue, and bad acting at some points. Don't get me wrong I would call this a good film, but check any review from someone older than 30 and they will at most give this a 8/10 (which is very rare)

Hilda: Chapter 2: The Midnight Giant (2018)
Season 1, Episode 2
9/10
Already a fantastic episode?
2 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have had Hilda recommended by some people I know, and it is a unique, entertaining experience! This episode is very good, and it starts another plotline. You are expecting the plot from the first episode to continue, and it does, but the first 10 minutes are more about a giant. I like the ending, as I said, a lot of the episode is about the giant, and the part at the ending where the giant steps on their house and doesn't even notice, with Hilda then realizing that her mom is stepping on an even smaller house is a great moment, and of the episodes I have seen so far, that is my favorite moment. This episode is once again beautifully animated, and the animation style is relaxing, the simple designs with the beautiful backgrounds look nice, and I am glad this show gets a satisfying conclusion. (Although I haven't seen it yet) 8.6/10.

I think it's great but its a bit overrated
1 January 2022
I respect Cartoon Network for making a show like this, it is very unique and very weird. Cartoon Network has made many other shows that are unique and weird. But none of them are even close to being like this. This is a very well-written show with characters that I love. The characters are the best part of this miniseries, Gregory is really funny, and Wirt is a great character to have for less comedy and much more character development. Characters like Beatrice, The Woodsmen, and The Beast are very good, and at times I like them better than Wirt and Greg. This show is also very weird. Some episodes are a little bit too weird for me, but for the most part, for a casual viewer, you will be fine. 'Over the Garden Wall' is very entertaining, and although confusing at times, you can normally watch it with an understanding of what's happening, and the main plot of the series is a bit confusing at the start, but overall won't ruin your experience. I would like to address this, this show is not for everyone, in one episode I was wondering if I would even like this show all that much because sometimes this show gets a little bit too weird, but if you can handle a somewhat confusing plot and very weird episodes, you should like, or even love this show. I like the score in this show and it fits the series very well, it fits with the beautiful animation, which has amazing backgrounds and character designs, are simple but fit very well with the score, theme, and backgrounds of this show. My one main problem with this show is that sometimes I feel like I am missing something. Everybody else has 10/10 or 9/10 reviews, but I would just rate it an 8 or even a 7. I felt like I was missing something when I watched this, and although I am aware this show is not for everyone, I think it is a show that could be one of my favorite animated shows, but I don't see the 10/10 in it that everyone else sees. The songs are still so good though, 'Potatoes and Molasses' is an actual bop. 7.8/10.

Over the Garden Wall: Chapter 10: The Unknown (2014)
Season 1, Episode 10
9/10
Best episode.
1 January 2022
This episode is everything you want from this show, it is a great conclusion, and it even leaves you asking some questions. The plot on this show is very creative, and since this is the episode that has to finish up, it is by far the best episode of this series. It is once again an eerie episode with a good score, and it has beautiful animation, which is normal for this show, but the way it concludes the whole show in 11 minutes is really impressive, and it is very well-written. Gregory is once again my favorite character and other characters like Wirt and The Woodsmen are still great. Cartoon Network was brave making a show this different and unique, and from what I know they don't even have any other miniseries, but they pulled it off and made a great show!

One of my favorites from the show.
1 January 2022
This episode is about how Wirt and Greg got to the unknown, and it answers a lot of questions you get in the first episode. It is really entertaining watching what Wirt and Greg were like before they got to the unknown, and how they got there. I do have a couple questions because it doesn't mix with the first episode that well, but it is still overall really good, and answers many mysteries that started at the very beginning of the show. 8.4/10.

Very chill and relaxing.
1 January 2022
Sure there are action sequences, and those aren't chill, but all the scenes of just dialogue are very relaxing to me. The character animation is relaxing, and the backgrounds are very relaxing. They made their house look very cozy, and I really like the voice acting as well. Very good animation, and overall a really entertaining episode with a creative plot! 8.2/10.

Halloween (1978)

Fantastic, I normally don't like horror but this is amazing.
31 December 2021
(Closest you can get to spoilers without having spoilers) I have never liked horror all that much but this movie taught me that even my least favorite genre can be great. There are quite a lot of flaws though, and a lot of them are very easy to point out, but it doesn't drag this movie down to a 7 or 8. Some of the flaws are the fact that it has the "Teenage girl falls" trope and the "Girl can't unlock door" trope, but it is not as annoying as this was one of the first movies to have those tropes. You could also argue that it has a pretty generic plot, a murderer trying to kill a teenage girl, but once again, this is one of the first, if not the first movie like that. This movie also has a very low budget, I am pretty sure it is around the 330k mark, but this movie does such a good job at not making that too apparent, it is a little bit cheesy sometimes, but for the time, you would expect something much more cheesy. John Carpenter was smart with the money, and made the plot something that could easily be done without too much money spent on it. Normally I don't really talk about scores for films, as I don't find them really noticeable, (with a few exceptions) but this one was to noticeably amazing for me to not talking about. There are about 2 songs, and although they can get repetitive they fit Michael Myers and the theme of the movie so well. Another thing that fits the movie very well is the camera angles and darkness of the entire thing, for the first third of the movie, you barely even see Michael, and it is very well done. It is also very dark, almost all the scenes outside take place at night and a lot of the scenes inside are very dark, it fits the film so well and I can't recommend it more. 8.7/10 easily.

Good, but too weird for my likings.
31 December 2021
My internet keeps going out so this review will be very short, I will update it later. The beginning and end of this episode are so good, but the main plot is very random and although the song is very good, for this one it is hard to turn my brain off and wait for the occasional laugh. In my last review I said that I thought I was missing something in this show, and although it was more apparent last review, that is still here. I really wish I could enjoy this as much as some others, but I cant. The animation is still great and it is still entertaining and unique, but the uniqueness doesn't make this show outstanding for me.

Great
31 December 2021
I have reviewed the other episodes of this show but I have not yet mentioned that I feel like I'm missing something. I watched this with someone else, and they feel like that too. They liked this show a lot less than me, and it definitely isn't a show that either of us would watch on our own. I like this show, and I would overall give it an 8/10 but all the other reviews lead me to believe I am missing something. This episode is the best example, 8.9? I might rate it 8.1 at the most, but I don't really understand what makes this show outstanding. I have looked for many reviews, and the best I have found is that this show just isn't for some people, like I said earlier, but this is a show I actually really like, the main plot is very interesting to me and the jokes are funny, but I feel like there is something to do with the plot (of the specific episode, not the series) that I am missing. Still a great episode. 8.1/10.

Great episode, but 8.6 average?
30 December 2021
This is one of the better episodes of this show. And I really like everything that happens on the boat, it is all super fun and the song is great, But although it is still good, and some of it is important to the plot later, the 2nd half was kind of generic, without spoiling it is kind of hard to explain why I didn't like it as much as the first half, but I will describe it as something that was kind of predictable, although I didn't predict it. However, this episode has everything an episode in this show needs, jokes, weirdness, and beautiful animation. My favorite thing about this episode is how entertained I was watching the first half, I know it would be risky, but I think they should have made this whole episode on the boat. 8.2/10.

Over the Garden Wall: Chapter 5: Mad Love (2014)
Season 1, Episode 5
8/10
So many great episodes.
30 December 2021
"Over the Garden wall" is a very eerie series, I wouldn't consider it a horror, it isn't scary, but it takes place in a dark setting most of the time, it is quite strange, and it is fear-inspiring. This episode is not as good as some other episodes of this series, but it is quite fear-inspiring compared to other episodes (in my opinion) and I think that is what makes this episode great. I really don't have much to say about this episode otherwise, the animation is still great, and the characters are funny and likable. 7.7/10.

VERY GOOD, only episode in the first half of the show to be just as good a E2
29 December 2021
WOW. This episode is very important to the plot. The ending is so good and it sets up a mystery for the following episodes. The animation is so beautiful. I haven't talked about this in my other reviews for this show, but the animation is so well done, and a pleasure to look at, it is a pretty simple style, but the backgrounds mixed with the style of the characters mix very well. This episode has some funny jokes, and good songs, and overall may be my favorite episode. (out of the ones I have seen so far, which are episodes 1-6) The ending is absolutely brilliant, and the characters are so likable, I struggle to find anything wrong with this episode! The reason this is an 8 is because overall this show is a tiny bit too weird for my liking, but it doesn't ruin the show, not even E3 is heavily affected by weirdness. This is a great, entertaining episode. 8.4/10.

Ehhhhh I don't know if I like this or think its TOO weird
29 December 2021
(One minor spoiler, but overall a spoiler free review) This episode isn't boring, but it isn't great because it can be too weird. I still like a couple things in this episode, like how it starts being more of a musical, and "Potatoes and Molasses" is a bop. There are some funny jokes, like the one where Miss Langtree's dad can't pay for anything, so he has to sell the school instruments but right after the kids just steal them from him, but that's really all I thought was great about this episode. Like I said this episode is a bit too odd for my likings, and that is surprising considering I liked the episodes that came before this, but the way that this episode is odd feels like a different type of odd and it is not as entertaining. The songs, other than the bop that is "Potatoes and Molasses" aren't all that good, which is kind of sad because I like all the songs in Chapter 4. Overall, this episode is kind of great, and kind of just ok. 7.3/10.

Another great episode, even better than the first.
29 December 2021
I love most stuff Cartoon Network (and Adult Swim, from what i've seen) puts out, with a few exceptions. Over the Garden Wall, while odd, might be one of my new favorites from them. It is very unique, and in my last review on this I slowly figured out why it is so fantastic. This episode may be really weird, which can be a problem for me at times but once again this show can do whatever it wants and still be entertaining. This episode is honestly very entertaining, and although some may call it a "filler" episode, compared to some other ones, which is kind of true it is still almost a 9/10 because even "filler" episodes are extremely entertaining, which shows like this and Gravity Falls do really well at executing. This show makes "filler" episodes still feel very important, if that makes much sense, and this episode is important because it introduces Beatrice (blue bird from the first episode) in more detail. Fantastic episode, 8.4/10.

Interesting, very interesting.
29 December 2021
I don't really know what to say about this series. Usually when the way I say something like "This show/movie exists, that's it" That just means it is mediocre and boring, but although this is great, I would also describe it as a show that "exists". It is hard to explain why I like this show, I can't pinpoint the exact thing that makes it good, unlike other animated shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, or Phineas and Ferb. It IS funny, and very weird, and I guess being funny is a compliment, but being weird can be bad or good. This is definitely weird in a good way, but I don't know why. I guess that is what makes this show so unique and fun to watch, you are not sure what is making you hooked, as the writing at times just sounds like they thought of random things and just squished them together, but it is so good and I guess that is the writing, although it sounds like nonsense, it makes a great piece of entertainment that shows how even ridiculously weird things can be extremely entertaining. I think my own review just made me like this show even more. 8/10.

Futurama: My Three Suns (1999)
Season 1, Episode 7
7/10
Most forgettable in the first season, but good.
28 December 2021
(Ranking every episode of Futurama #7) I love Futurama, so re-watching this I was expecting a good episode, and it delivered but it is overall not very memorable and probably my least favorite episode from the 1st season. At times this episode was kind of boring, and although unique, I'm not a huge fan of the plot. And although all I have really done is criticized this episode, that doesn't mean it isn't hilarious and filled with characters that can even make uninteresting plots very entertaining. Honestly, I don't think there are any bad episodes of Futurama up until around season 7, (6 in DVD order) so even if this one isn't exceptional, always expect episodes this early on to be good. 7/10, good, funny episode.

I got what I expected!
28 December 2021
This is a very good movie. I started watching expecting an 8/10 movie, and I got an 8/10 movie! This film is about a guy named Jesper who is very lazy and spoiled, so his dad sends him to a town way up north called Smeerensburg to teach him a lesson. That is all I will say about this movie because I want you to experience it with as few spoilers as possible. This movie, while not hilarious, is very funny and has some recurring jokes that are hard to notice, but when you do they are funny, and you feel proud for noticing them even if they are somewhat easy to spot. This movie is very consistently good, and I could see why this had such great reviews from the start but it started getting better around an hour in, and by then I agreed with all the reviews. I have a few complaints, like how a couple of parts in the 3rd act don't make sense but the rest of the 3rd act makes up for that. The 3rd act is almost always my favorite part of any movie but for this movie, I would give that award to the 2nd act. This is a great Christmas movie, sadly I watched it on the 27th. 8.2/10.
