Copenhagen Cowboy (2022)
Trying too hard to be artsy and stylistic
I watched all six episodes hoping for something to happen and finally have the main character actually lead the movie. But sadly that didn't happen. What wasted time. I agree with others that this could have been a single two hour movie. But unlike others I don't need it fast paced but rather just some pace... any pace... if there weren't 10 seconds between each sentence of dialogue. So much stylistic editing and colorization and yet so little substance. At this rate it will take two hundred episodes to resolve anything in this show. I know this director is known for his style and artsiness but at some point you just got to make a show or movie. This made the whole thing boring af. I am sad that I or anyone else watched this and lost the same six hours of life that I did. I will not be watching any of the new episodes. No more Refn for me.
Gil Bok-soon (2023)
It's a good assassin film
Seen a lot of people reviewing and comparing this movie to John Wick and saying that it isn't as good. But John Wick is soooo cliché and gratuitous with it's violence and isn't very good. I stopped half way through John Wick 2 because I couldn't take it anymore. In Kill Boksoon, I liked the main story and I also liked the mother-daughter story as an opposite to the main which brought some balance between action and emotion. The characters are well developed and have depth. The acting is very good. It's worth watching and doesn't feel as long as the 2hr 14min suggest. If you like John Wick and assassin movies but don't like this one then I'm smh.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020)
So bad I couldn't finish it. And I'm a fan of B&T
I am a fan of the original and even didn't dislike the Bogus Journey. But I watched as much of this as I could on a plane flight yesterday and could only stomach about 35 minutes of this awful train wreck. The only reasonably good acting was Alex Winter's reprisal as Bill and Kristen Schall as Rufus' daughter with the always reliable Holland Taylor as the Great Leader. Otherwise it was atrocious from the standpoint of acting quality. The way the writers forced Bill and Ted's daughters to be clones of their dads was a bit ridiculous. And the woman who played Ted's daughter was so cringey bad that I was embarrassed for her. And the actor who played Louis Armstrong was incredibly ridiculous and was like a cartoonish caricature of a caricature trying to overact as Armstrong.
I assume that the daughters have to join the band in order to be able to properly write the song that unites the universe? It's only so obvious because the Great Leader mentioned that their "band" would perform that song at 7:17pm that day and the daughters' musical knowledge was incredibly deep. And the daughters started regurgitating the whole go back in time to get the musical greats to help thing. I doubt I'm wrong.
The whole thing was so bad and I was wanting to laugh but was too busy cringing at everything I just described. I don't even care how it ends. That's saying a lot for me as I have plowed through to finish some really bad movies. To be so bad as to have a fan of a franchise to not care how it ends it a true failure. This film shouldn't have been made.
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)
Would have been better without Garfield
Jessica Chastain did well as Tammy Faye and Vincent D'onofrio was a spot on Jerry Falwell. The story was a bit long and dull in some points. But I gotta say Andrew Garfield was absolutely not believable as Jim Bakker. It was watching Garfield acting like he was trying to be Jim Bakker. And when it feels like that, it brings the movie down. I think the movie doesn't put enough emphasis on their negative actions like Jim's embezzlement. If you have a couple of spare hours, you could consider watching it.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
How can this be 7.3 out of 10?
I really can't believe the average rating is so high. Don't waste your time like I did. I couldn't take it anymore after episode 3. It's very slow paced and boring. Bad diologue/bad writing. The main actors are not nearly as good as the supporting cast. The "five" are so untrusting of Rosamund Pike's character AFTER she saves their lives at the beginning. It doesn't make sense and that Rand character is an annoying whiner. I gave it 2 stars only because the Trollocs look cool.
You should watch The Witcher instead if you want magic and medieval fantasy. It's waayyyy better.
Johnny Test (2005)
Adults hate it but kids love it...
That's what i get from all these salty reviews. This just in... it's not made for adults. My 7 year old son loves it. For those who say there is no redeeming quality in the show. After the episodes rage on due to Johnny's self-inflicted trouble, he does realize whatever lesson is needed to get out of the situation. As an adult, I've had to endure too many shows I despise, but I can appreciate that the level of entertainment required for kids is different. Have any of you watched those "awesome" Super Friends episodes you loved as a kid? I rewatched a few on DVD that I bought for my son. They are truly awful and have huge plot holes and unimaginative writing. So, just take a chill and let your kids decide what kids' entertainment is good. Maybe you should have them tell you what to write in the reviews? And if you don't have kids and are watching these shows, then maybe you shouldn't really complain. They are not created for adults.
Long Shot (2019)
Much better than expected
Had wanted to watch it but didn't take the time to do so until now. But so happy that I did. It's an exceptionally underrated movie. It wouldn't win an Oscar, but that's because the Oscars are BS. If you like funny lines and a good story with some serious meaningful thoughts worked into a romantic comedy in a Serh Rogen style but not over-the-top, then I highly recommend this movie. I don't write a lot of reviews on here, but this one got to me. Watch it!
