Don't believe the Hate. I am astounded to see so many hating on Nic Cage and this movie. Especially after seeing it the other night. That's right, I actually SAW the movie unlike some of the w*nkers on these boards. If you don't like the movie, that's fine, that's valid. But I'm shocked at how many of these so-called reviewers are writing in after clearly not seeing the film. Blackheart doesn't transform? Scarecrow is a crappy villain? Maybe. But we'll never know since he's not in the film to begin with! The action, as you may already suspect, is full on! Some of the best action and fight scenes that I've ever seen. The audience I saw the film with was way into it -- audible gasps and laughter at all of the appropriate spots. Granted, this was a cast and crew screening for the locals. But in my experience those are usually the worst screenings as everyone is obsessing over their work instead of just enjoying the film. It's a full on roller coaster ride and the kind of movie you can't download or watch on DVD and get the full effect. Sorry, but when I go to the movies I want to be swept away into a fantasy world and that's what the filmmakers have done. Cage (and what IS is with all that hate?) is hilarious -- reminded me of Face Off how big he went and crazy things got. The movie rides the line of camp throughout but never goes too far. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
