The Human Race (2013)
Pushed the envelope so hard, it fell off the table.
There's a few spoilers here, so don't read it if you don't want to. To begin, I had heard that this was like a combination of the hunger games and Stephen King's "The long walk" Instead, what I saw was a bloody and pointlessly gore filled movie that had little character development, and more than necessary controversial acts.
Now, I'm no prude and have seen my fair share of horror films and do enjoy them, as long as its in good taste, But even I have my limits. It begins with a short segway of a young woman developing cancer, and then winning the battle against it. Her head explodes, end of story. The one and only character that is somewhat developed and interesting is killed within minutes.
We then get shifted to a chauvinistic veteran and his nerdy vice principal side kick who get thrown into the human race game. Rules are simple, if you get lapped twice, you die, you touch grass, you die. For a few minutes, things are somewhat interesting. The deaf couple almost tug at your heartstrings, but not for long. The exploding heads were a bit excessive. My problem is that the movie's violence didn't add to anything. An unborn baby explodes, two children are violently killed, All in all, I found it to be a repulsive and vile project. Character development was poor. I feel that the director was trying to go for a film that stirred enough controversy that it would sell itself. What they made was a poorly written pointlessly gory version of a story that had potential. If you're looking for pointless bloody entertainment, go ahead, But there's so many better choices out there.
2010: Moby Dick (2010)
If you really wanna watch it, throw science out the window.
2010:Moby Dick is one of the most illogical movies I've ever seen. Good for a few uncomfortable laughs, but that's about it. I also did appreciate the fact that this movie had very little swearing and it had no inappropriate sex scenes. But I am a man of science and a lot of this movie had glaring errors which i'm gonna write out for a while.
#1. The whale is 500 feet long, how can it hide on a beach that's roughly 12 feet deep? #2 Compared to an Ohio class submarine (560 feet long) and a Virginia class submarine (377 feet long) why are they severely dwarfed compared to a 500 foot whale? #3 Too liberal use of nukes... #4 How could anyone survive 3 nukes going into an island? I could go on but at that point I'd be rambling. This movie was bad to the point that it wasn't even enjoyable as a joke B movie. Barry Bostwick looked like he was in pain and no one else was memorable.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)
Lucas has gone mad with technology
When I was a kid, I had an unfathomable sense of imagination, Legend of Zelda, Indiana Jones, and star wars were all my kind of thing... I am now 21, although I still have my adventuresome side, I am now much more intelligent, and have a strong sense of logic... this movie, although having wondrous adventure, lacks everyday logic and science that would make the movie watchable, Harrison Ford plays an aged Indiana Jones (duh!) and Shia Lebouf plays his estranged son. (He must have the best publicist in the world!!) many of the things that happen in the movie bend and break the laws of physics, such as an object having a strong magnetic pull, yet objects are simply removed with human hands... as the movie went on I felt that Indiana Jones, a man who wanted to preserve history for eons to come, had changed into a destructive old man. I just don't really get it...
