Batman Ninja (2018)

Ridiculous!
24 April 2024
This is a hate it or love it feature, and it's a very narrow line between them.

The first time i was watching this, i had many moments thinking to myself ; this thing can't possibly get any weirder!! But time after time i was proven wrong!! It's like Batman meets Power Rangers, meets Transformers, Kaiju... seriously ,what the hell!!

If you can get through this and learn to appreciate it like i did, it's a FANTASTIC animated movie!!

If you don't, just watch it for the artwork alone. Incredible costume designs, backgrounds and action scenes.

The final rooftop scene is jaw dropping beautifully made.

In short, a beautiful animated feature with a non traditional Batman story and setting. But don't take it too seriously.

The Flash (I) (2023)

For the die hard fans
14 June 2023
The most anticipated movie of the year for me so my expectations were very high.

The opening of the movie was fantastic. Good action scenes with the right amount of humor for me. But also our first glance at what looks like 'cheap' CGI. ( it gets a lot worse) Good storyline, some unpredictable turns of events ( for me) keeping it interesting throughout the entire movie, leading to a climax that's a bit rushed.

I would've loved to see a bit more from the main villain.

Stealing the show of course was Keaton's Batman.

But Sasha Calle's Supergirl was also amazing.

Glad both had a lot of screen time.

Batfleck also had a few great scenes but I don't think his costume was the kind of quality for the close up shots.

Great cameos by a range of dc characters, if you're familiar with them!! I loved it but i heard a younger couple next to me wondering who the hell these people were!!

Story: 8 Action: 9 CGI: 4 Acting: 8.

Kill Boksoon (2023)
5/10
John Wick light
31 March 2023
As a fan of Korean cinema this one disappointed a bit. Maybe my expectations were too high.

A female assassin working for an elite agency develops a conscience during an assignment and refuses to eliminate her target.

By doing so she becomes a target herself.

That same assassin is a mother during the day trying to raise her daughter as good as she can. But this part of the story is z bit underused.

It's like they crammed the first 3 John Wick movies into one movie with a female lead... having a daughter.

The assassin formula has been done many times and this version offers nothing new to the genre.

Good action with good fight choreography but story wise nothing new or refreshing.

If you like Asian cinema in this genre i would recommend The Fable part 1&2, The man from nowhere and the outlaws just to name a few.

Became a fan after the first movie!
13 February 2023
Like most reviewers mentioned, a sequel that lives up or is even better then the first movie.

The first scene is again a bit over the top but after that things slow down a bit until the final action scene on the scaffolding.

The action, fight choreography and stuntwork in this movie are of the best quality. No cheap cgi tricks but real humans jumping from buildings.

I don't think there could be a better actor for playing the part of The Fable. This guy shows absolutely no emotion whatsoever... and that's a good thing!!!

The only negative thing i can come up with is that I haven't heard of a part 3, i would watch the third one in theatre, no doubt about it!!

Good 'fast' thriller
13 February 2023
The movie starts out a bit weak, the characters are arrogant and comical at first, taking selfies with a corpse or treating people like suspects just because the detective is having a bad day.

Whe the story takes shape they all get to be more serious and professional.

The plot evolves in a fast pace, it wouldn't hurt to make this movie 20 mins longer. Some twists in events are unfolded very early, in my opinion they could've build up a lot more suspense before giving away this major plot point.

Fantastic special effects and a lot of graphic scenes portraied in this movie. I would dare to say it's a bit of a horror thriller and I understand the comparison to the movie 'seven'.

For me a 7/10 and i would recommend this movie to all lovers of a good thriller story.

A nightmare
6 February 2023
This is probably the worst movie i have ever endured in all my life!

Me and my wife went to see this nightmare of a movie in theatre.

Looking at it on paper, with all the big names involved in this movie, it couldn't be bad.

Leaving the theatre we were both stressed out.

What a chaotic, incoherent mess of a movie did we just watch?

The couple in this movie ( Bardem and Lawrence) are renovating a house.

In the bedroom there's a war going on with 'German' like soldiers, in the living room a party where everyone present wants to destroy the interior as much as they can.

It just doesn't make sense.

I found out later that the story is about Christ and the bible.

Never ever will i watch another Aranofsky movie in my life.

Started out great... but no climax
5 February 2023
After the first episodes i thought the show had a similar vibe/quality as the english serie 'the missing'.

Good mystery, a few shady suspects and a few interesting interweaving story lines.

After watching episode 5 of 6 I was considering ending it.

The 'climax' had been revealed and it's an unsatisfying conclusion.

If you like a good whodunnit, this is not what you're looking for.

The good:

Really good acting High quality production Short time run (about 45 min. Each episode)

The bad.

Not all questions answered Unsatisfying conclusion Ended with opening for 2nd season

5/10 , sadly the storyline went downhill a bit in my opinion. But 5 points for the good acting and production.

Predators (2010)
9/10
Homecoming
27 August 2022
Fantastic asset in the Predator franchise with Easter eggs and mention of the original 80's movie.

Great storyline with a few twists and turns set in the Predator's hunting planet.

The scenery/locations are breathtaking and the action is superb.

They also did an amazing job with the weaponry and gadget designs.

A big plus is the original score by Alan Silvestri.

The only thing bothering me a bit is that Adrien Brody doesn't know how to handle a weapon like a professional. But overall i liked all the actors.

Lawrence Fishburne in a minor role but as intense as usual.

For me the movie deserves a solid 9/10 rating.

Solid Blumhouse production
22 July 2022
Noticed some horror fans being displeased with this movie.

There not much slash and gore in it, but for me that's not a requirement.

Very strong acting performances, an edge of your seat suspence and a few jump scares did the trick for me.

I also liked the score and soundtrack a lot.

It's not a movie with an unpredictable twist of events but it's one of the better thrillers i've seen in a while.

Average story, good acting, cinematography and music
25 April 2022
The story is ok, nothing unexpected happens. From other reviewers I've read that the ending was something spectacular and i was expecting some sort of twist but that's really not the case here.

Good acting, even from the side characters like the sheriff and his deputy.

What's with the 9 stars reviews??
30 March 2022
Not much happened in the first episode that made sense to a guy like me not knowing a thing about who Moon knight is.

Maybe it will catch up in the next episodes but so far below average.

I'm a fan of Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke is doing his thing as well so no negative comments on the acting from me.

Hope the next episodes can change my mind but i doubt it.

Started out really, but really slow.
20 February 2022
While watching the first half of the movie I couldn't believe the high rating it received from both critics and the audience.

But the movie turns into a classic western in the last 20 minutes, giving an answer to those high ratings.

Solid acting and photography.

Wouldn't recommend watching the trailer.

Whodunit for dumb people
13 February 2022
Giving away explicit clues made it clear who the killer was before the murder had even happened.

I was still hoping for a more surprising or complicated twist, turned out to be false hope.

Ridiculous
19 January 2022
I blame myself for watching the entire thing.

I was more busy shaking my head in disbelief from all the dumb things that happened.

A detective who spends most of his time in bed not answering his phone.

A woman who wants to disappear but lives in driving distance from her old life.

Then between episode 6 and 7 i thought i skipped an episode!!

It looks like a days of our lives production.

Sure not my cup of tea!!

Friendly neighbourhood Venom
6 January 2022
The first one was just ok in my opinion.

With this one i was glad to see the end credits.

On the movie poster you see two monstrous creatures displayed against each other.

In the movie it's like getting the Nickelodean version of Venom.

Also not a big fan of the CGI, it seemed the characters never really belonged in the place they were, light and shadow wise i figure.

Best Spider-man movie so far
6 January 2022
Visually stunning with a great storyline ( even the new movie 'No way home' used the rough layout).

Fantastic portrayals of the villains, Lieb Schreiber as the Kingpin is amazing!.

Looking forward to the sequels.

Timeless
5 January 2022
From the perfectly casted actors, Alan Silvestri's score and the time machine designed out of a Delorean.

This movie is perfect and timeless, many different generations will embrace it.

Even the poster is a classic!!

Best thing i've seen on Netflix in a long time
12 December 2021
This movie was on my watchlist for some time before i actually had the courage to start watching it.

Wasn't expecting much but the action scenes were amazing and the humour was just my thing.

The main actor delivers a splendid job portraying an estranged hitman trying to fit in.

Watched the sequel as well and I'll probably read the books now that i found out about this.

Not the 'classic' Bond
13 November 2021
Normally after seeing a Bond movie, as a guy, you should have the feeling of, i wish i was a secret agent!

Not this Bond!! Damn, what happened to him?

Where's that cool, macho and tough as nails MI6 agent?

I don't mind men crying and talking about love every half hour, but come on, it's James Bond not Hugh Grant!!

Lots of irregularities also in the movie. If you have a device that destroys all electrical components around you, you would think that the earpiece would be gone as well?

As good as possible
13 November 2021
Face it, a follow up as good as the '84 movie is impossible. Even the sequel Ghostbusters 2 was not up to the task.

But Afterlife is as close as it gets.

Perfect casting with some amazing performances by the up and coming young talents present in the movie.

Good storytelling, action sequences, humor, and the score based on Elmer Bernstein is fantastic.

That's why in my opinion the movie is worth a 10, I can't imagine a better follow up then this.
