Kanojo, Okarishimasu (2020)
Bruh
Soup is a primarily liquid food, generally served warm or hot (but may be cool or cold), that is made by combining ingredients of meat or vegetables with stock, milk, or water. Hot soups are additionally characterized by boiling solid ingredients in liquids in a pot until the flavors are extracted, forming a broth. Soups are similar to stews, and in some cases there may not be a clear distinction between the two; however, soups generally have more liquid (broth) than stews. In traditional French cuisine, soups are classified into two main groups: clear soups and thick soups. The established French classifications of clear soups are bouillon and consommé. Thick soups are classified depending upon the type of thickening agent used: purées are vegetable soups thickened with starch; bisques are made from puréed shellfish or vegetables thickened with cream; cream soups may be thickened with béchamel sauce; and veloutés are thickened with eggs, butter, and cream. Other ingredients commonly used to thicken soups and broths include rice, lentils, flour, and grains; many popular soups also include pumpkin, carrots, potatoes, pig's trotters and bird's nests. Other types of soup include fruit soups, dessert soups, pulse soups like split pea, cold soups and other styles.
Toy Story 2 (1999)
(9.7/10) An amazing sequel that expands the universe of the original
This is hands down the best Toy Story movie out of them all. It expands and builds on top of the first movie so excellently that you have to wonder how they made a movie this good in less than a year. It explores themes of belonging and what it means to be a toy. The film focuses on 2 different plots: Woody finding out about Woody's Roundup, how he's a valuable collector's item and meeting the other toys (Jessie, Bullseye and Stinky Pete) and Buzz Lightyear teaming up with the rest of the toys to save Woody from the toy collector. The plot stays interesting, the jokes land and the ending is climactic. What else do I even need to say, this movie is amazing and an instant classic.
Kung Fu Panda (2008)
(9.0/10) Sheer awesomeness
DreamWorks has it's fair share of mediocre/bad movies but when their movies are good, they're aren't just good - they're awesome. Kung Fu Panda is a story about a panda which is a fan of the Furious Five, a group of Kung Fu masters that he is eventually united with, but they underestimate him and tell him he's not good enough. Through learning, training and finding out how to use his unique powers for the better, he manages to defeat Tai Lung and show that he is worthy of being the Dragon Warrior. Plus, the movie is a comedic riot with many jokes that land excellently and provides a good tone for the movie. Definitely a highlight of DreamWorks' movies.
One Punch Man: Wanpanman (2015)
(9.4/10) I've only seen season 1, so this is a review of that
One Punch Man season 1 is one of the best anime series I've ever seen. The concept is unique, as Saitama is so powerful that he defeats his enemies in only one punch, leading him to be bored at how easy the fights are for him. Plus, the jokes were hilarious and so were the characters. If you haven't seen this show yet and are interested in anime, do yourself a favour and watch it. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
Gekkan shôjo Nozaki-kun (2014)
(9.5/10) A hilarious anime
I watched this show dubbed and honestly, this is one of the only anime's I've ever seen where I was actually laughing out loud at most of the jokes. Comedy aside, the story is great and the characters are funny and relatable. This show would definitely benefit from a second season because some plotlines deserve to be explored further but the way it is right now, it's great.
Artemis Fowl (2020)
(1.0/10) The worst film I have ever seen.
Words can't describe how awful this movie is. You truly have to watch it yourself to see exactly how this movie fails to tell it's story well and how the characters are as expressive as a damp piece of cardboard. Avoid this movie at all costs. There are better uses of your time.
Kaze no tani no Naushika (1984)
(9.5/10) A masterpiece from Hayao Miyazaki
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is a breathtaking, engaging film with an amazing soundtrack and fantastic animation. For Miyazaki's second film, he truly outdid himself on this one. The tone is darker than some of Ghibli's other works like My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service but there's still some lighthearted moments speckled throughout the movie. Definitely Ghibli's second best film and a true masterpiece.
The Incredibles (2004)
(10/10) They don't get much better than this...
The Incredibles is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. The story is almost completely perfect and the movie explores themes that you wouldn't really expect to see in a "kids movie". That of suicide, love affairs, feeling like you're stuck in a rut at work and several others, and they handle these topics excellently. Even when I was a kid I knew this movie was awesome and watching it now, it's good in ways I didn't even know back then. If for some reason you haven't seen this movie yet, you need to drop everything and watch it as soon as you can.
Majo no takkyûbin (1989)
(9.3/10) One of Ghibli's greatest
Kiki's Delivery Service was the first Studio Ghibli movie I ever saw and it was amazing. The art style and general vibes of the movie are comforting and look astounding. The themes of burnout and depression contrasted with the light tone of the movie creates for a unique and endearing experience. The ending with the blimp crash scene seemed a bit unnecessary but it wasn't a bad ending. Overall, I highly recommend this movie. Definitely one of Ghibli's best.
Âya to majo (2020)
(1.6/10) Garbage.
I just finished watching this movie and it's genuinely one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The main character is extremely irritating and the side characters aren't any better, the animation looks hideous, the ending was laughably bad and the desperate attempts to copy attributes from other Ghibli movies just show how this movie has almost nothing of its own to show off. Don't watch this movie, it's not worth it.
2067 (2020)
(1.6/10) Crying: The Movie
The main character cries in like every scene and its very agitating. Plus the movie feels extremely flat and generic, I would highly recommend not watching this movie.
Mimi wo sumaseba (1995)
(10/10) Near perfection
I only recently started watching some of Studio Ghibli's movies and when I saw this one, I was blown away by the sheer quality present in this movie. The story, plot and overall message it puts across are amazing and the characters are all entertaining to watch. The animation is consistently great and truly shines in certain scenes. I genuinely have no criticisms of this movie aside from the ending which felt the tiniest bit rushed, but it's just a nitpick as it's still a good ending and wraps up the story in a nice way. In my opinion, it's the best movie Ghibli has ever made (which is saying a lot as they have quite a few good ones) and it's #3 in my top 25 movies of all time. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet, you'll most likely enjoy it too.
Cars 3 (2017)
(6.8/10) Definitely better than Cars 2, but not as good as the original
After the disastrous trainwreck known as Cars 2, I didn't really have any hope for this movie, but I was happy to hear that they were going back to the racing side of Cars. Cars 3 is the finale of the Cars series and it does tie up the franchise in a positive way, but it's not perfect. Some scenes do drag on for too long, the jokes don't land all the time and I'm still quite confused as to how Smokey (Doc Hudson's trainer) outlived Doc, but aside from that, the movie is good and it's nice to see that Pixar decided to end the series on a high note. If you like the first Cars movie and wanted to see how it's story continues, I'd recommend watching Cars 3.
Cars 2 (2011)
(2.2/10) Boring, infuriating and overall a waste of time.
This movie is one of the worst sequels I have ever seen. As someone who actually enjoyed the original Cars movie, this movie feels like a worthless side story with nothing to add to the main storyline. For some reason they decided to make Tow Mater the main character and he gets extremely annoying throughout the movie. This is hands down the worst Pixar movie and I hope they never stoop this low again.
Cars (2006)
(8.4/10) A classic
I rewatched Cars a few days ago and I honestly thought it was great. Sure, the concept of talking cars performing tasks that humans usually do is a bit weird but it didn't distract from the message that the film portrays. Lightning McQueen starts off the movie as an overconfident celebrity who thinks he's better than everyone else and eventually learns how to slow down and enjoy life. I do think this movie gets a little too much hate but if you didn't enjoy it, then its fine.
