something brought this film to my mind today..and i can still remember seeing it when i was child..a long,long time ago. i remember the ending and how moved i was as an eight year old and to this day i still feel that choked up feeling when i think of it..i have never caught it on any tv movie chanel..

after friends sang the praises of this film..i ran out to catch it..it was too long,heavy handed..yes,there were a few good scenes,notably the nude film shoot..but the sister and husband were so very boring..instead of a circumcision plan i wanted to cut there heads off..terrance stamp, handsome..but he did not give his part and chemistry..

after making a special effort to get to see this movie..i was so disappointed..attracted by merchant,naipul, and trinadad..what a letdown..slow,dull, with a story that went nowhere..it definitely a film to miss

ho hum..another gal finding sex in soho..the truth is that most bored rich housewives will not find that exciting frenchman,,no, more likely..that the affair will take place with someone elses boring husband..or if not that,,the gardener,plumber or maybe with luck they can even find the electrician..the film had good performances but evoked little sympathy for anyone but the madly in love husband..

Les Destinées (2000)

after eagerly seeking out this film, i found myself totally bored..it was too long,had no movement..although very beautiful..but the beauty wore thin after 40 minutes..performances ok...but in the end dull,dull, dull..lots of pottery but not much else..

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

my husband and i saw the tenenbaums new year's eve..we thought it was the worst movie we'd seen all year..when we left the theater there were manypockets of people ,all of whom were echoing ur feelings..i've spoken to many people since then,including students of film..who thought it was flat,boring,inane,pointless, and without any humor or pathos..a waste of talent..so where did we go wrong??????????????????
