Rome in Love (2019)
Sweet
Without too many (high) expectations I started watching this film but how sweet it was!
I actually enjoyed the acting (all right, some of the non Italian actors pretending to be Italian weren't too great...) the story and the sights.
Of course it's not the best movie ever but all in all it was a lovely romcom that I would actually recommend.
The Salzburg Story (2018)
Don't bother...
I couldn't finish watching this (not in a positive way). The way they portray this story is immensely boring which is also quite strange since everything happens in a split second (two minutes in and they've know each other for weeks...?!) and unfortunately the acting is quite poor.
So I've actually stopped watching (after watching a mere third of the movie), which is something I (almost) never do!
Coming Home for Christmas (2017)
Lovely Christmas movie
Finally a nice Christmas film! I've been watching a fair few the last couple of weeks to get into the spirit of Christmas but this is the first one this year that I actually really enjoyed!
As with all Christmas movies, it was predictable, but this one really got the Christmas feel across. Trees, ornaments, snow. A sweet love story. People becoming a whole lot friendlier because of a chatty little character.
This one to me really was a lovely Christmas flick with all the right ingredients (and the occasional cringy acting). Definitely worth your while!
Christmas Wedding Planner (2017)
Christmas bore
The movie is still playing but it is just so boring. The acting is, at moments, cringeworthy (the baker for example). Not much Christmas about the story either (apart from a wedding set around this time of year).
Bad wedding planner, bad PI, bad (elaboration of a) Christmas story.
And seriously, the things after the 'I love you' really come out of the blue!
It makes no sense whatsoever, it's ridiculous even, because there is no spark to be seen between the actors.
(End of movie.)
Christmas with a View (2018)
Not a good view...
One of the things that sprang to mind halfway through this film was: they must have wanted a 'big' name attached to this movie (Vivica A. Fox) but it was an absolutely supervacaneous role. In my opinion, this whole film was actually dispensable. There's nothing really right about it, I don't feel.
The acting is so so.
The story is quite lame and could've pretty much been set at any time of the year so it's not so much a Christmas movie (apart from the fact that they have Christmas trees in it). There's no family feel (a hugely important part when it comes to Christmas flix for me), the girl always wants to get away from her mom (that's why Fox's role is so redundant) to get to work...
And honestly, I don't quite get the title either. But that may be me...
The Holiday Calendar (2018)
Nice little Christmas flick
I think nice is the operative word here. This movie isn't great or awful, it's just nice to watch if you're into these predictably sweet movies.
Because it is, as most of these movies are, predictable from the very first minute. So no need to write down any spoilers, you'll find out soon enough if you decide to watch this movie.
The acting a little cringeworthy at times, but I believe that has to do with the storyline and choices in directing and not per se because of the lack of acting talent.
The Christmas Consultant (2012)
This is not a good Christmas present...
One of the worst Christmas movies ever (and I've seen my fair share...)! The acting is truly horrendous and the singing... Oy vey! I really do appreciate a good Christmas flick and even ones that are really not all that good too. Just because it's that time of year :) The story idea in itself isn't even that bad but the execution of this movie is unfortunately cringeworthy... Not for one moment do I believe the two main characters in their acting. The 'meltdown' was a complete laughing stock (although, it was too stupid to even laugh...). All in all, they really should've kept this one to themselves... If this movie was a Christmas present, I wouldn't be a happy bunny.
