Middle Men (2009)
Seriously underrated, action/comedy/drama
A movie about family values, about vices and how people succumb to them, a movie about money and power and the fact that there's never "enough".
A beautifully crafted piece of work that keeps you in pretty much throughout. Performance is great from Luke Wilson and the story goes seamless.
One little, probably needless, piece of action that I didn't quite understand why it was there, is the confusion at the end with Russian mafia taking the wrong "thing", but it's probably just me and it's not that bad anyway.
Definitely deserves more than the actual 6.7 it's got. Also recommend "Limitless" and "Fracture".
Valkyrie (2008)
Should be regarded as the most realistic action film.
I just felt I needed to contribute with my little to straighten out this wrong of giving this movie a rating under 8.
It deserves more than that. It is natural and realistic and an awful lot based on the facts, but all this in an adrenalinic pack. Tom Cruise is just good and the other cast is really amazing. The "culmination" moments are all over the second part of the movie and I really didn't want it to end, perhaps because I was expecting things to go wrong.
I found the editing notable and the way the movie started, not only visually, but plot-wise totally drew me in.
Finally, I perceived the movie as a entertainingly taught history lecture. I enjoyed it so much.
Avatar (2009)
it inspired me so much..
I had a considerable amount of reservation in m y mind before going to this movie. The cause consisted in enough good movies this year already (the same District 9 etc.) and thought that it might very well be another kind of a Terminator 4 like CG movie with no real spark behind or worse yet - some kind of 2012 (sorry - this is a failed movie despite the spectacular effects). I had it before entering the cinema and exactly before the movie started. Then it all disappeared. It got me sooo much that I watched it twice in the theater, ad perhaps will go to watch some more.
Another one of those few that should never be forgotten. Spectacular, out of the box thinking, super 3d stunning sound.
I would tend to think this one is the winner of all times.
Thank you James.
District 9 (2009)
Profound. Breathtaking. Flawless.
I've seen many good movies lately, with a breath-taking effect and with well written stories. I've seen them many but I never lived one myself.
Not until today.
Watching District 9 turned out to be more than enjoying a show at the cinema. More than making your heart pump the blood times faster. Even more than believing what you see. Watching District 9 means living it to the point where you have no doubt that what is happening there is an absolute imminent reality, even though you never saw an alien before. And this is just the beginning -- what really makes your stomach freeze is the idea that while you hate those people in the movie, you realize that they're so much like you. At times the movie might be depressing, but the counterweight of this, which is much more important, is its purpose: to make you think.
Thumbs up, hats down, amazing work, beautiful actors, perfect screenplay, I love this movie.

War of the Worlds (2005)
I just don't understand. And I'm frightened.
..of the fact that this movie only has a 6.6 score at the moment. I don't understand what is not to like in this movie.
It took me right in there with it, from the beginning and till the end I was just amazed, frightened and full of adrenaline. For the first time. Then, for the second time when I watched it after more than a year -- now. This spectacular movie is, for me, of epic sentimental proportions, and the magnificent effects are just as good (but really good) as the emotional load of the movie and just as good as the little Rachel's playing.
All the respect for Mr. Spielberg. 9.99 which makes it a good 10.
