The Two Coreys (2007–2008)

Two Coreys Too Many!
2 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
It's interesting that Corey Fedlman and Corey Haim do all right for themselves when separate, but put them together and there's trouble. They come across as has-beens who can't or won't accept the fact that their moment in the sun has long ago set. The end result is "The Two Coreys", which should be renamed "The Two Losers". It may sound harsh, but sometimes the truth can be very harsh.

Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, wherever you are, stop living in the past. For better and worse, what you did then you did then. Move on, go your separate ways, do separate things, establish names for yourselves as adult performers, not former child stars who live in the past. You will be a lot more successful and develop greater self-respect!!!

Good Meal, Bad Dessert!
17 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a classic case of how a good storyline (about a loser who can not or will not overcome his personal flaws) is ruined by an "everything will work out if you let it" ending.

You get the feeling the producers did not feel the audience had the maturity to accept a less-than-pleasant finale'.

This is disappointing, but not unusual. During the time period, "feel good" family movies were the rule rather than the exception. It was very rare to see a family film that didn't have some sort of sugary-sweet happy ending. It was that mentality the nearly ruined the Disney industry.

You make sense of it!

Terrific Tribe
15 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the earlier seasons of this show, it gave you a feeling of exactly what would happen to the human race if such a pandemic did break out. It makes sense - once the panic subsided, people would group together for their own protection. Leaders would emerge, society would start to rebuild itself. Regretfully, the later episodes started placing too much emphasis on science fiction. I mean, think of it. Virtual reality to the infinite power? Zapper ray guns? Come on. It would have been better not to introduce the technos but instead concentrate on the developing communities in the city. I noticed another problem - too many characters seemed to disappear too quickly. I heard a rumor that there were problems on the set with egos. Little children, behave yourselves!!!

T'Was the Best of Star Trek, T'Was the Worst of Star Trek
13 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Star Trek - The Motion Picture will probably be known as the most controversial of all the Star Trek movies that have or will ever be created. There seems to be little middle ground, you either like it or hate it. As a Star Trek fan (and proud of it!) I should have liked it, but did not. It came across as a re-telling of one of the animated episodes from the mid-seventies (it's true! I forget the episode's name, but it involved the same type of plot!). The characters seemed too wooden, too serious, even their uniforms had a "blaaaa" feeling to them. There were instances when the camera seemed to jiggle a little when switching scenes, giving the movie a "rush order" feeling. Of course, other Star Trek fans felt and still feel differently. Some look upon it as THE Star Trek film, the best ever created! All in all, I would have to say it was flawed. Like the first Dune movie (back in 1984-1985), it was aimed at a pre-existing fan base instead on John Q. Public. If you liked Dune, you liked the movie. If you didn't, forget it! LIVE LONG AND PROSER, FELLOW TREKKERS, TREKKIES, AND TREK WHAT-HAVE-YOUS!!!

Smothers Brothers - Myth vs. Fact
31 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The myth of the The Smothers Brothers Show is that is was ultra-popular and let go by CBS because the Smothers brothers refused to cave in to network censors.

In reality, the Smothers Brothers were NOT that popular a show. They started out popular, but as they became more and more involved with controversy and they started losing their fan base to NBC's Bonanza. By the time CBS let them go, they were no longer pulling in the ratings and were replaced by what proved to be the mega popular Hee Haw.

Ironically, two years later CBS dumped ALL its country-western comedy shows, despite their popularity, and brought in real-world shows, the most popular of which was "All in the Family" which approached subjects the Smothers Brothers never dared touch!
