Slay (2024)
Slay, it's actually a really good movie
Plot: Drag Queens (played by Heidi, Crystal Methyd, Trinity the Tuck, and Cara Melle) book the wrong venue and end up performing at a biker bar. A vampire attack ensue and they have to save themselves from getting infected or getting killed.
Non-spoiler review: It's surprisingly enjoyable. The jokes mostly land and are LESS cringe than most modern acting challenges from Drag Race. The acting is good and not extra. There is a storyline and character arcs. The gore and budget are honestly decent to good. My only criticism would be the pacing or the way the scenes are put together, but it's a minor flaw or maybe depends on your tastes. The soundtrack is better than the lipsync songs on Season 16.
Spoiler review: Don't read if you don't want to get spoiled.
CRYSTAL METHYD DIES!!!
Well she comes back as a vampire but it's still a pretty sad moment and at least her coming back as a vampire makes sense with the plot so I'll let that slide.
The two main storylines are basically the bikers having to get over their homophobia while teaming up with the Drag Queens to fight the vampires, and the other is Trinity and Cara both wanting to lead the team and butting heads over it. While the homophobia is a bit on the nose sometimes, it is well done and not just a magic switch off from homophobia to ally.
The storyline between Cara and Trinity is actually compelling. There is a building up and a pay off in that Cara is the rebellious one and Trinity is a stickler to the rules who wants to mother everyone. This result in Trinity telling Cara to be the bodyguard for Crystal and her friend, but Cara disagrees because she is the best fighter of the group and should not just be a babysitter. So Cara goes out to get their mobile home running, resulting in a vampire crawling in, attacking Crystal and her friend, and STABBING CRYSTAL, KILLING HER BECAUSE SHE HAS NO PADDING!!!
The scene was actually sad. Maybe you expected these characters to survive. Which Crystal does but still, her dead body is in the middle of the room for a good chunk of the movie until she comes back as a good vampire.
Sheila is MOTHER and one of the best characters of the movie. Her fake breast get staked and she brushes it off.
The other secondary storylines are cute too, Heidi gets a man, Crystal has a friend, the Drag Queens help one of the bikers discovering he is a Drag Queen.
Cara Melle was the smartest character of the movie IMO with the best acting with Trinity. She ends up putting garlic inside the water of the building and triggers the fire sprinklers on the ceiling to weaken the vampires while the others stake them.
I honestly recommend you to watch this movie if you're into horror, gay movies, or just want to support the girls.
RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under: Drag Family Makeover (2022)
Great episode from start to finish
A very solid episode with some shady banter, cute and emotional moments, a rather strong lipsync, a deserving winner, and a well done challenge with a nice idea. Maybe the runway looks could have been better, but the worst was still the swimsuit one. Kween Kong obviously deserved to win.
So far, this season is a huge step up compared to the first season.
Also, Who Is She is one of Ru's best songs, so I'm glad it will be used for the finale.
Can't wait to see the eliminated girls come back.
Any of the top three girls could win, I'm fine with it.
Congrats on the improvement for the second season, Rupaul.
RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under: Grand Opening (2022)
Hurtful First Elimination
Honestly, Faux Fur is just so charming and adorable and had a cute outfit. It feels kinda unfair that she was in the bottom for something that she didn't even sew when it was a sewing challenge.
The cast is better and the editing is cute but the fact is that there are only two POCs, one of them is already gone...
I'm not asking for Faux Fur to come back like Art, but if we could have a decent return challenge for to return though.
Canada's Drag Race: Ruets (2022)
Interesting Judging
After the messy judging of the finale of AS7, I guess it's not as bad. BUT, Kimmy and Lady Boom Boom were clearly the best and would've won if production didn't want to spread the wins, which I can understand.
Kimmy and LBB being the first Queens with two wins by episode 3 would've been fierce though and legit.
Anyway, Gisèle had the best runway besides Kimmy, so I was a little surprised when Jada won. I do like Jada so good for her, but Gisèle had a better runway and a better performance than Jada who relied on humor.
Glad to see that Miss Fierce is staying since she is the main source of drama and is not as bad as she is told to be.
Hope the fans can learn that it is just a tv show and don't send hate to any of them.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Lip Sync LaLaPaRuza Smackdown (2022)
I Guess the Lipsyncs didn't Matter
The cast did great. HOWEVER, it was pretty clear that the lipsyncs were here to entertain but were not judged at all.
Jaida beat Raja, Yvie beat Raja, Trinity beat Monet...
Honestly, they might as well do a Rusical or something else, because it was clear who won each lipsync but it did not matter in the end...
Jaida, Queen of constantly being Robbed in favor of production favorites.
I guess that Ru wore Aiden Zhane's lenses during the lipsyncs...
American Horror Stories: Dollhouse (2022)
It was actually good!
No lie, I didn't like the first season a lot. However, this first episode was much better than the first season as a whole.
Both the protagonist and the antagonists had reasons and motivations which were understandable but still allowed you to root for the protagonist.
The reveal twist that the episode is tied to Coven was expected but I really wanted the Coven tie to happen, so I was really happy about it.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Drag Race Gives Back Variety Extravaganza (2022)
I Guess they Had to Find a Way to Mess Up...
All I will say is that I am happy that Raja, Yvie, the Viv, and Queen Jaida got their own lipsync smackdown. Not gonna lie, I am more looking forward to this lipsync than the actual lipsync for the crown because of the twist and the lackluster lipsyncs.
#TeamJaida all the way. Production has been disregarding her, hope they at least give her some good lipsync songs that are not Rupaul's songs.
Drag Race France: French Ball (2022)
Oui Oui Baguette!
Honestly sad for the eliminated Queen, I thought La Briochée did a decent job, but I can understand why she was in the bottom. Gonna miss her though.
So many great looks too! It will be hard to list all of them but: Elips's rainbow, Paloma's breakfast head, Kam's three looks, LGD's Woman in Black, Lolila's Gilet Jaune dress...
Drag Race France: Bonjour, Bonjour, Bonjour (2022)
Positve Surprise!
I did not expect the Season to start on such a high note but everyone did good or great.
Great looks, talent, and shiny personalities!
C'mon France!
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: Legendary Legend Looks (2022)
LOVE THE WINNER!
What a tremendous cast; but honestly, Jaida Essence HALL THE ESSENCE OF BEAUTY!
So happy that the winner of the cursed season is now the frontrunner. Such a talented and gorgeous sweetheart.
Drag Race España: Llévame al cielo - La final (2022)
JURIJI!!!
I was shocked when Venedita and Sharonne started making love on stage until Sharonne gave birth to Juriji.
Overall, Jota, Juriji, and Venedita had the best looks (I liked Onyx but I thought it was like Alien wearing a ballgown)
So glad that Sharonne and Juriji had a double crowning. Can't wait to see Venedita slay Mars vs The World coming next February to our screens.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars: The Realness of Fortune Ball (2022)
Oh my GOD! What a Satisfying Episode
Jaida finally getting her moment makes so happy since she's my fav from the cast. Such a goofy, beautiful, and talented Queen.
Honestly, nobody did bad at the Ball, but Jaida carried from the Werkroom antics to the challenge to the lip sync.
What a wonderful season in all honesty. #TeamJaida.
Drag Race España: Drags de la comedia (2022)
Very Strong Episode!
Crushing elimination ( #TeamJuriji)
BUT
The best lip sync and sexiest lip sync we ever got (could've been a double shantay)
Great runways
Nobody did bad at the roast.
It sucks that Season 14 had so many non-elimination episode, which they gave some to Espana Season 2.
Drag Race España: ¡Vente a España! (2022)
JURIJI DER KLEE!
Maybe she's the villain, maybe she's the hero.
All I know is that the girl brings entertainment, beauty, and talent and I love her for it.
So glad to see her being on the top again, although I would love to see her get a win.
Drag Race España: Snatch Game (2022)
My favorite episode so Far
So glad to see Juriji doing good and getting appreciated by the judges!
My favorite runway too so far and finally a clean lip sync!
Although I would've given the win to Juriji, Sharonne still did the best IMO.
