Zombieverse (2023)
Great show extremely hilarious and exciting
The show was so mazing and sooo hilarious. I love the idea and everything is so well thought of and executed. But I have to say this.... PATRICIA WHAT THE HELL... pls stop. I have never seen a more useless contestant in my life!!! She was never helpful with anything and such a liability! She should've gotten out like her brother. The show was already a bit sexist in the way men treated women as kind of incapable little things - thank God subleader was a badass - but Patricia just perpetuated this image unfortunately. She didn't even try! If you can't move or be helpful with anything why are you even there. Even Hong Chul contributed to the group somehow if nothing then as a provider of comic relief. Man.... I loved the show but Patricia really pissed me off.
The Mist (2017)
Decent series but the daughter's acting is terrible
The show isn't a masterpiece but it is definitely enjoyable and keeps you wondering with some good characters. I really wished there was a 2nd season so we could actually find out what caused it etc. I have to say the thing that annoyed me the most is how incredibly TERRIBLE the daughter's acting is! Who casted this girl? She is either emotionless or completely overacting with her facial expressions, and her voice and talking style is as if she is tipsy 24/7. I have been noticing since the first minute of Episode 1 and it's getting progressively more annoying. She must be related to some producer to be casted in this role... It's ruining the entire series for me. ALSO is this character written to be so annoying on purpose because who would think "is something wrong with me" when you don't die a painful death by a monster because it spares you. You would wonder why but you wouldn't ask "why didn't it want me" lol.
Imawa no Kuni no Arisu (2020)
Extremely misogynistic and overdramatized
The story's not bad at all. It's kind of a more violent version of Squid Games. I love the apocalyptic/parallel universe aspect. BUT, they are milking some scenes and emotional situations WAY too much. Though I would have still rated it 7 if it wasn't so incredibly misogynistic. The "strong" female characters are always somehow reduced to useless degrading moments. For example, Usagi is this strong athletic badass, but somehow can't fight the semi-dying sickly r*pist. I mean come on, how many times did that guy try to r*pe her? The r*pe attempts are just used to objectify her and serve the male gaze. Who still shoots those scenes anyway? Moreover, Arisu is constantly portrayed as her protector although he wouldn't have lasted a day without her. Other women in the show that come up as enemies are also portrayed somewhat weak and less important than their male counterparts.
Overall, I would prefer Squid Games. It's not nearly as sexist and also the story doesn't get too distracted by overdramatized lengthy scenes.
Shameless (2011)
LAZY FINALE
The writes didn't give us anything. We rooted for the Gallaghers for season after season... and here we are after 11 seasons, and with still absolutely nothing. Constant ruined opportunities, always one step forward and two steps back. I get that we are watching them living a hard life, but it leaves you wondering what the whole point to their story even was. The social issues they are pointing out are prevalent in the US and I am here for it BUT running in circles for seasons after seasons to make a point is just lazy writing!! I really assumed that the finale would be all about the characters finally moving on and starting a somewhat new life where they could appreciate their past but also be able to welcome new beginnings. But no. The writers didn't even give us that much. Not even Fiona showing for a minute. Investing in 11 seasons worth of time just to end it with no closure, running in circles and struggling in the same mud. Just lazy writing for the sake of repetitive and humorless social criticism.
The Midnight Club (2022)
I'm loving it
Brilliant. You won't love the Ilonka character but you have to remember that this girl is a teen, and kinda realistic when you think about how stupid we all were as teens. Plus the characters in the group are all amazing. It has that Flanagan touch you would find in Hillhouse. It's about friendship, family, and love all the while surrounded by death and the supernatural. This was definitely way better than Bly Manor. I really hope thay Netflix renews this show for multiple seasons as it is intended. It would be a waste otherwise. Plus I've never seen anything from Flanagan that's longer than a season so I am super curious about how the story will turn out. I also really did anjoy the short stories within the series.
The Society (2019)
Please
Bring it baaaaack Netflix. It is one of the best shows I've seen in years. I was completely hooked and then found out the second season was cancelled although it has an extensive fan base.
Interceptor (2022)
Why can't men be weak?
It's so funny how men have zero problems with the movies where every single woman is portrayed 'weak and useless' 'either awful or incapable' and men 'reign supreme' (quoting some of the comments here), but they're incredibly offended when it's the other way around. Think about it.
This movie is not any worse than any of those cheesy unrealistic action movies you watch with male heroes. Better than any generic Tom Cruise movie out there. It was perfectly exciting, just not super realistic from a technical point of view and yeah acting's a bit weak, but hey what's new. Does it deserve such outrage? Absolutely not! Men need to stop being histerical. Welcome to our world.
Time Is Up (2021)
Couldn't be worse
Wow. Where do I begin? The extremely tastless music? The inchorecency? Dreadful acting? Aweful sound quality? This movie seems to lack any personality whatsoever. I normally finish every movie I start no matter how bad, but I gave up on this after 20 minutes. Skip it.
The In Between (2022)
A total eye-roll from the beginning to end
Could this story get any more cliché? The guy is the most perfect man in the world (come on!), girl is so intelligent and cultured that she cannot shut up about Anna Karenina, Tolstoy blah blah on the first encounter, and guess what he is literally the only man that matches her extremely cultivated level judging by her mesmerized reactions. How forced and overdone was this whole aspect of sophistication? They even mention later in the in the film that she is so above her age. The guy understands her so much that he can see all the allegory behind all of her photos. The only problem areas in their relationship is literally tied to how perfect and caring he is about his family etc. Seriously, is there anything real about this couple? Literally nothing about their time together made me excited before the accident. I thought maybe it would be a nice ghost story after, but rather, it left me wondering what the point even was. What was his goal bringing her to the place of the accident? To let her know that she said I love you back, which she would eventually remember? Spend some time together to say goodbye? What did that lead to? Did she wake up with a total clarity to live a happy life and forget about him? I don't think so. To sum up, we are left off with a story lacking a climax.
