Hornets' Nest (1970)
Rock Hudson Destroys Nazis
Video game worthy.
Satisfying bad guy head count.
Hudson would have made a great American James Bond.
Dedicated hard work by both Hudson and the young supporting cast members.
Sincere and believable acting by Sylvia Koscina as a German medic torn between aiding the sick vs sabotaging the good guys.
Needs editing for general audience.
Attempted revenge rape scene, however, an understandable emotional response from a survivor of a family massacre by the Nazis.
Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971)
Useful for serial killer monologue only
Hudson put his soul into the psychotic coach character. The movie needs editing to be studied by a general audience or acting class. Would have been possible to feel compassion for the coach if no murders ocurred and no nudity of ugly flat chested females was displayed in open view. It was grotesque. The monologue scene of the coach reading Moliere's Don Juan to the students was useful to an acting student and also the closing scene of the movie of the coach revealing his abnormal beliefs and the reason for the murder of the "Jill," character. Both scenes give a chilling portrayal of a calculating murderer as well as a split personality. Gene Roddenberry frequently references Don Juan in Star Trek the original series. The script may be a reflection of his personal beliefs about fidelity.
