Shin Gojira (2016)
Would've been better off named SHINOCCHIO
I'm convinced that the people rating this movie as a "good movie", know nothing about life except how to sit behind a computer all day and where a tinfoil hat wearing black nail polish with black lipstick and piercings all over their body dressed in either Drag or Goth clothes with a button on the back that says 'Kick me, I voted for Joe Biden'.... This movie was a disaster, murder, suicide and assassination as its good points for the story and plot. It made no sense even to the dead! As a child, I grew up with the sci-fi genre monster movies like King Kong, Godzilla, Gamera, etc... This one however was more of a anything you can do, I can do better for even the most horrible of monster movies! If you are looking to watch a good or descent movie, not even this will qualify for B rating. Again, the high rating are a result of fanboy proud, defending the honor of a train wreck that has assassinated even the intelligence of the clueless!! This is just a bad movie!
Rosemont (2015)
Nothing but Roses for a Christmas at The Rosemont
A young pregnant girl with no where to turn, a snowboarder with hopes and dreams, a heartbroken & torn lodge owner and a family friend with issues of his own whom helps to maintain a lodge shut down for 20 years all meet up in the most unusual and impossible of ways. This is an absolute winner of an out of the ordinary bunch in how they meet up and unfold in the perfect storm of broken hearts, hopeful dreams, redemptive souls, and 2nd chances, to find the true spirit of togetherness in the middle of a blizzard of a dispirited and once storied lodge about the Christmas holiday. I can't say anymore except the wonderful performances and compliments of all 4 characters as making this to be a Christmas movie to watch for generations to come! You will Enjoy this one if you truly believe in Phoenix rising and where willing souls come together to heal and overcome differences and their pasts!
La Brea (2021)
Glimmer of hope with an aborted letdown
Upon watching the initial season of this series, there was a hope of being led to a fantastical sense of possibilities, only to be let down by the realities of multiple subplot sarcasms which led to no where. Where can I begin? If you leave the tangential sarcastic sub plots out, the political correctness (saw right through that one) out, the love triangle soap operatic out, and the fantastical scientific sarcasms out, the multi-mood pendulous characters out, with a responsible director and writer in, you have the makings of a series that should've stayed in 10k BC, rather than transitional back and forth to justify on the spot whimsical sub-plotting and wishful thinking. About the only characters consistent were the terminal psychiatrist named Ty, The doctor named Sam, and at times the budding young anthropologist named Scott. I was hoping for a Land of the Lost for adults, and they give a literal Land of the Lost for kids. The characters seemed so out of their initial characters at times, that it was often difficult to determine who is the bad guy and who is the good guy, with so many trivial subplots taking you away from the general story and direction that left you at times indecisive (As many of the commentary here with 'Still watching hoping that something will change to make it meaningful'). Not a hard critic at all, just don't insult my intelligence, and don't be tangential with sarcastic sub plots... Like the killer Bee's, differing tribes, and opening up portals in areas unrelated to the general story, going back to the Jurassic, and so many more.... Too bad!
The Christmas Card (2006)
The good guy does get the girl and so much more than he bargained for
After a military tour and life altering mishap in Afghanistan, Sergeant Cody Cullen is given mandatory leave to search out his options to find out what's next. Taking a chance on a card he anonymously received during his stint, he ventures back to inquire about the family and town where the card came from. During his stay fate intervene's as he magically comes across the woman whom has sent the card and is smitten as he confronts her swiping some of his meal unbeknownst to the both of them. I will leave the rest to you should you happen to view this wonderful holiday special filled with joy, romance, love and happiness as well as some twists for this holiday season. This movie was not one of these over the top holiday romance harlequins as you so often see repetitively with Life Time or Hallmark or any other holiday television stations. It's a wonderful movie in which I would recommend for any or all to see. Even family can watch without parents fear of suggestive raciness or lewd inuendo's so often with seen with today's movies. This is a winner with it's own right, and I'm a guy. A holiday movie which will become a hopeful classic for years to come.
A Christmas Tree Miracle (2013)
'David George, the man with two first names!'
An incredible breath of fresh air around the holidays or for Christmas in July. A story of a phoenix rising with hope from the ashes of ruin. A family going from outward wealth and a haughty heart to the humbling reality of despair and everyday challenges of basic needs till one day crossing paths with an unsuspecting stranger at the least likely of times whom shows them that there is more to life than just the outward wants and opportunities the world offers. A stranger who embodies the true spirit of giving, not just around the holidays but for all seasons. Usually most holiday movies are of romance and achievements of outward pursuits, but this is a must movie for true spirit of heart seekers of what sharing and caring blindly are at its very core. Terry Kaiser's plays an open minded kind hearted tree hatchery farmer whos sad but hidden life altering consequence shows us the true meaning of abasing and blind love. Kevin Sizemore plays an ambitious naive father whom is oblivious to his families true needs until a life humbling reality hits him and affects his home yet remaining penitent of what lies ahead. Siomha Kenny plays Sizemore's youngest daughter in this epic Christmas drama where the biggest of all pure heart's of true faith and humility really do come in the smallest of packages. Claudia Esposito play's aside Kevin Sizemore as his faithful and persevering wife whom looks past the despair and keeps the family humble and honest enduring trying times. These strangers unexpectedly meet up via the faith of a little girl coincidentally, but not on a Sunday as you might otherwise think. As the two entities befriend one another they manage to work things out in spite of differences as well as come to terms with whom they are for the greater good. There is every type of virtue and value to be had, as well as good wholesome innocent viewing for the entire family. Would recommend this with my eyes closed. This is a winner of the heart and one Christmas movie for the ages. 10 stars + 2.
