I Love You to Death (2012)
what.
This movie is wack. I am not exaggerating when i say this is the single weirdest movie i've ever seen. There are ways to keep the audience in the dark about key details, but this movie doesn't exactly nail that. I think it's supposed to be artistic and different but it just ends up being stiff and unnatural. I thought near the end there was gonna be a good message about overcoming grief but then they undermine the whole thing by having the main character succumb to it anyway. The ending makes no sense narratively unless you take into account the narrative itself makes no sense.
Most of the movie is shot like a reality tv show, which could make sense in other contexts but most definitely not in this one. The sound effects that are supposed to build tension end up dissolving it by sounding out of place and straight from a generic soundboard.
The dialogue is meant to be thought provoking and profound but ends up being heavy-handed.
The subplot did not add much besides some extra backstory to Lily and Clay's marriage, which could have been presented in a different and more efficient way than two guys arguing with each other for twenty minutes.
With all that being said, i did like the sound track and i think it didn't pretty well capturing the vibes of the scene.
