Old Dogs (I) (2009)

Painfully Un-funny - waste of talent - awful
12 August 2010
I finally sat down to watch Old Dogs last night just to see if it was as bad as I had heard. Without giving anything away, its like watching the worst sitcom you have ever seen - but with really good talent who have the comedic timing - and what you get is a series of disconnected sight gags that begin and end - then reset - and on to the next sight gag. Like an endless series of fart jokes. A few of the gags taken on their own are cute or might bring a chuckle - most were gross or downright mean. I can't understand why in the world would John Travolta and Robin Williams who have a ton of talent, be associated with such a stinker. I watched this movie free on Netflix and I still payed too much.

What a strange flick !
12 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This movie could have been great .. but lost its way at about 20 minutes into the film. As soon as I saw Kathy Bates cast as a hawkish Defense Sec. - I knew we were in trouble - then the kid .. The character really adds no value to the story except for maybe giving Klaatu one more reason to take out humanity. And poor (cartoonish CGI) Gort - seemed to be an after thought. All in all - this movie needed to be reined in - they tried too hard to be PC and missed out on being a good movie.

Whats odd .. as much as this movie annoys me to the core of my being - I can't seem to stop watching it on cable .. kind of like seeing a bad accident on the side of the road.

The original 1951 didn't need a remake - especially to push an agenda.

Great Concept .. very bad movie
20 May 2007
I rented this movie tonight because it looked like a fun movie. I figured that you really couldn't go wrong with a concept of Ex Girlfriend with super powers.

... but the movie was confused and pointless ...

it seemed that at every turn the writer kept throwing junk in. Also the writer kept throwing in way too much toilet humor and sexual situations that only a teenage boy could love.

It seems that it could have been so simple to draw a story out of Fatal Attraction Super hero .. but I guess not.

This is not a fun romantic comedy it was advertised to be. You could not take a child to see it and you would be embarrassed seeing it a date.

If the writer could have done a basic story around the high concept and cleaned it up - the movie might have a fighting chance.

A serious waste of time.
