The Woman in Black (1989)
Did I see the same film?????
I'd heard about this movie a while ago from a friend and she recently got it on DVD. There was a lot of anticipation and excitement as we'd both heard that this was a terrifying film, really scary. How disappointed was I?? VERY!!!! Apart from that one scene (we all know which bit) NOTHING happened!!! I was expecting to see the woman in black a few times and for her to do a few more jumpy scenes, like appear at the window or walk across the hall or something.
Nearly all the reviews here say what a scary, gripping, atmospheric movie this is. I just didn't see it I'm afraid. Maybe there's a difference in what people find scary in the US to here in Britain.
A big let down after all the hyped reviews :(
Van Helsing (2004)
Jesus Wept!!!!
If he'd seen this movie he may well have!! This was absolutely appauling. I cant remember actually wanting to leave the cinema so badly before in my life. Way to much CG, which was very patchy at best, and just a rubbish storyline that really went nowhere. The acting was mediocre and Dracula's brides were quite hot. But thats the only positive I took from this film.
They should have just halved the budget, made a real decent film full of gore and bumped the certificate up. Making it a 12A was such a bad idea.
I beg you to save your cash and dont bother going to see this God awful movie. In my bottom 5 films for sure.
Die Another Day (2002)
Be prepared.....
Yep, be prepared to be totally blown away!!!! Absolutely non-stop action, adventure, stunts. It's utterly amazing!!! Brosnan is awesome as 007 in this movie, and both of the female leads are stunning (and the lucky git beds them both ;P) I'm not gonna go into any of the movie as it would take far too long. This film is very sexually charged, with lots of great one-liners and plenty of flirting.
Overall a fantastic movie and one of the best Bond films about. See it now!!!
Dr. No (1962)
It's really not that bad.
Id read a few reviews on here before I watched it, but I quite enjoyed it. It is just the starting point to the best series of films...EVER! It's a bit slow, but the story is there and it's interesting. I will admit however, that the final battle is a bit of a letdown, but I suppose in 1962 it was up to speed. It's not so much the action and the stunts, but the plot thats the main thing. And during some of the later films this is lost I feel.
So basically, its a good starting point for the rest of the series. I'll give it a 6/10, purely for the storyline.
They Nest (2000)
Another stupid b-movie
Right, where do I start? This movie has to be seen to be believed how bad it is.
**SPOILER** The actors in this were so wooden and so amateur. They didn't even look like they were enjoying it. No effort was put in for the special effects, the ending was so ficticious and crap. I mean would that "lake of fire" kill every single one of those beasts, except one?! And the fact that the sheriff was still alive after the queen bug thing slithered down his throat!!!! It was just s***e I'm afraid. Again it still puzzles me how a movie this bad can be made and then shown to the public. I truly believe that me, my mates and a video camera could do better.
If you haven't seen this film, the please don't waste your time. I could have been doing something much more constructive such as watching paint dry, watching grass grow or generally doing anything. I also believe that being stabbed would be less painful than watching this pile of s***e.
King Cobra (1999)
Managed to watch all of it!
This film is bad, but I did have to watch it all just to see what it was like. The acting was atrocious and as for Mr Myagi (Karate Kid) making a cameo, that was ridiculous. All you saw was shots from the snakes point of view which so obviously just a man walking through the forest with a camera! Why oh why, is there so many crappy monster films about nowadays? EG:-Bug Buster, Bats, Anaconda, Monster!, They Nest and this dire heap of s***. How can the directors/actors sleep at night knowing they've made such a shockingly poor movie? If you have to watch a good monster flick, DON'T choose this! I wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this pile of turd. Hope this has been warning enough for you. Now go and rent a decent movie.
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Not really my sorta film
It's a ggod film, but very repetitive. Shoot, run, hide. Shoot, run, hide. Shoot, run, hide. All of the actors in the film were pretty convincing and played their parts well. All the special effects were good and the location for the film was awesome. As I say not really my type of film and I did nod off a bit in the middle. If you liked Saving Private Ryan then you're bound to enjoy this. It is worth seeing just for the effects and action scenes.
Krocodylus (2000)
MY GOD!!!!!
I never actually thought that a film could be so atrocious, but alas I was wrong. Terrible acting, terrible plot, terrible effects. The Crocodile was awful and as for the stupid sex/killing scene all in one, that was a bad move from the word go. It was truly shocking and that is not a compliment! How can someone make this film, watch it back and then actually say "Yeah, thats a good movie. People will watch that" If you haven't seen it I beg you DON'T BOTHER :-(
