Now You Know (2002)
Got to see the first proper screening
I traveled all the way to Vulgarthon for the second time from the UK. and this for me one one of the highlights of the Whole Trip. getting to be in the first proper audience for the screening of NOW YOU KNOW. Jeff intro-ed the film and said he was up untill a week or two prior unsure about showing the movie as it was still unfinished. I was not expecting what I got... A damn funny romantic comedy which I will have to own and watch many times. I cannot wait for it to hit the cinemas.. ok not exactly some time soon as I am in the UK. but I want to be able to share this film with friends it is superb. a must watch movie and I hope Jeff gets recognised for his writing and directing efforts. A great ensomble cast with what I was told was some well known faces.. but as I am in the UK I only really recognised Jeff, and Jake Richardson from JASBSB plus the askew regulars.
When this movie gets to the cinemas go and see it you will be rewarded with a well written film with some great moments.
Vulgar (2000)
I have waited a long time to see this
Having been a long time fan of all things Viewaskew. I attended Vulgarthon 2K back at hallo-ween weekend 2000. Vulgar was meant to be on the screnings listings then and all that I had read / heard about the movie sounded great so I really wanted to see it. BUT near the date of the film festival it was pulled from the line-up because LIONSGATE films picked the film up for distribution when it was screened at the Toronto film festival. I did get the signed poster and have had it hanging in my living room for the past year or so. 15 months later I go to V3 the 3rd Vulgarthon and finally get to see the movie. did it live up to expectations...YES. It met them and exceeded them, it was more emotionaly involved than I thought it would be many said deeply moving and disturbing I would have to agree. Not the kind of film for the weak willed or easily disturbed. There are some pretty strong scenes in this movie. The kind of film that really gets under your fingernails and niggles at you like a big bit of grit. It makes you think and you really get to feel for the main character Will Carson aka Vulgar the clown as played by Brian O'Halloran an outstanding performance on his behalf. the film really got to me and that is what to me it set out to do. A great cast an amazing performance by the actress who played Wills mother who was stuck in the old peoples home she was brilliant. A fantastic looking film for the small budget it had. Only complaint was we did not have a surround sound set up in the theatre 2 and was then told that it had a skywalker mix and this scene and that scene sounded really good in surround.
should be on a low release in the next month or so keep an eye on the listings but do not take your Mum or Gran.
