Justice for the People with Judge Milian (2023)
I'm Sad
I love Marilyn Milan. She was my favorite judge on TV when she was on People's Court. Her new show has some interesting cases on it, but she doesn't act like the same, level-headed judge. She seems short tempered and overdramatic at times. Her verdicts are OK still at least, but I really used to like how assertive she was without being insulting. I just don't see that here on the show.
As much as I hate to say this, I wish she would get a contract with Judge Judy's production company instead of the one that she's on right now. What am I saying, I just really wish the People's Court was never canceled.
The Trust: A Game of Greed (2024)
Ugh
I watched all the episodes. I went from disliking the characters, to sort of liking the characters, back to disliking the characters. I think this is a good concept for a reality game show, but it seems scripted at times, some of the players tend to know exactly what to say, and exactly the right time. Seems too suspicious. And they all are so unlikable. The one person that everybody seemed to like on the show, Brian, ended up being the most annoying player. Maybe he just got too much camera time, but I got really sick of him and his judginess towards the end. Tolu really played it up for the cameras and she's very dislikable. I'm not sure if it's just how it was produced, but Julie ended up looking the best because she seemed to be the most honest player. Her relationship with the military contractor won't last though. I think Lindsey should've been in the group that won, she actually played the game.
Fool Me Once (2024)
Pointless Story Depending on Point of View
If you make it through all the episodes, you'll suddenly realize that because the story was told mostly by Maya's point of view, it was a pointless. If she already knew who the killer of her sister was, and who the killer of her husband was, why was she doing all the other investigation?
The story would've been a lot better told from the viewpoints of the detectives. They could've discovered who the murderers/motives were and the audience would've gone along with it. I understand that it would've had to change a lot of how the story executed, but then the ending what made a little more sense.
Unlike other reviews, I didn't think that the acting was terrible, but definitely the detectives and the children were better than the rest of the adults acting in the movie. It was great to see Joanna L though.
House of Villains (2023)
Stick with It
The show keeps getting funnier and funnier. I first started watching because I am a Challenge fan, and I wanted to see how Johnny Bananas would be portrayed. I usually hate him on The Challenge, but I find myself rooting for him on this show.
I'm also familiar with the other characters and their respective shows. I hated Shake on his show, Omarosa, on her show, and Johnny Fairplay on his shows. On this show however, they're all super funny and play right into the villain characters. Bobby and all the other characters are hilarious also.
Joel McHale and the production crew really know how to work the show and make it entertaining.
I almost quit watching after the first episode because it seems so boring and contrived. But I gave it a couple more episodes and by the third episodes I was hooked. I only gave it nine stars because I don't think there should be a second season. I just don't think it would be as good as the first.
Tribunal Justice (2023)
This Show Would be So Much Better Without Adam Levy
Adam Levy might be smart, and he might even be correct in his assessments, but his behavior is overly accusatory, juvenile, explosive, and dramatic. The other two judges are a breath of fresh air compared to Judge Levy. The other two judges are smart and get fiery also, but they are not nearly as rude as Levy.
This bad behavior is the reason why I also dislike watching Judge Judy. She's one of the rudest judges on the air, and it's clear the Judge Levy is trying to follow in his mother's footsteps. It's interesting that Judge Judy is the creator of a show that happens to have her son on it, and they both think acting like this increases the ratings. The best judge on tv- Marilyn Milian- doesn't need the melodrama to get viewers.
