The Road Dog (2023)
Great performance about road comedians
Doug Stanhope was great in an inside view of the life of traveling standup comedians in a world where youtube is hitting the comedy club circuit. Stanhope plays an old school comedian with a drinking problem but sticking to the convictions of his act while trying to connect to a son he abandoned early on. There are some Chicago connections with some comedians from my area.
Stanhope should definitely be nominated for an award for his acting performance. The actor that played his son did a very good job as well.
If you're a fan of standup comedy or not this heavy drama with some funny moments is highly recommended. Worth a view or three!
Planet Dune (2021)
Planet Dung more like it
What a POS!
If the director set out to make a low budget 80s movie worse than most eighties movies cashing in on the Herbert Dune with the star as Sean Young you know it's a tanker. My guess is Mickey Rourke declined.
Hopefully Young didn't fall in love with one of the co-stars and stalk them. This project wouldn't even deserve that sort of baggage.
I like tongue in cheek 80s spoof low budget flicks but this movie from the cast, the acting, script and effects is such a train wreck you cannot even believe someone spent the time and money to produce it. If you like really really bad movies this one might be for you.
