Harlan Coben's Shelter (2023)
Draws you in from start to finish!
I'm smart enough to know that movies based on books means it may be different, which is perfectly fine! Everyone is in such an uproar over that and don't even try to expand their view. For me, I like that there can be variations around the same basis. The series was entertaining and kept me interested in what was going to happen next. I enjoyed it so much I binge watched it! I'm hoping they add another season to add more to the story. I thought all the characters were interesting and they kept me invested in their stories where I laughed and cried with them. I really liked Arthur and his quirkiness! Sure there were some issues but it was still a great watch! One issue for me was that Mickey and Ashley only knew each other for basically a day yet they were like a serious couple. But I think the key is to understand what trauma she went through before she saw him for the first time with his father, she may have seen that he was safe so when she saw him again at school she was comfortable with him and happy for a chance to be a normal teenager again. Viewing it this way made it more understandable about Mickey and Ashley, but only if you understand about real trauma. Plus it can be said they're just being teenagers if you want to simplify it. Another issue is how did no one notice the dad was missing when they went to the hospital. There was physically no body at the car accident so by talking to the mother and son they should have know he was physically missing. That issue I couldn't justify, but it still did make the story interesting throughout and added to the revealing end of the series. Overall I would still recommend others too watch it and enjoy it as is without comparing it to the book! I think this series would make more people interested in the author and their books.
Marple: At Bertram's Hotel (2007)
My favorite episode!
This is by far my all time favorite episode of the entire series!! I really loved Jane the maid and how the character worked with Miss Marple and Inspector Bird. The three of them working things out together was extremely enjoyable to watch! I was hoping that Jane and Bird would be in more episodes somewhere. Aside from Miss Marple, Jane is a favorite of mine because of her attitude and the way she thinks. The episode has a lot going on in it, lots of stories, so it was fun to keep up with everything and watch for clues. Normally I hate when a story is too busy, but I didn't mind it here because every character kept you invested and interested so it was like a well choreographed dance. If anyone were new to watching Miss Marple, this would be my go to episode to recommend they watch. All around wonderful episode!
The Equalizer (2021)
Wonderfully amazing relevant tv show!
This is a truly great show! I love Queen Latifah and the cast, they bring heart and realism to The Equalizer. I wish people would quit comparing the show to the old Equalizer with Edward Woodward. That was in the 1980s, get with the times! I am ecstatic that the current show is about current events. We definitely do not need to rehash old tropes with old ways of thinking! This Equalizer has a lot of intrigue with wonderful plots. I'm really glad the show has heart, you don't see that a lot anymore plus it makes you really care about the central characters and the people that they help. The show has relevant and relatable stories. I love how it talks about a variety of current issues to bring about awareness but doing it in a manner that's not pushy. You get excitement, mystery, life lessons, and heart throughout this show. My only regret is I didn't watch this show sooner! It's been so good to watch such a wonderful show. I'm glad they're showcasing what a badass Queen Latifah is! My hats off to the whole cast, every single one of them is on point, they are amazing! They truly make the show as wonderful as it. This show is a true gem in every way possible!
Becoming Witch (2022)
Must watch!
I was expecting something with a full on supernatural aspect yet modern take from the look of the cover. It wasn't that, but it does have a bit of supernatural element to it as the story progresses but different from what one expects. I would say this is a must watch!! I really enjoyed the show as a whole and the three main women characters drew you in. This was my first K-drama so for me the subtitles went pretty quick, I had to rewind a lot at first. I think some things got lost in translation, but watching the characters actions and faces really helped to get the story. It was captivating and kept me hooked to see how things played out for each characters lives. I really can't do it justice in how great the show and it's actresses and actors are. I'm from a different culture so a few things were surprising and interesting to learn about. It was still very much relatable it multiple ways for me and I loved how you go through all the emotions with the story and even get a bit of surprises from the characters too. It was like a book you can't put down, it was a truly great show to watch!
