First love at its finest
12 January 2021
I went into this expecting to see just another teen drama and instead I found myself swept up in a well crafted story, with terrific performances by the main leads (the chemistry between them is off the charts), and an enormous attention to detail. Even if it's not perfect (some pacing issues specially on the third act and a few other small quirks), it's still beautifly acted, shot and muscialized, and overall one of those rapturous experiences that stay with you for many days and it's well worth several rewatches. It captures not only the love and pain of the protagonists but also the ambient in which they move. Note: Don't be fooled by some reviewers complaining about "confused storytelling" or "messy script". The script is well constructed and the story unfolds in a very clear way. There's a bit of jumping in time, but the visual language makes perfectly clear when each event is happening.

Just brilliant
6 May 2016
I cannot believe the amount of people who have given bad reviews to the episode just because they couldn't cope with its big reveal. The revelation about Cap. Flint is not only amazingly bold but it also makes perfect sense (it is also clear to me that it had been hinted at during season 1). It deepens the character motivations and it fits perfectly with what we know about him. My interest in what's coming next has only been increased because of this, specially considering the show has now added a new element to its study of pirate (and British) culture during the era.

Capitain Flint is even more layered now, and the show has made a bold movement for which it should be commended. Deal with it.
