A Million Little Things: Listen (2021)
I cried with you, Rome
This show did it right! I don't attend protests because they can get out of hand so easily and quickly. Rome is almost always my favorite character and felt like he was spot on in this episode. (Not commenting on the other actors & actresses) On an aside some other shows are veering from their main topics (like treating patients at their hospital) to bring in social injustice and other hot topics and it turns me off because it's not in context of show, but this episode made the hot topics fit in without being burdensome. I do wish he had confided in his wife about his true reaction to her injury...but glad his dad was there for him; maybe now dad & son will have a better understanding of each other. Thank you AMLT!
Winter in Vail (2020)
Same old predictable, cookie cutter romance movie
Not much new in this movie. Seems Hallmark thinks viewers need seasonal visual reminders in every scene. Characters wearing same clothes in nearly every scene, but the Drindl was the waitresses uniform for the restaurant, not her real clothes; and the writing....in at least one scene Lacey says let's talk about the calendar, the others respond but she replies with let's go look at the dance floor.
Filmed in Canada, with only 2 days in Vail. They can afford to go Africa for safari movie with Lacey but they couldn't come up with some place real besides Canada for the setting? I would be happier with less movies made with better quality, not these cookie cutter movies they make that feel like they just rolled out of a factory. Hallmark doesn't seem to make their drama .movies anymore either, just more death investigations....ugh! The old black and white movies on TCM are better, somehow on this one I was pulled in.
Forever in My Heart (2019)
It's just a so-so movie....
At first I was so excited that movie was set in Ireland! Seems like most of Hallmark movie are made in Canada. But I'm almost every scene there was someone wearing green, felt like they had to remind us of the location.
Then the plot was just blah, blah, blah. No chemistry between Jack and Merritt; he didn't give her his ring and then she found out but we didn't see her go through emotions of what that could have meant and where do things stand now. There isn't a conversation about how these realized they were right for each other and no explanation for how she ends up back in Dalkey.
I find older Hallmark movies, (and by older I mean 5 yrs) which check all the boxes one wants in a romance movie. Feeling like their new movies are becoming part of a factory production where intrigue, imagination, romance, and wittiness are not welcomed. I'm finding more movies to watch on UP channel or even on TCM.
Christmas Cookie Matchup (2019)
Bakers were great; Judges not so much!
It seemed like the competition included the personalities of bakers, as well as how cute they looked, their interactions with other contestants and if they told a great story....which I can understand the great story part. But one judge went on and on how a contestant looked; to me it was creepy.
I didn't hear why the guy won when they repeatedly said his two cookies tasted practically the same.
I hope hallmark will fine tune their judging standards to be about the baking and not about the other stuff. I am posting this review because it didn't feel like a real baking contest and hearing those comments made me feel badly for the contestants who worked hard to bake something only to be told how cute she looked when her eyes sparkled! What criteria did they use to judge their creations?
Lark Rise to Candleford: Episode #2.6 (2009)
My favorite episode so far!
LOVE this show!
The more I watch the more I absolutely looovveeeee it!!!
I used to just catch an episode here and there until one day when I caught the pilot and decided to record the whole she-bang and binge watch. So worth the wait! To me this show is right in line with The Walton's, Little House on the Prairie etc.
It's fun too because some actors and actresses are also on Downton Abbey. But the maid at the post office, Minnie, is the bomb, as the say. She is such a delight and seems well suited for those subtle comedic scenes. Though even her serious scenes are so well acted it's still a pleasure to watch her.
I am on sick leave and this show helps to fill the void. I so hope someone will make more series like this one; it's a bright, happy spot in the TV serial world that is set on shows where the actors make fun of each other, kill and maim others, tell bathroom jokes and use bad language. So pleased to write that none of those things are present here! I really appreciate all those who worked on this show and am beyond sad the show ended abruptly, unfortunately such is the way it goes input monetary world.
If you like shows about working through societal constraints whilst building a family, the the pains of growing up and being in love and the troubles there in; the joys and pains of growing old and how communities pull together in moments of good times and hardships....then Lark Rise to Candleford is for you!
Harvest Moon (2015)
Not Their Best Movie
This movie gets worse as it goes along. The writer, director etc have Jennifer Stone character so unknowledgeable about farm life, it is ridiculous. It's not funny, it's embarrassing. She didn't know what was crowing at 5am nor even why. I'm watching with a friend, otherwise I would turn to something else.
Hoping Hallmark will not make more movies with with whinny women.
