Záhrada (1995)
the best movie I've seen (so far)
A marvelous tale of great beauty. It is advised to read 'Candide' (by Voltaire) as well (a very nice book indeed). This makes the movie even better.
Saw the movie three times, and I expect the number to rise.
Il Decameron (1971)
one of his master-peaces
This is so far the best I've seen of Pasolini (Salo, Theorema, Oedipus Rex). He manages to show the beautiful way 'il Decamerone' is written by Boccaccio in this film.
Pasolini was inspired by Tarkovsky ('Andrei Rublyov') in this film. With in my memory an almost exact copy of the little church in which Pasolini himself figures as an icon painter, a setting so good it was worthwhile using again. Together with Pasolini I also recommend the film 'Andrei Rublyov' to any viewer liking 'il Decamerone'.
Andrey Rublyov (1966)
for all the Pasolini fans
A must for people liking 'il Decamerone' from Pasolini! (or any other work)
beautiful pictures, philosophies on life (Tarkovsky being quit russian), finalized with some good story lines on the 15th century.
Though the film might be a bit long, and don't expect a proper story.
